I highly suggest watching the original 3 Star Wars films to those who have not. They are some of the best films evar.

Certainly the first one is the best plagiarized Kurosawa film that was ever released commercially.

inb4 it follows extended universe canon and is actually pretty good...Cptadder wrote:This is true but it one thing to take them out of Lucas hands... it's another thing for Disney to buy them and instantly announce a new Star Wars movie... and not just any Star wars movie but Episode 7.Caoimhe wrote:Star Wars out of the hands of George Lucas is a good thing. I'm not the biggest fan but it doesn't take a fan to know that Lucas from the 90s on is an utter moron when it comes to filmmaking.
naw, we all know disney will run the franchise into the ground even more...

Original three. Meaning IV through VI. Which weren't exactly high literature, but are still probably in the top 1% of all major films.stringtheory wrote:I sure hope you are trolling...
Rather than episodes I through III, which were generally pretty shit. Or the expanded universe, which ranges from the quite decent to material so terrible that attempting to read it causes me to hemorrhage from the eyes, contradicts itself constantly, and yet is all declared canon in the pursuit of more money.

Well, they've got about the same value as Crysis has for games. Worthless story, good visuals for one run.

Speaking of the prequel trilogy....
you guys remember Darth Maul, right? The horned, dual-saber-wielding, freaky tattoed badass?
why the hell did they kill him off?

@DisneyStarWars: Hmm not sure if want...
Let's see on the one hand it is good someone has wrested the franchise from George's hands, on the other it is Disney, who makes high class children movies to be sure, but Star Wars isn't really a children's movie.
Hmm upon further reflection, I think I'd much rather at least have a movie in the works then just have the franchise gathering dust indefinitely. If the movie is bad, I'll only watch it once, no harm no foul. But if they don't even make a movie, then we won't even have an opportunity for a good movie. Ultimately I suppose I'm for the idea then. Woo hoo go Disney.

To stretch the analogy even further beyond safety limits, the original trilogy would be like Mass Effect is for games now.
...
Hey, they've even got their own annoying short things that ruin the ending.
Um. I didn't say I hated Crysis, either.

Oh no, I was speaking of the prequel trilogy. Crysis 2 is indeed a good game though I haven't played the first.Valikdu wrote:ketchup504 wrote:I didn't hate them, though the originals were definitely a lot better.Valikdu wrote:

Yes he'd have overshadowed the other characters for the other two films, just like he did for the first one. But anything that overshadows anything about the other two films is good in my book.
Besides. Vader and Han way, way, way overshadow Luke as far as most fans are considered. Never stopped them.

He had to die because Lucas was being short sighted/wanted to sell more toys. How much more impressive would he have been if he had killed Qui-Gon and left Obi-won there to go kill the queen. But then he retreats on orders from his master. Delay makes the final conflict all that greater, if your going to make it three movies why not keep him alive to threaten the heroes.Mister Frost wrote:WavemasterRyx wrote:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TooCoolToLiveMister Frost wrote:Speaking of the prequel trilogy....

Or he gets driven off when the victorious rebels come at him in force. He kills Qui-Gon, wounds Obi-wan, and it takes a freaking tank just to make him retreat.
plus, it would be a far more interesting conflict later on. Sidious was, from the beginning, looking for a true apprentice and it's implied that Plagueos, with his "power to create life" was behind Anakin's pseudo-Christ virgin birth. Maul, being powerful in subtle manipulations and striking from the shadows but weak as far as brute Force strength and Sith philosophy beyond "hate", was never anything more than a blunt instrument for Sidous' purposes. When Sideous accepts Vader as his disciple, this could lead to an interesting point wherein a pissed-off Maul and a desperate Obi-Wan team up to take down Vader, and it's Maul who nearly kills him before being stopped by Obi-Wan. Maul and Obi-wan part ways peacefully out of respect, leaving open the possibility that Maul could be either a problem or a hindrance later on.

