In all seriousness I found this place via the mentions in some of the PH chapters. Got curious and made my baleful way over here. I was so used to the angsty, flame-ridden, vile nature of some forums that I expected the same from here. When I learned I could be myself-BUT SUDDENLY, IRONMONGER'S CRAZY TRAIN!

Because weaponry in 40K is ridiculously powerful. The weakest weapon, the lasgun, is powerful enough to dismember a man with a single shot. The weakest armor of those soldiers would be impervious to most if not all infantry weaponry of modern times. Space Marines would be slaughtered without their armor. The 'average' weapon in the setting is a .50-75 caliber rapid-firing RPG called a Bolter, they would eat a modern tank. The reason their armor is so disproportionate is because their chests are enlarged to provide room for the extra organs they need.

I don't know how well a MBT would stand up to Bolter rounds. The 1in. Heavy Bolter would certainly damage them with the crazy AP rounds they sometimes use(Kraken Bolts?).

Odd thing is, some of the Rhino transports the Spess Mehreens use are made of 60mm simple steel and are quite boltfire-resistant, on the tabletop you need to roll a 6 or 5 for heavies to damage the side armor.

Sometimes the codex writers don't explain things properly. Warhammer 40K is incredibly old and incredibly vast but some things do not add up. MATT WARD AND AAAAAAALL THAT FLUFF JUST DON'T ADD UP!

Random, but I found my name mentioned in Chapter 1 of Murky. Just found it amusing.

A tryannid will fuck up a lone space marine easily given the chance.

As a Tyranid player, I approve. A Genestealer brood is a good solution for power-armored foes (even Terminators, and to a limited extent, vehicles! Dat rending.), and Termigants with devourers are just so awesomely shooty. Eighteen inches and you're dead, buddy! Wouldn't say that to some Fire Warriors, though. Damn Fire Warriors.

@Bolters: .75 for regular, .998 for heavy. In fluff, they're far more powerful, but the fluff is all sorts of whack; after all, my Imperial Guardsmen cost far too much to field, considering there's millions for every Space Marine. Hell, even their tanks outnumber the SM.

This reminds me of a wild idea I pitched to Frost one day. A church, where instead of baptism, you are initiated with a fist-fight. Also whenever there would be those little meet-n-greet sessions at the beginning of service, there would instead be a massive brawl among the members for ten minutes, after which they help eachother up and go about the service like nothing happened.

You're hardly the only one that scares him. He's somewhat regularly disavowed our conversations due to their tendency to make him very uncomfortable.
Honestly, I'd be willing to bet everyone here has scared him at one point or another.

Ironmonger, floating several feet above the ground, is engulfed in chaotic energy, disappearing completely from sight. The Project Horizons Comment Crew could only watch in horror at what was happening, knowing all too well what was occurring before their very eyes.

From the maelstrom of raw chaos emerged a hulking figure of scorched iron and scratched but polished brass. His horns stretched out from the sides of his head, curving forward and up like a bull's. His mouth a tall maw filled with razor-sharp teeth of diamond and steel, and his eyes a burning, furious orange like the light of a mighty foundry. His face a mixture of an enraged scowl and a mocking smile, pauldrons emblazoned with the symbol of the Iron Warriors.
