Page 31, I post my summary, Iron Spams, Rum drunks him self into the thread.
And then drinks him self out again.

So anyway back to a topic of discussion. I've been thinking about teleportation and Shadowbolt tower.

Specifically what is Blackjack's best move (Read not the move she will do) in order to get into the tower and cycle Project Horizon onto it's next destination. The main two ways are flying and simply walking up. But what if teleportation offers an alternative. If they can get say two thirds of the way up the tower simply by having Lacunae sitting in a radiation bath for two days... except they can't have that since the Goddess is about to explode thanks to Littlepip..

Well there is always option D.... for Discord....... moving onto plan E for everyone else what's your plan to get to the top of Shadowbolt tower?

ALRIGHT then, I'm here now!

...I really need to roll back my schedule a few hours at least, I usually post and do recreational things at night, but this is the middle of the morning. My sleep schedule is suffering harshly...

...And what exactly have I just walked into the middle of? I guess they don't say alcohol lowers inhibitions for nothing heh.

FeatherDust wrote:If I recall correctly, Somber said the 'returning character' had a
couple of bit-part appearances between then and now but not anything
major. I'm thinking Bottlecap comes back into the story as a serious
role, but that's really just a guess. I think Stronghoof had a major
appearance some time back, but can't recall the chapter number -- and if
the Goddess is about to die and Lacunae may be badly affected by it,
now would be a great time to bring him back in and take a quick look at
that budding relationship.

A couple of bit-part appearances? Well that certainly changes things, I think I'm beginning to agree that Bottlecap is a very likely candidate, but you also make a good point with how this would be an interesting time for Stronghoof to show up.

Idea: Lacunae says she's "not a real pony" dismissing herself as a simple construction of the Goddess with no real purpose. I'm fairly certain that the general agreement between us is that Lacunae is infact a genuine individual with thoughts, feelings, and aspirations, and that her behavior is the result of a defense mechanism to justify why she was unfortunate enough to exist as the "negative emotion dump" for the Goddess. To demonstrate this to her, somepony could point out how she is attracted to Stronghoof, and ask her whether those affections are the result of the goddess or the result of her own feelings and preferences?

Also, when the Goddess said that whatever Lacunae had done to BJ was of "her own doing" that should've been a dead center sign that Lacunae is more than just this "artifical dump" that she's so convinced of, especially since the Goddess said that what she initially had her "quite put out", that proves that Lacunae can operate beyond the will and interests of her "creator".

Basically the best way for her to "see herself" would be to somehow convince her that she possesses a personality and will of her own beyond anything that pertains to the goddess, and that a purpose is something that is found, not received.

This next part is based on the assumption that innervation weakens the Goddess' programming / influence on an individual:

If she feels like a simple tool of the goddess, I hope that she'll realize soon that the Goddess' grasp isn't complete or omnipotent given the interference caused by enervation and the act of free will noted above, and that she could rebel as an individual if she were strong enough, perhaps if she used enough innervation to block the connection she could overcome whatever programming the Goddess has instilled in her, such as that programming that block her from helping Blackjack with her own programming.
(She might even be able to cut out the middle man and have Blackjack sit in an enervation hotspot and have her try to overcome her own programming that way, since BJ seems to be resistant to the enervation herself.) Provided that they can get that far with a plan like that without it being ninja'd by the Goddess' mind meddling through their connections to her.

If the Goddess' grasp can be weakened as such, perhaps there would be a way for Lacunae to take all those bad memories and feelings the Goddess has put into her and do a little "return to sender" type deal, though the interference caused by the innervation is almost certainly two ways and it would require Lacunae being less affected by the enervation somehow to be able to have a stronger connection in her favor to the Goddess, this part is mostly just me trying to come up with a way to get some direct payback on the Goddess.
__________