@ Mister Frost and Cptadder
Oh I didn't mean it as any deep insight or anything, I really don't know much about the Star Wars universe. I do like Darth Maul though, and I agree, it was a shame for him to die in the way he did.
Oh, there is one good thing that came out of Episode I though. Jedi Power Battles. That game was so much fun.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Right, back for like, what? The firth time? xD
Firstly: Woo! Eon xP Somehow ending up in the country in Eon with a culture that is about "radical/fanatic muslims", but with reversed gender roles, and common sense did actually do quite a bit for me heh. Also got myself a couple of blind bag ponies :3
And waoh... room is swaying, doesn't do that too often as a result of woozy.
@Valik: (Random comic thing) I actually didn't really get what it was supposed to be heh... nor most of the other ones.
@Kipper: (Spaghetti) I just think of that parody song when I hear that word xP
@Cao: (Hurricane) Good luck on not getting blown.
@Wave: I apparently missed something, but do get better from whatever it was.
@EP: Apparently I also missed a whole "rape factory" thing too, think it came from the robot vs clone discussion. And got parts of it.
@Sindri: I know I really should likely ignore old stuff, but my autism tells me not to ^=^'
(King) I know, mentioned that, but I still found it funny as said :P
(Bacon) Yeah... luckily having one group with a common goal now. But always seem to derail when it becomes more than 3-5 players. But yeah, current campaign is rather good. Still miss my underdark one though... loved the group dynamic, Great "Right, I hate the fuck out of you, but we need each others help to make it down here."
(People) And pretty much like that. I'm quite jaded right now. I mean heck, latest death caused me to sigh, be quiet for ~30 seconds then resume a RPG session with a slightly more gloomy mood. And suggest what? I give the support I can in the little I can muster. I'm not good with social stuff anyhow, and just so tired overall.
(Ovaries) Not sure if "jellied" is the term, but you know what I meant I hope xP And why yes! You could strangle the US president with that!
(Door) I still slip back to the whole point of why would a custom made door for a custom made room with an neigh impenetrable barrier spell only opening for one bloodline have a common lock attached to it that about anyone could pick? That's the part I derp about. It's like "Haha! I, Lé Frande, last of the Gustaaf griffin family hold this custom made anti-materiel rifle in my claws, made for use of griffins only, and I will defend it with my last breath... and it has a attached down at the back for mouth grip for ponies if you should happen to conveniently defeat me so you could use it when I'm dead."
@Valik: Hai. I'm sure my reputation proceeds me xP
@Cao: Just random: Still, I stick to what I said about Scootaburger, keep it in mind ;D
@Robo: Yeah, I can see that, which to me makes little sense, going with how I was a major contributor to said stuff xP
@Kipper: Yeah, I got my own gecko, so I like to pat them :3
Said it before, saying it again: xD
And thanks.
@Cao: (Cosplay) Because your ranks in the skill was not high enough to pass the check? (preferred % chance system, don't like the auto-fail/auto win in NV, sure, removes the whole "re-loading" part, but eh..)
*Looks around* Woo! Finally done!
Wooziness passed a bit, but will see what I'll do, have to get up early anyhow, so can't be that much...

Had a bit of a freak incident a little while ago. I'm about to dial my diabetic aunt's phone number so I can check on her, I put the phone to my ear and there is a black guy (knew from accent) on the other end from Kroger Pharmacy. Later we go to pick up our meds and we talked to the same guy. He's like "Was that you?" and I reply "Yeah I was worried there for a moment, thought my phone was tapped or something." (I tend to be nonsensical when I verbally speak). Turns out that I redialed my aunt's phone, pressed the talk button just as the pharmacist rang my phone. Victim of timing. It's been going through my head how amusing to me it is that you can discern a person's skin color just by voice and accent sometimes.

Kipper would be like a British Tsar bomb. It doesn't get more terrifying than that, especially that part about British.
