That's... bullshit.

Yeah, there's a lot of shitty self-insert HiE fics. Yeah, 90% of humanized pony stuff is shit. But 90% of everything is shit. Stories with humans in them are no worse than stories without humans in them, no fucking reason is given for any of this, and it completely blocks out a huge set of possible awesome stories.

Well, if I needed another reason to not be writing on Fimfiction...

edit: I also note with amusement that all the top rated comments are protesting this, and about half of the attempts to defend it by the person running the site are auto-hidden because of all the downvotes.

Hmm. Well, I have barely looked at the whole thing, but my impression so far is that it's probably a prank combined with a "Oy, stop being mean to knighty, it could always be worse!" message. That's how I'd do it, anyway, were I trying to be extremely passive aggressive. Buuut it also might not be. I dunno, it seems a lot like an Andy Kaufman thing - jokes and stunts and manipulation that entertain the performer and nobody else.

See, the first message could easily be interpreted as a prank. The second, they specifically said 'yes it's april fools day, yes the first post was written in a flippant and humorous manner and could easily be taken as a joke, but this is a thing that is really happening. All the jokes were an attempt to soften the blow, and I apologize if they were taken poorly, but this is the absolute truth.' This leaves two possibilities, either they have the shittiest sense of humor in history and no understanding of social interactions or human psychology, or they're actually telling the truth (and have very little understanding of social interactions or human psychology).

What happened this time?

Nothing much. Simply that I currently in a period at school where I can pretty much go when I want it for all practical purpose, that I've been so stressed out last night that I couldn't find sleep before 2:30AM, and that my mom this morning not only came into my room at 7:00AM to tell me to wake up, she also had the audace of telling me straight to my face that I was "leading a bad life" when I told her to leave me the fuck alone to sleep ; simply because she think she knows my current situation but knows only half of the cards in the game.

I love her and she may intend well, but it does not stop me from being quite pissed-off at here at this instant.


There's a reason why "Hell is paved with good intentions" is one of my personal mottos.

Being forced by circumstances to still live at the parental home at my age simply because of practical reasons sucks let me tell you that.

And I'm not going to spend the €850 of my salary (which I'm currently saving for the future) to rent an appartement and feed myself when I currently live not even 30 minutes of commute away from my school & work.

Helping all the victims of War, regardless of the side they fought on, to come to term with the Scares it left them, psychological and physical, sure - hell, as someone who is seriously considering joining the armed forces of my country it would be hypocritical and self-destructive to say something else ;

Comforting the fools in their foolishness as they commit crimes, on the other hand, is another thing entirely.
