Tl:dr; Rich bitch that was born heir to tons of money and having people drive her never got injured more than hitting her toe all throughout her life(well childbirth though), and never saw anyone ever die or such all of a sudden when her mom died realized that people really can die and that death wasn't just some fictional thing in a movie.swicked wrote:...clarify a bit?
Did her pain receptors not work?
Or are you exaggerating and only feel she never felt pain over some arbitrary threshold that makes it qualify as "real"?
A more in depth explanation would be: grandma, "Wait what mom's dead?! You mean death isn't something fictional like harry potter?! You mean people really can get in a car accident and lose their hands or fingers?! YOU MEAN DEATH IS SOMETHING REAL! You mean I'm going to eventually die one day?! OMG DEATH IS REAL! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Well, her inability to associate properly with the real world wouldn't be because she was sheltered, it's be because she has some sort of disassosiation problem. Probably a mental problem.cb5 wrote:Tl:dr; Rich bitch that was born heir to tons of money and having people drive her never got injured more than hitting her toe all throughout her life(well childbirth though), and never saw anyone ever die or such all of a sudden when her mom died realized that people really can die and that death wasn't just some fictional thing in a movie.swicked wrote:...clarify a bit?

I always knew she was going to go looney one day. She never really understood work either cause she never worked a day in her life. If someone is never introduced to the concept of death or pain or work or hardship chances are they are going to go looney eventually when they realize what it is. Imagine if someone never once in their life experienced physical pain all of a sudden one day stepped on a lego. If there is mental illness for such individuals I don't even know what it would be called.Scyto Harmony wrote:Well, her inability to associate properly with the real world wouldn't be because she was sheltered, it's be because she has some sort of disassosiation problem. Odd that you mention that on both counts. Several times I've stopped my family's lighthearted joking dead in its tracks as they looked at me and just said "too far".swicked wrote:Now, sure, you've likely never done anything that caused permanent harm, but I for one am still learning how not to take a joke too far.
Which is odd because, several years back, I responded extremely negatively to teasing. Made for a rocky relationship with my spouse, at first.
When I was younger (anywhere from 7 to 15) I was pretty pissed all the time because I just could not take a joke at all. Nowadays, it's quite rare for me to get angry (though it surprises even me with its severity when I do) and, as I've mentioned, my friends and I regularly hurl insults and verbal abuse at each other.

Valikdu, might I please trouble you to, the next time you're on the Victoria II pony mod thread, ask about the possibility of releasing the USA (and New England and the CSA) after conquering the USA? I'd like to be able to control North America without actually having to run North America. You're under no obligation, of course.
(Yes, I could make an account, but it doesn't seem worth it for this one thing.)

Not sure what you mean by "socialite" here. I have a handful of close friends and deliberately avoid talking to anyone else more than necessary.swicked wrote:hmmm.
You're better at this than I ever was. Maybe because you're more of a socialite.
Whether or not I can take a joke is a bit of a give and take, but I've gotten a lot better at responding correctly.
Lots of other stuff, too... my biggest problem has always been with simply picking up on other peoples' emotions. It's a difficult thing to learn if it doesn't come naturally to you.
Heck, when I was really young (elementary school), I was all but disconnected from reality. I would talk to people as if we'd already spoken, verbalize half-thoughts and get angry or upset when they didn't remember what they never knew. I'd just expect them to think what I was thinking. I was a very confusing and difficult to understand child.
Personally, I'm pretty damn good at reading people. I've often perplexed and unnerved people when I suddenly bring up that they apparently have a problem--They'd had an uneasiness or insincerity about their expression that they never meant to be picked up on, but I spotted near-instantly.
I've had problems similar to that, but in the inverse--I'd forget that we'd spoken, and wound up bringing up the same subject several times. I'm far better about it now, but I used to have huge problems with names.

The fact that it'd be mostly hands-free and lightweight is counteracted by the fact that it can't do normal smartphone functions, like internet browsing and such. It's good for a have-it-anywhere backup device for making calls and listening to music wherever you need, but it's a novelty otherwise. Naturally, if it has a battery life shorter than several days on standby, it's a waste of time.Admiral Stoic Rum wrote:

i was a.... lets say darker child. the only person i ever cared for and loved died so i was left alone. i turned down peoples offers of friendship alot. i always think about the evil or dark side of a story the most. thats why i feel so connected to the evil characters from movies or novels. i mean face it, everybodys got a dark side. one were afraid to let out. im not saying i hurt people(physically). or kick puppies. if people want to let out theyre dark side, feel free. but DONT let it control your life. life has to have a balance of light and darkness inside ones self for judgement day.

The idea has potential. The problem with a lot of smartphones is that they make them overly complex, and that if they put 300 apps on it's going to annoy people. If they made it a bit wider and had the equivalent of a menu bar on a side panel it could work.Admiral Stoic Rum wrote:

Also I'm finally getting off my ass and drawing. My first drawing in ages is going to be a anthro gilda, cause I really want to draw her for some reason. And I shall draw her. . drumroll please (drumroll) her at the beach wearing a sling bikini applying sun lotion.

How would that be different than using the "release as satellite" function? There's no special event that erases the USA/CSA cores when you conquer them, so it would work as usual.

Man, that was lame. I went on a Gatorade/Fig Newton run and the cashier asked me how my day was and told me to "take it easy, man". I know it's only 11, but goddammit, service industry, it's after nightfall; where are my legal threats and verbal abuse?

I.. what?
Oh, ah, not use to people actually being nice late at night.
I'm not either. I was feeling sorry for this poor lady when I came running into a convenience store less then 10 minutes before midnight up until the point she turned the lights off in the bathroom I was in direr need of. I was going to buy something and tell her to keep the change, but not after that.

But verbal abuse and general dickishness are how I communicate with the world. I already told y'all about the the guy with the gay policeman threats, but then there was another time when I met a guy in line who said he was technically a member of the Mile High Club because he'd gotten laid in Denver.
It's a lot like Harmony said--at night, people stop pretending to be the normal, nice people society expects them to be and start being who they really are--around here, that seems to generally be "unhinged weirdos"

Then that guy must either be the ultimate night person, or the scariest motherfucker around.
After all, what other reason would he have to be nice this late at night?

I would never pretend to like you in the first place; instead I would challenge you to a game of frozen paintball where the rules would be whoever surrenders first loses regardless of how many times you're shot and whoever is the winner gets a bottle of moonshine.
