@Ironmonger: so let's see Big Mac doesn't die. Well first of all no Power Armor or steel rangers, or at least significantly delayed. But we never saw many affects of the steel rangers before the bombs fell. I think the big change would be that Applejack would never devote herself as wholeheartedly to her ministry, she wouldn't see it as her responsibility as much as something forced on her. The affect of that would be possibly more corrupt war time technologies developement but little actual change. But I think Applejack would be much more willing to find a peaceful solution or even cede the war to the zebras.
Twilight would also probably be more mellow if Big Mac survived, she might have kept her foal, which means Blackjack's line wouldn't have survived if the bombs did fall. But I think if Teilight had a kid, she would be more desperate to end the war then necessarily win it. With Fluttershy already looking for peace, that gives us half the ministry mares ready to end the war without a victory. So I think if Big Mac didn't die the war could have ended drastically different.

@Ironmonger: I don't think that would be the case. Big Mac wasn't a tactical genius, he just knew his squad was tough and knew how much they could take. When he was told to retreat but he knew he didn't have to, he didn't. I think the battle changes would have been minimal, his biggest legacy was how his death effected those he knew, not how his death impacted the tide of battle.

Anyways if Mac didn't die in the assassination attempt I believe he would eventually become a prime target in zebra assassinations for his leadership. The gang would still remain together and become some legendary group or something. AJ would still be frightened at losing her brother, and would still go on with the armor projects. Though I've no clue what would happen with Twilight and her kid if Mac lived though.

@OneMoreDay: I don't think Big Mac would ever get to a rank where he would be a target for assassins. Like I said before, he wasn't a tactician, he wasn't even particularly smart. At best you could say he had a good feel for the way a battle was going, and how to respond accordingly. So maybe, maybe, he would get to Captain. But even that I think is a little high.

That's something I've been meaning to ask you lot of writers about. How long does it take you all to writer a chapter normally?

because if we only count the time I'm writing, two days. Three, maybe four if it's going slow.
I can easily smash 6k words in four hours if I'm feeling good about myself, though usually I do about 3k words per day so it's anywhere between 2 - 4 of actual writing.

...Well fuck, Frost and I only manage 1,000 per day, and that's on a good day. Most of the time we are too busy and other times we fight writers block.

EDIT: ...Then again we aren't writers by passion, mostly by hobby, plus we are still in high school...might have something to do with it...

The fastest I can put two chapters out from one another is probably about a week, though usually I like to take a week away from writing for the planning stage of the next chapter upcoming and to simply give myself a chance to chill out.

Right now my pace has gone massively downhill with a mixture of illness and emotional issues (as we all saw) but I'm feeling that it's going to start going back up to one chapter every two weeks, hopefully. I would absolutely adore one chapter every two weeks or at least one every two and a half.


But yeah, 6k words in a single sitting is something I've done a few times now.

I'm between passion and hobby. I do love writing, but with how little feedback I get it really makes it hard to keep motivated all the time.
I adore Arcus and Joey for that though, they're both constantly telling me I'm awesome and that they can't wait for the next chapter but not to rush and push myself and yadda yadda.

It's just a shame that so few of my supposed fanbase are willing to be vocal.

At optimal speed Frost and I would be able to put out 1.5-1.7 chapters a month. Current chapter we are writing is expected to be 20K (we've already passed 15K). I know exactly how that is. Armed Redemption has over 300 views but only 10 likes and a handful of comments. If that isn't how it is feel free to tell me, I'm a bit tired.
