Anyone familiar with the Kel-Tec RFB?

[GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion - Page 23 Keltec-rfb-2

The hypothetical 5.56 "CFB" variant seems promising. Granted, the RFB itself is a rare gun so I can't speak as far as its track record

Haven't heard of it before, and looking at it...I don't like it.
Safety selector looks awkward to use. Charging handle is definitely on the wrong side for righties (I hope you can flip it...description says ambidextrous so I would assume so). Doesn't have iron sights, which means if my site goes down I'm fucked (plus I prefer iron sights anyways). And I can't find the magazine release, but it's a bullpup so reloading would still suck regardless.

I just realized what my one post sounded like. I meant mouth-grip for the bolt but the other parts of my brain told that part that it was stupid...It's like I get into arguments with myself...

Doesn't ship with iron sights, but you can put on some rail-mounted ones in addition to your sight.

Safety selector is virtually identical to every other rifle around.

Charging handle is non-reciprocating and on both sides

Mag release is a paddle/switch behind the magazine.

Its trigger system means it has a sharper, smoother trigger pull than most othe bullpup a as well.

That's true, didn't even think of aftermarket sights.
That's true as well, I forgot ambidextrous means the selector is on the other side too (yes, I am that stupid in the head).
I'm still not really a fan of the charging lever being up there like that, awkward pull.
Oh, there it is. Yeah, don't like it, of course I don't like any bullpup reloading because the magazine is in a stupid place that makes my reloads slower and feel strange.

Eh, I don't like it. Seems to have been designed for target shooting instead of defense or warfare, looks like it was kludged together out of a half dozen other guns, and I suspect there's a reason they've been specifically marketing to civilian gun enthusiasts rather than any actual military or police force. It reminds me of the desert eagle: a gun "cool" enough that every kid will want one, but horribly impractical for anyone who actually has business using a gun.

Eh. Bullpups are aren't everyone's cup'ah tea. Cool as that rifle is, I doubt it could match the AR-15 family for modularity and versatility.

However, I've done extensive research on the Bushmaster ACR (I look places other than the AR-15 family because they aren't very lefty-friendly guns) and I think it's quite awesome. Definitely on the pricy side, but awesome.

I also really like the ACR, and it's close enough to the AR15 family that I wouldn't have too hard a time getting used to it.

They mentioned something about a 7.62x39 conversion for the ACR, hope they follow through with it.

I like the placement of all the controls, and how it's totally ambidextrous. It's not the tack-driver that the AR is, but in combat you don't necessarily need tack-driver accuracy.

And you're right, the caliber changes on the ACR are way simpler than on the AR. A barrel and bolt are cheaper than a whole upper receiver, and you don't need to take off and re-mount the sights. You're buying several magazines anyway.

I've heard from a review that if you bang the receiver of a G3 against something and dent it it the bolt won't go back all the way and you're screwed.

I really wish I knew who Kim was talking to about me... and what exactly they were talking about.
Damn her I'm curious now xD

Even if it was something bad I'd never be angry because people are allowed to vent between themselves - I think anyone who gets pissed off about people talking behind their backs are immature little pricks who can't handle that the world doesn't treat them like a princess / king.

Honestly, if anything it's better to talk behind someone's back and stay civil to their face because while no, that doesn't sort issues out (and you should attempt to be sort em out) it keeps the peace and allows for a healthy venting of our frustrations and such.

Anyway, back to my point, damn you Kim, I'm curious now.

Has potential, but no current technology makes it any more practical than conventional. Plus, it can't be reloaded which puts certain civilian shooters in a bind.

As Mr. Frost mentioned, many countries still use bolt-action rifles.
New bolt-action rifles are being produced for armies, like ones in .338 Lapua. Bolt-action weapons tend to be more accurate than semi-automatics, not sure why.

The AR-15 family of weapons are probably more modular than bullpup weapons because more organizations use them, so more modification kits and equipment would be developed for the design. Same with the AK family.
The ACR program is an interesting one for sure.

I like the AR-15 but my beef with it is that it needs a lot of cleaning. Soldiers over in the Middle East have had some issues with the weapon malfunctioning in the middle of fighting. It's accurate and a good weapon, just tempermental. The AKM and the Kalashnikov designs in general are favorites of mine since they do everything they need to despite being heavy and inaccurate compared to the AR-15. I like the ACR because it gives the best of both worlds. One of the things I've learned in recent months is that there is no 'best weapon', only weapons that suit your situation. Closest you can get to the 'best weapon' is one that can be used in the most roles and easiest on logistics.

EDIT: The AR isn't as needy as some people claim, it just doesn't like sand that well.

I'm no expert, but I think bolt-actions tend to be more accurate than automatics for a few reasons, foremost being that none of the gases are being redirected to cycle the action.

The thing many don't know as to why the Ak is so inaccurate is that the long-stroke gas piston makes the gun vibrate like hell. Every time you fire it the gun goes "HAHAHAHA I'M A RUBBER BAND HAHAHA"...ahem... Shy

However, semi-autos are capable of sub-MoA fire

Make sure you take all the shotgun and knife perks in addition to anything related to going aggro and screaming.

Several of them, not as many as I'd like to. Nyarlathotep is best pony outer god

I relate more to that character than I do to any other I can think of. Major differences being I'm a high-school student, haven't joined the military yet, and I'm short and white.

In other news: I watched Cabin In The Woods today, finally. It's a silly film that probably fridges most of its logic, but it is VERY, VERY fun and funny. Can't really talk about my favorite parts without spoiling it, but if you like horror films, this one's definitely worth giving a shot. (Also if you like Joss Whedon it's one of his, and one of his best IMO, though if you like Joss Whedon I'd assume you'd have already seen it. =P)

Anyone know some good action films where the main cast just blow stuff up? Expendables was pretty good despite not having much of a story, modern 80's style action movie that is mostly music, action, lights, and noise. Lots of noise. I can still mentally picture Hale Caesar going apeshit with that shotgun.

Well, the story wasn't groundbreaking or complex, but it at least had one. A lot of Oscar Bait-films try to have subtle, complex or unconventional plots and it comes off as having no purpose or plot at all.
