@Waterbears meh
@Pony guns, have we ever seen a pony using a mouth rifle?
As well what about bipods and tripods
*Edit, phone posts...short posts.

We were discussing normal infantry gun usage. Bipods and tripods are best reserved for emplacements.
Side-note: how prevalent was pony artillery before the Last Day? I know their air power was, by our standards, pitiful, but I don't recall much detail of their artillery.

@CptAdder: Blackjack used a shotgun long before she had fingers, and there was no indication she had a battle saddle. While not a rifle necessarily, it has the same shape and general use requirements.
Edit: but she had magic, nevermind

They are multicellular. They grow to be as much as a millimeter and a half, and start at at least 50 μm. And they're unlikely to change much from here without a major shift in environment; they've gotten pretty close to perfect in their niche and so there's no advantage to further mutation. Not to mention that it would take hundreds of thousands of years to see any difference. And in any case, evolution very rarely means 'becoming more dangerous' because increased size also increases energy requirements and labeling yourself as a threat to things that are probably better at killing you than you will ever get the chance to be at killing them doesn't improve your chance to reproduce.Mister Frost wrote:Kippershy wrote:Look at what it can survive.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I never heard much about artillery. We know they had large bore cannons, such as those on the Celestia, but other than that we never saw much of it in any memory orbs. I'd imagine they'd at the very least have developed some AAA with the zebras using dragons.Mister Frost wrote:Cptadder wrote:@Waterbears meh

I see they tried to send some to Phobos...ARE THEY INSANE?! If we send them there, they will get corrupted by hell's power, and then we'll have a bunch of evil monsters running around when we finally go thereKippershy wrote:I just found out something amazing.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Page 21 Summary GO! (Writing now)
This covers pages 11 to 21
We open Page 11 on a depressing note as Kipper talks about trying to stop a suicide and thinking he's going to fail.
And reactions are had to that until Iron derails us into... cooking? We all ignore the derail attempt and get back to the depressing stuff
Slight spam and Iron tries to dodge his responsibility for writing a ten page summary
More talk about Warhammer and silly space marine anatomy
Iron tries to dodge again, I post pictures of my dog Kiki who today was literally as bad as it was possible to be without assassinating a foreign leader.
RoboRed posts how cute Dashie is when pouting
We all agree
Iron finally posts his summary and it covers the last twelve pages well.
Then he starts making shit up to pad it, and we all talk about what the heck Where the fuck is fluttershy's money means
The forum changes color, we all go crazy as a result
Kattlarv posts, much innuendo was had by all.... then spam is had about 40k again
Page 13 starts off with my speculation about about the War, how there were massive refugee columns even in Celestia's time, indicating more widespread fighting then suggested.
We talk both about that and Kipper status update about the suicide prevent attempt that was successful
Erumpet shares an amazing Dwarf Fortress story (Most Dwarf Fortress stories are amazing considering how many way things go wrong in that game)
More 40k Spam,
And then on Page 14 we talk about scaring Somber who scares easily
The rest of page 14 is best simply skipped
Also the entirety of Page 15 which is also 99% spam, skip that too
Last skip about half of Page 16, we finally get back on track with a question about how fast people write things
And suddenly Season 3 Spoilers and Tyler gets his power back!
So we talk about how Sandy has affected our members, the ones who are still alive at least.
Then Frost takes things over the top so I have to post the Kipper sex chart to determine what is not okay and what is okay to post.
I will re post it here in spoiler form.
Remember the Kipper chart people
Then Kattlarv comes back in to set us back on track with mentions of Cupcakes and scaring somber.
And then the thread moves into the endgame halfway down Page 18 with talk about Ponies and Pony guns which as of this post is still the current topic of discussion
My "borrowed" Wifi I'm using my Laptop to write this post is rather spotty so with that we are done for today.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I know my story might not hold any resemblance of what is "canon" to the Equestrian wasteland, but in my story/view of it all, they did indeed have arty - though the heaviest arty I have is howitzers rather than full scale heavy or ultra mobile (self propelled) arty.
howitzers are a good medium between full artillery and mortars, providing something that can shoot far and take out tanks without being stupidly powerful and such.
They fire on a steep gradient both up and down, akin to a mortar.
In my story, the province of Four Ridges owns a battery of six.

That's a good idea. It seems to me like full artillery would be awkward for them to operate

Alright, has anyone here other than me actually read any of the works of H.P. Lovecraft?
I apologize if necessary if I'm just being a bitch about this, but I have received the distinct impression that most of you only know the names from parodies and have no comprehension of what the words 'cosmic horror' even mean.

Yes, I've read several of the works. No, Cthulhu doesn't want your soul. It's a joke.

I've had 'Call of cthulhu' read to me, not read it myself personally though. However, that was when I was a child so I hardly remember anything from it.
Loved my uncle so much for reading me that, seriously, he was awesome.

Well I'm glad that you didn't mind it, sir. But now when I look at it, all I can see is what a terrible choice I made for her mane, and that that isn't how zebra tails work. And another really big error that I don't want to point out, to keep from ruining the picture for anyone who does still enjoy it...
Mister Frost wrote:Ponies are, by most calculations, about 3 1/2-4 feet tall at the head, about 2 1/2 feet tall at the back-- about as tall as a pony you'd find at a fair. Those things can safely carry about 90 lbs. Equestrians can obviously carry a bit more than that, and can carry it longer due to their quadrupedal locomotion, but to say as a blanket statement that ponies are stronger than humans is probably false.
IncoherentOrange wrote:I posit ponies at three feet tall at the torso in my stories, but I did no measurements.
Average pony height, according to our best measurements and calculations so far, is about l.22m hoof to poll. That's about four feet.ketchup504 wrote:I think we've gone over pony size many times already with no real conclusions. Once it involved trains, as I remember, and apples.

Battle saddles require an active targeting system for hands-free adjustment. You theoretically could minutely adjust your body to aim, but that means you have to abandon your solid stance and takes an inordinately long time of standing out of cover.

Time to clear some shit up.
That cooking thing wasn't even a derail attempt, just something I had on my mind. I never dodged the 'responsibility', merely took be a bit to comprehend that you wanted ME to write it, sometimes your grammar gets tough to understand (mine does too so eh). The padding was because if I intend on getting interested in something I have to make it comically interesting or I'll lose my focus pretty fast.

Would it matter if the weapon does splash damage? And you not need a solid stance for mobile lighter weaponry?

If you have all of your soldiers with splash-damaging weapons, the logistics of that go all to hell very quickly (the cost and manufacturing demands will be insane) and while light weaponry does not necessitate a more stable stance, it also requires you to be very mobile and agile for maximum effectiveness (humans have a far easier time moving sideways than ponies)

@Sindri re HPL
Nearly all of it (I do own all of it, but haven't had time to figure out which few stories I have left). Recently, I turned the opening to The Colour Out Of Space into a comic for class. I have written literary analysis of HP Lovecraft, parody of HP Lovecraft (and Edgar Allen Poe... really more just gothic parody in general), and homages to HP Lovecraft. I have sampled HP Lovecraft for experimental literature. I'm what you might call a fan of HP Lovecraft.
