Actually that was me. I think it's gotten to the point where you're excessively advertising that story. I think most of the people who were interested in reading it have done so. Sorry if that makes me an asshole.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I'm not trying to advertise it at all though.
I saw the image, I laughed. I made no mention of the story myself, I posted it for others who would get the joke.
When Swicked wanted an explanation, I explained.
The only thing you could even slightly hold against me in that respect is my main story, which is my signature.
I made no advertisement. I have not given the link. I've not encouraged others to go check it out - I simply made a joke.
Wanna speak to me about this shit next time rather than passive-aggressively acting all upset over it?

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
It's not the downvotes that matter, but the implied attitude along with it.
I'd prefer someone speaks to me and says if I'm annoying them than making some visual effect of their annoyance without any clue what I'm doing wrong.
Besides, in this case, you turned out to be wrong and so me making a fuss about it turned out to be a good thing.
If you wanna argue your point that I'm not right/you're not wrong, go ahead.
Otherwise, you were showing annoyance at something you thought you saw but never actually happened and I ain't keen on letting others hate my actions when I've done nothing wrong.
One of the few things I'm a stubborn cunt about, that.
Edit: actually, I should clarify. I'm normally stubborn about things should I truly care about them, I'm also a part-time cunt. However, on matters such as these, I evolve into a true stubborn cunt which mixes both of those into one.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I was wrong? I'm under the impression the like/dislike system implemented in most sites is just a quick way of... well letting others know you like or dislike something. And I still sorta think you were advertising. That was probably not the intent when you originally posted but I think it's what it became in the end.
As far as your signature goes there's a difference between actively and passively advertising.
And if your problem comes from not knowing what you did wrong that kinda evaporated when I told you. So yeah I don't see your issue. In any case I'm done discussing this.
@stringtheory It would seem so.

No, I was not advertising.
1. The post was made to explain.
2. There was no telling of the story's title
3. There was no telling of where to find the story
4. There was no encouragement to go read the story
5. It was completely without intent. If you call that advertising, I suppose explaining any puns or in-jokes is advertising too? Go look at the post again and tell me how I was advertising it. Hell, I said in the origin of the chain post 'only some will get it, to those who do, you'll probably laugh' - not 'Go read my story to understand it so you can laugh too!'
Again, if you can argue against these five points with anything other than twisted logic (example: 'well I felt you were advertising, that's that') feel free to do so. Otherwise, your point on this issue is mute and you are proven to be misunderstanding the situation.
Edit: again, it's not really about the upvote/downvote but more the fact it was a sign of displeasure without context.
I can't stop doing something - or explain why I wasn't doing that something to begin with - if I have no idea what you think I'm doing.

Jury-Rigging is ridiculously powerful... but it's also honestly kinda how I would have liked repair to work in the first place, albeit in a toned-down form. As long as it's not FO3's repair, though... eugh.
Here's my relationship with Fallout 3 and NV, seems like. I play New Vegas, because I know it's got the better mechanics. After a reasonably long while, I get bored of how constrained the game fees, and the atmosphere, and switch to 3. But then I get massively irritated by the godawful systems attached to 3 (REPAIR WHY), and the fact that you basically have to make your own fun always. I think that's my main issue with NV: there's no room to just fuck around and sneaksnipe your way through raider encampments built on crumbling highway ramps. Conversely, the problem with FO3 is that that's all there is to do, because the main quest is bad and should feel bad, and the sidequests are frankly not memorable (or are memorably bad). I know NV is more realistic, and more true to the Fallout universe, but I liked having 95% of the locations on the map being filled with psychotic raiders packing heat. There were a lot of fun and even unique encounters in 3 completely separate from any quest. For me, that was the most fun part of the game, and it was almost completely absent in NV, replaced with a kinda lackluster story campaign about a bunch of idiotic jerkass factions who seemed to think you were supposed to respect them for some reason (like, I get that you're not playing the Savior of the Wasteland Vault-Dweller type, but seriously... I have taken down Caesar and a massive fortress single-handedly because I was bored... why am I still expected to blindly follow orders? Why is player agency given so little respect, especially in a game where you could reasonably expect to win in a fight versus literally everything else in the game at once [given enough exploding rounds and enough distance, and a game engine that could actually handle it]?). Old World Blues did kick ass, though, even if the enemy types were kinda boring to fight mostly.
For Fallout 4, I don't see why they can't combine the best of the two - a massive (we are talking proper massive) semi-settled cityscape of several warring factions, and a nigh-unsettled wilderness outside filled with nasty tribals, inbred Innsmouth-looking raiders (assuming it's set in the Boston area), ghouls, cannibals, nihilists with ferrets, pine trees, and outlaw gangs. This way, if the main quest is crap, or you've just played it too many times, the game has a fallback position of just being fun to dick around in. /shrug That's my take, anyway.
Unrelated: just watched Pacific Rim (lazy weekend). It was very fun. Very possibly the best Gilly del T blockbuster film out there (his Spanish language artsy-horror stuff still stands alone). Great worldbuilding, humor, action, and characters (considering, I should note, that it's a film about giant robots versus giant monsters, and that a lot of the screentime is devoted, rightly, to this premise). Apparently it made an ungodly sum of money, so that's good.

