FPS isn't my genera, in part, because I can rarely see the difference between one and another gameplay-wise.
Same kinds of guns, grenades, whatever, same kinds of enemies (other characters with guns or melee weapons), point and click. Some FPS require you to plan out your engagements rather than just tanking everything... but yeah. Still all pretty much the same.
The only first person games I particularly like are stealth-based like Dishonored and the next Thief game.

One of the biggest problems with video games is that they think that hundreds of weapons = better game.  Fuck no.

Depends, really. If the weapons have attributes that made them in some way unique, having different combinations of advantages and disadvantages even if they are similar, than I'd lean towards more weapons. If they're skin-swapped weapons with a tweak, then less would be better. I like having options in how I deal with (aka kill) a monster/NPC, who might have attributes that I have to work around with the weapons I'm carrying. Not just "Biggest gun/sword equals shoot/stab EVERYTHING".

Hey now. Your companions have names you know. For instance I call that npc "bullet shield 1", that npc, "bullet shield 2" and that npc, "Shit I can't carry" :V

Well personally I think Fawkes was more interesting than Boone... but to be fair that isn't saying much. And Rex is dogmeat but with robot parts.

Course for every moment like that, there's moments where your whole team in TF2 is pinned in spawn because the server has been hit with a glitch that causes two Heavies to have infinite ammo and regens health faster than you could deal it, never mind the Medics. And yet despite that they're still vulnerable to a Spy's backstab and netting me three to four achievements at once.

I still have yet to play Magicka. Had it for months but still haven't played it.

I actually gave it a shot a couple of days ago, also had it for months. It was... quite decent-good I guess.

(Game) Psh, played fire emblem. What's that you say? I got 99 % hit chance and 65 % crit? Enemy has 3 % hit, 1 % crit and I can't even die from that? Attacks twice>Misses>Enemy retaliates>Procs Luna>Hit>Crits>Game over... seems legit.

@EP: Hum, quite a bit more people knew about panty bulges than I gave the internet credit for. (and I mean PROPER ones)
