Dang, guys. It's frickin' cold out. One degree when I checked the temperature this morning (that's in Fahrenheit). Also I have a headache, and I've been trying to cut down on NSAID usage because they're not great for your liver or kidneys or something. :( On the other hand, I also have a giant jar of nutella and am enjoying writing stuff when my headache isn't too distracting. :)

It was 5F here the other day
Good times were had by none
KlK is a rather lackluster anime, and I hesitate to even call it anime at times
I think I'll snooze the day away today; who wants to join me?

KLK was to anime what Strapping Young Lad was to heavy metal (circa the early aughts). Both were exceptional in their own right, but were also satires of their own genre. Also both aren't to everyone's taste, and neither worked well if you took them too seriously.
Also, I gave in and took painkillers and I think they're working because the pain just got way worse and diffused across my skull and neck but now it's fading. Anyone know why that happens?
@Frost
Scorpion reminds me of how I tend to play Metal Gear Solid games: if everyone's dead, sneaking becomes much easier. Are you a Mortal Kombat fan, incidentally? I'm not much of one for fighting games, but I've watched some of the trailers for MK 10 (or X, not sure which one's the title), and they looked pretty neat.

Ah, yes
Shows that don't take themselves seriously
Painkillers don't kill the pain, they just deaden it so it can make more pain and cripple you
The doctors are laughing at you
Might I suggest Midol?

Anyone else imagine Lyra playing her lyre, only for it to produce heavy metal chords?

Don't some 40K figures come disassembled and unpainted?
Or was that only during Ye Olde Dayes?

Problem with boobplates?
Although I feel that the male armor would suit females just fine; plus, it makes you less of a target

Unless you're buying second hand all the models from Games Workshop come disassembled and unpainted, the painting and modeling is part or even most of the appeal for some people.Vinylshadow wrote:Don't some 40K figures come disassembled and unpainted?

I do like some MK, yeah. Fighting games aren't my genre, either, but MK's a fighting game I can enjoy and, amazingly enough, am not horrible at.Overlong Analysis Cobalt wrote:@Frost

I can see the appeal
Although I'd probably go with a black/red/gold scheme that no doubt already exists as some kind of clan or faction, so...
Alas, I'm not suited for that sort of thing

A pathetic excuse only befitting of the weak-willed.

But more seriously, I'm at a point where I'd actually like to not have to work to make a living in order to be free to dedicate my time to writing, drawing, music... things line that.
But heh, at least if I don't get screwed over, I should start working on planes by June.

Well, at least they do go out with a bang, and tend to leave quite an impact in doing so.
Still annoying when you have to clean after them, though.

Personally I prefer anime that doesn't take itself seriously. It's so much easier to ignore the flaws when you know the creators really just want to have giant robots throwing galaxies at eachother. That's why I have a problem with attack on titan. That anime wants to have it's cake and eat it too, it wants you to fear the titans and then use them as comic relief.

Reading through Project Horizon's TVTropes page
Heh...much faster recap that way
-
Also found a Pokemon fanfic where the limitations on Pokémon moves are released, making them lethal
The whole world descends into war, with some Legendary Pokémon wanting all humans destroyed
If the tropes are to be believed, I think Frost and Swicked would enjoy the series...
Gratuitous violence, gorn (lovingly described scenes of death and destruction) and plenty of military hardware used to liquify Pokémon, while pokemon moves can liquify humans
Gravity, in the games, merely prevents pokemon from flying and levitating
In this series, it can turn harmless rain into a downpour of bullets
String shot, which usually lowers speed, can now shred through flesh and bone
Hehehe...

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
@Last: I can't say I recall the Titans themselves being used as comic relief. They were always dangerous threats at best and terrifying monstrosities at worst. And I'd rather have a mostly-serious, if flawed, series that the creators put effort and thought into than a series where the creators said "fuck it" and just made explosions happen with no concern over keeping a consistent story. That's not to say surrealism or absurdism can't work in a good story, but there are a lot of works, Western and Eastern, that put forth little pretense of a compelling story or even entertainment beyond an "Oooh, look, explosions" sort of way.
