Okay, quick questions :

- Do I need to have played and finished Bioshock 1 & 2 in order to enjoy playing Infinite Y/N ?
- Is there a demo ?...

I started playing the first Bioshock, and I got bored after about three levels/chapters/areas/whatever they call them. I kept getting new spells that were nowhere near as efficient as just burning everything, I think I've encountered all the enemy types and none are particularly threatening, the plot doesn't seem like it's going to move again until the end, but I've got like half a game worth of slogging before I get there.

From what I've heard I'll probably enjoy the second game better, and Infinite looks cools but I'm definitely not getting it for a long while. I'll probably wait until it's like $8 on steam, unless I find myself with a lot of videogame playing time in the near future.

That game and Dishonored seems like they could be cool, but the time I spend playing games is so little these days that it took me a week to finish an old game I played in less than a third of the time when I was younger.

Dishonored is fucking amazing though, if you have any taste for stealth games. Lovely terrible world, nice controls, only problem is that it'll screw up your mental pathfinding for every other game you play for weeks. (Okay, just blink up there and- fuck. Okay, I'll vault over that wall and- nope. Hop up to that ledge and creep over to- Fine, stairs it is...)

Well, I just completed a (short) story. It's under 1300 words, so nothing crazy, but I just pounded it all out in two hours, so that felt good. Theoretically getting critique on it tomorrow in class. Hopefully it's not too brutal, the content's kinda weird. Does.... anyone wanna see it? Fair warning, it hasn't got any fighting in it or anything, or any ponies, and I'm still in that stage in which I can't tell you if it's good or not with any semblance of impartiality or accuracy.

edit: I mean, hopefully the story's not too brutal, not the critique. I like brutal critiques, because it helps me gauge reactions on drafts.

I don't find it boring, I find it frustrating.

And the answer is, you give control of a tank to a bunch of drooling, window-licking, pants-on-head retarded individuals who can't play for shit. I have gone through so many losing streaks that are the result of my team getting steamrolled with the opposing team getting nary a scratch. It's fucking ridiculous.

That said, I still find the game fun enough to play.

I was laughing near the end of that story, Cobalt. I'm picturing this big, dramatic scene, like a life-or-death battle, but in the form of an alligator drowning in the toilet. The bathos cracked me up.

Well, there was theoretically a four page limit, but it was a pretty soft limit. I do think that the ending felt abrupt, but part of my problem with lengthening it was that I really didn't want to give it a sense of resolution; I liked that the narrator was thinking that everything was somehow going to work out, while the reader (in theory, at least) could tell that it absolutely wasn't. (It also was part of the prompt that we retell an old, well-known story/myth in a different way, and the alligators in the New York sewer system myth ends once the alligator's gone down the drain; this isn't to say that I wasn't allowed to expand beyond the confines of the prompt, because we were, but that it made it feel more right to end there while I was writing it) Anyway, I do know that I've historically had issues with ending pieces (part of me apparently is a big fan of letting things drop without warning) so thanks for the input! Any other thoughts on things you might change with regards to the ending?
