What is a good healthier pick-me-up substitute for energy drinks if I do not have any preparation time? Sodas are obviously not. I just tried a Dr. Pepper on my way to work. Apparently sodas do not appeal to me as much anymore. A tad nauseous.

Though it not pick-me-up and more 'get-me-the-fuck-down'...you can try mixing coffee, energy drink and cola (if needed I'll tell exact in what proportions). Back in my student days..2 days before important exam..let's say I haven't slept for 3 days and didn't feel tired..though after that I spelt almost for 1 day.

Odd that five hour energy didn't work, but then again you have to wait for it to take effect since it's not relying on caffeine in the long run. (5 hour energy has a metric butt ton of B vitamins that give you energy.)