Speaking of fallout 4; it has been known about for ages. What is known about it is that it's going to be in maine years after fallout 3 and new vegas. Considering the devastating loses the enclave suffered in fallout 3 it would make sense, cause without the enclave to keep the peace the area would be reduced to anarchy.
If they ever make fallout 5 some potential locations left would be texas(cause that is far away from the ncr, legion, brotherhood or enclave territory) or the deep south. Those two could work cause if guns were a plenty they could write it off as anarchy. Locations like north dakota or such wouldn't work cause there wouldn't be anything to do. Alaska would be a awesome idea for a future game cause it could introduce a camoflauge system, as well as a actual survival system to survive the cold.

Also, as much as it's a cliche of open-world games, I'd really love to see a Fallout game set in New York. It's just such a complex mix of cultures that it would be fantastic to see it develop in a post-apocalyptic city. A Fallout-ized Chinatown utterly covered in decaying patriotic posters would be an amazing location to visit.

It wasn't as much that it was broken, but Shotgun Surgeon utterly wrecks anything.Moodyman90 wrote:I don't think Jury-Rigging needs to be toned down, but maybe moved to a few level down the line. I'm also curious on what perks ya'll thought was broken or needed to be nerf.

True, it would be really heavily nuked, but can you imagine the tribes that would form among the fragmented survivors? Rad-Italians battling Rad-Chinese while the Rad-Irish snipe the Rad-Germans, all over a few shattered city blocks. It'd be a bit like a fusion of Fallout 3 and Honest Hearts, a desolate city-scape dominated by the descendants of pre-war "tribes" who have long since forgotten their roots.swicked wrote:New York would probably be nuked about as badly as DC or Vegas.Scienza wrote:If I remember correctly, it's probably going to be in Boston.

I don't imagine any diverse cultures still existing there, just people that have moved there since.
Plus, you know, lots of tall buildings all reduced to rubble. The city is set up like dominoes.
But maybe another House could have knocked away almost every missile.
Just walking around a ruined and war-torn Time Square would be fantastic.

Combined with And Stay Back (and perhaps one other perk, which escapes me at the moment) it basically turned the Hunting Shotgun into a Deathclaw/Cazadore flyswatter for me, even loaded with ordinary roundsScienza wrote:It wasn't as much that it was overpowered, but Shotgun Surgeon utterly wrecks anything.
Regarding the New York debate, I personally think that they'd have to work to make it unique for it to be noteworthy.
Some still-standing skyscrapers turned into self-sufficient havens, but filled to the brim with corruption and all the paranoia and jingoism of the Old World.
The subways become the home of a new order--they struggle to survive, they can be brutal, and their society might seem strange to those above, but it's clear they won't fall into the same traps that the Old World did and that the Tower-Dwellers clearly will.
On the streets, isolated outcasts and scavengers move in shadows, as silent as ghosts to avoid horrors that the rest of the Wasteland can't even dream about, horrors whose hunger can never be satiated and whose howls ever echo on the wind that moves between the towering monoliths of the Old World.
And the river.....Just steer clear of the river, okay?

It'd be incredibly hard to do right, but just imagine what the most populous city in the US would look like pre-war. Then strip away the concept of law and order for 200 years.Mister Frost wrote:Combined with And Stay Back (and perhaps one other perk, which escapes me at the moment) it basically turned the Hunting Shotgun into a Deathclaw/Cazadore flyswatter for me, even loaded with ordinary roundsScienza wrote:It wasn't as much that it was overpowered, but Shotgun Surgeon utterly wrecks anything.

I also kinda see Manhattan as a bastion of the Enclave, perhaps doing a Mr. House over sections of the city
The Hudson's already radioactive. And the river.....Just steer clear of the river, okay?
That's also something that would be interesting to see. Relatively early in the Wasteland's history (~30 - 100 years after the bomb). Feral ghouls and other mutants are everywhere, the few survivors of the bombs attempting to achieve some semblance of their old lives. Times are changing, as some of the shittier Vaults are starting to open up, and the Brotherhood begins to crawl out of their hidey-holes.swickedI guess this would be set in the first couple decades following the war, then?
'Cause the ghouls wouldn't reproduce, so an open war between them would result in there likely being none before long.
Plus, again, the entire city would just be a pile of rubble. DC and Vegas were reduced to almost nothing and they had active defenders. I don't see things ending well for New York. Any vaults would be very deeply buried.