Earlier, I saw an idea for a Crystal Gun from Iromonger, which got me thinking of how magical energy weapons in FoE use gem cartridges or just gems as a power source, which then got me thinking of this: what if we used a whole Gem as an actual projectile? The gems could be enchanted with a wide array of different spells and use their own inherent mass and magic to fuel said spell.
-You could have a "gun" that launches a Gem inscribed with a protective shield spell for remote deployment of bubble shields to protect allies and objects from enemy gunfire or other hazards from a distance. This would provide intuitive, reactive protection during the chaos of front line combat for our burly Earth Pony soldiers, or even for able unicorns who wish to preserve their magical energy reserves for other tasks.
-Or, perhaps a Gem inscribed with levitation magic that for all intents and purposes (though not actually, it's just magic) reverses the effects of gravity within its area of effect upon detonation, this could be useful for lifting obstacles and debris in both urban and rural environments and would also make an effective non-lethal crowd control weapon.

...and if you're feeling silly you could enchant the ammunition with a transformation spell that gives everyone in its blast radius a moustache. You never know when you might need a tactical deployment of moustaches. [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion - Page 31 779695502

This technology would allow usage of different magical effects without requiring a unicorn with the skill in that area of magic on hand. Matter of fact the only time you would need a unicorn for such a piece of equipment would be for the initial enchantment of the ammunition.

Feel free to point out any technical stuff I derped on, I strive to be as scientifically correct as possible.

Hey Robored, I mentioned this before but I'm not sure you saw, did you know we both live in Nebraska? I thought that was awesome.
__________

Finally, MY BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW!!! [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion - Page 31 550350388

I'll be 19 years old which is considered the age of majority in Nebraska (why I don't know). I wish you guys didn't live half a planet away so I could invite you guys so that my pile of rocks and bucket of turnips could have someone to talk to, but maybe Robo can keep them company.

Interesting Fact: My birthday takes place on the same day that the stock market crashed sparking the Great Depression back in 1929.
__________

Edit: Shadowbolt Tower? Psssh just go in guns-blazing with a profane battlecry and bottle of Wild Pegasus, stealth is boring and mayhem & destruction is obviously the best option because it's the most exciting, what if in reality Blackjack always does choose the best move to make, and we just don't see it?

aaand I'm going to bed now, I'll give it some actual thought once I wake up.

Edit#2: fixed innervation to enervation.

@Shadowbolttower: I don't if it's the best move, but I'd she could somehow convince the Harbringers that she was in Shadowbolt Tower maybe they would attack it because they wouldn't want the enclave getting EC1001 and ruining their plans forever. Unless the Harbringers are actually working for the Enclave, which would be just Blackjack's luck.
@Gemgun: I really like this idea, but would it be necessary to launch the gemstone? Maybe instead you would load in the gemstone and also some wax projectiles maybe and a spell matrix. Then when you pulled the trigger it stamped the projectile with whatever spell matrix you had in, charged the spell with the energy in the gemstone, then hurled the wax projectile with some sort of pressurized air launcher, or a crossbow mechanism maybe. That way one gem could be used multiple times until it ran out of energy, at which time you could replace the gem. Also you could replace the spell matrix whenever you want, so a squad, or something larger like a platoon if these guns are rare, could have
a Gemgun specialist who could provide different kinds of tactical support, adapted to the situation.
Or possibly instead of an all wax projectile, take a crossbow bolt type design, and melt wax around the middle, so the projectile would not be so frail so as to be destroyed on impact with a surface, which might disrupt the spell. Also this way it could penetrate some surfaces allowing for more tactical placement.

Edit: also an early happy birthday, in case I forget tomorrow.

Just letting you know that that bit in chapter eight about Reapers getting healing talismans is no longer accurate, according to Somber; I don't know when we'll get around to changing it, though, as I'm still waiting for concrete word on the error in 51. Thanks to whoever it was that spotted this.

Yeah, Williams would work (mainly because he'd work at pretty near anything) but PH would never be so ludicrously huge for his appearance.

