Has anyone else encountered a few FIMFiction pages redirecting to sketchy-looking magazine websites?  I've encountered two today, the page for Seeking Power being one of them.  It does seem to be something on the pages themselves, as tests indicated it happened every time with those pages and not at all with any of the others I tried.  I tried opening Seeking Power's in Firefox, with and without scripts enabled, and didn't get this in either case, which suggests to me that it's some code in one of the advertisements that the Firefox tests didn't unblock.  However, it seems odd to me that an advertisement-based attack like that would appear always and only on certain pages, as I'd expect that advertisement to show up all over the website at one time or another.  It's not targeted, either (or at least not at all well-targeted), as I don't think there's much on the page of Seeking Power that suggests the readers would also be interested in, say, Good Housekeeping (one of the pages redirected to, or at least what it claimed to be).

I also don't know how this is actually supposed to catch anyone ("Well, I have no idea how I got here and it wasn't all where I was intending to go, but sure, I'll enter my address and credit card number!"), but that seems to be a feature of a great many scams and the like.

edit: Well, getting AdBlock Plus to handle it has indeed stopped the redirects.  Now I've got the big red boxes asking me to please put up with the annoyance in the cause of supporting FIMFiction, which I was previously doing, but I really don't care for unknown code wresting my browser away from things I want to look at to things I'd not be interested in even if I was convinced that they were safe and legitimate.

As many of you know, we've been having issues with redirecting ads. Unfortunately these are largely out of my hands, and it's entirely Adsense's fault that these are getting through and they're doing an extremely poor job of dealing with it. This is an issue on tons of other big sites right now like tvtropes and neogaf, it's across the whole network.

Consequently, while I probe adsense for why this isn't fixed, I've disabled all display ads on the site, which means the only ads will be text and image ads which in theory should not have any javascript whatever, and therefore zero possibility for redirecting ads. I don't know if the changes go through instantly but hopefully redirecting ads should be gone right now.

Apologies for the inconvenience, I am as annoyed by this as you guys because it's very damaging to the site!

edit: Looks like we still have flash ads right now, so it might just take a little while for these changes to go through.