On a smaller scale... maybe Alexander Rosetti or these guys? (album art contains spoilers for anyone with interest in Homestuck who has not read it yet)

Your thinking seems to agree with mine regarding Lacunae and Stronghoof... I like your idea about using E-fields to block out the Goddess, but Lacunae doesn't have any natural resistance to the Enervation so she'd just break down and die within a few hours. Littlepip's bomb is coming.

And happy early birthday.

I figured that was a case of unreliable narrator. If you'd only heard of Deus and Rampage and Gorgon specifically, you'd assume that all the Reapers were weird modified monsterponies. Besides, how could an ordinary person be that powerful on their own? There's gotta be some kind of modification process they go through that gives them all superpowers, right? So the public perception of Reapers would paint them as super-strong regenerating pseudo-ponies, and the Reapers would do little if anything to dispel this misconception. Not everything you hear from some random filly is the absolute truth.

Now that that's out of my system, in all seriousness I love the idea. My group would absolutely need something like that later on. The gem rifle idea came from the following image although I wasn't sure whether to make it a battle rifle, assault rifle, or sniper rifle. I even considered a pistol.

Another idea, maybe the idea is put forward that the Reapers have a public face. After all if most people know the reapers because of Deus then you'd assume most of the other Reapers were as or even more terrifying than Deus was. It is true after all that Deus and Gorgon have regeneration talismans and Ramapage is a walking regeneration talisman and she's the nice reaper, I bet Big Daddy had her doing PR tours. And let me say blowing off your own head is a hell of a PR stunt for demonstrating how nasty tough the Reapers are in general.

Well we are all convinced that Lacunae is in fact a dunked Pslam based on the dreams Blackjack has been getting every time she goes anywhere near Lacunae's head. More over she's said it herself. All alicorns were someone once, even if she won't admit it, Lacunae was a pony once. She did not come from nothingness, her mind might be a dumping ground for the bad memories of every pony in Unity but that ground was clear once and the ground peaks through from time to time.

Also point out she has people who cares for her, emotional dumping ground or not, we all think your real! Group hugs on Lacunae everyone.

@Rum (and partially to Kip & Iron):...No...just...no...
Might wanna tone it down a bit. I'm all for derailing, lulz, sexytimes and kinky stuff and all that, but there's a time and a place for everything, and it's really starting to noticeably agitate people a bit. Just, tone it down, alright?

Also, no thank you, I don't swing that way. But if I ever happened to be in Houston, and you had some nice young lady around...

I don't have any specific scenarios in mind, but I've noticed that the story is getting more involved with the Pegasi. Perhaps some faction might be willing to assist them on their way?
(Personally, I'm all for the crew taking another trip above the clouds.)

That would be hilarious.

Hey Robored, I mentioned this before but I'm not sure you saw, did you know we both live in Nebraska? I thought that was awesome.

HUZZAH! A third child of the corn is present in the forums!

Whereabouts are you, if you don't mind my asking? I'm at Omaha. Tytan's at North Platte.

I'm following this topic closely so I won't derail it, but I had another idea some of you can mull over. A rifle that fires an iron or steel spike via a magnetic generator or possibly gauss coils. Inside the gun is a device that irradiates the projectile with a relatively high dose of magical radiation. I'm thinking it would fire in two-shot bursts (I have a worry that a third shot would be pushing it or would go wild in most situations. It also has a built-in medium-power scope for silently murdering people politely saying hello and inviting them to tea at long range.

EDIT: @derailings You'll only see such a large amount of derailing once in a while, I suppose I had a lot of crazy in my system at the time but I'll be more respectful on most occasions.

Blackjack needs her own what the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll
have you know I graduated top of my class...

(Yes, this again. Blackjack could EASILY make a version of this with her story.)

At the risk of taking this forum in the wrong direction and being sacrificed to the dark gods as punishment people getting agitated, I think "rustling cock" applies to Blackjack if you look at recent chapters.

I cast Racism.
Spoiler:

Anyway, somewhat back on topic, what were to happen if you dumped a bunch of enervation rings into the immediate area of an alicorn?
