Ah, I think that your brain may still be calibrated for our universe.  In our universe, yeah, it's ridiculous.  In the Fallout universe, however, this is simple some of the finest SCIENCE! around.  Also, remember that pretty much every character still in Big Mountain, except possibly the courier, could be called clinically insane.

My brain is calibrated for every universe, simultaneously. (Innuendo goes here) Now that I understand your point of view, part of me agrees completely. (SCIENCE! is power, as evidenced by my LAER vaporizing your head.) I'd say that maybe OWB is more consistently in tone with the setting than the other DLCs, but again I've only played OWB so I can't really judge. Though I have picked up some stuff about Lonesome Road, and what I've seen is fairly terrible.

Honest Hearts barely has any SCIENCE! in it at all; apart from some mutated wildlife, the events could pretty much happy IRL.  Dead Money has much more SCIENCE!, but most of it is explained in the setting.  Still a few "...What?"s, though.  Lonesome Road... There are some good bits (and Ulysses is fine so long as you assume that he's just crazy; I had some trouble with his motivations until I realized this), but there's a lot of stuff that just strikes me as stupid.  How to put it... It feels like a setting, not a place, and a setting to which Bellisario's Maxim very much applies. Oh, and it tries for a very epic ending, but in my opinion it doesn't succeed.

In fallout 3 I can honestly say that I didn't mind the dumbing down of those poor deathclaws, so long as I got to bareknuckle box with them for at least one game. Became a ritual. As I've said before in this thread, strip, then engage.

For armor, I usually stay light (sneaky sneaky, after all) or, at the heaviest, medium (the Elite Riot Gear was too useful and too fucking cool to pass up, and it's still glitched to where you can wear the helmet and the 1st Recon Beret at the same time) but otherwise I stick to either Ulysses' Duster or Joshua Graham's armor

So this may be a bit out of place now but, I just saw Pacific Rim. I thought it was a rather good movie action was excellentand was overall enjoyable. This movie also proved that it is possible to make a good Mech Warrior movie. Which I.hope they do since that would be awesome.

I agree with that almost completely.

The one limit I have to set on it is when people start taking advantage of it or relying on it.

For example - if we get to the point where we genetically modify every aspect of a child (beyond only fixing certain fatal/harmful mutations), that's too much in my opinion. On top of that, I'd like to think we should wait to see if the children of those who were treated have any severe issues because of it before this becomes common practice.

Same thing applies to abortion - I'm fine with it happening, do your thing. But if it gets to the point where someone is on their 4th abortion, it's time to send them back to sex-ed and temporarily sterilize them until they stop being an idiot.

I agree with this totally.
I didn't make it clear, but abortion isn't contraception and if anyone treats it as such, they deserve to be sterile.
It's for accidents, mistakes that they wouldn't normally make but somehow did, cases where they had no option (yeah.. that) and cases where something like the condom split.
Maybe even cases where they've been drinking and it's knocked off the effectiveness of the pill or something, but the once should teach them a lesson on that.

Using abortion as a easy way out because you forgot your pill is a joke. Using abortion because you can't afford to take care of a kid that you honestly didn't mean to have and did realistically try to prevent without going full retard and choosing abstinence is okay though.

And yes, 'designer babies' are sickening. Not to the kids themselves, but the parents who chose to have it done.
Life threatening situation? do it.
Think you can remove a high risk of cancer or something? do it.
Something along the lines of cleft pallet? Do what you can to the genes, sure.
Want blond hair blue eyes? Go get fucked.

That is a pretty interesting discussion actually.  How does everyone on here play the fallout games?

 With Project Nevada, to ramp up the difficulty, for one.
Then I'll play stealthy with my varmint rifle / ratslayer because nothing fucking rapes like ratslayer.
Along with that I'll carry a shotgun for close range defence, maybe a rifle for "oh shit! a ranged opponent saw me!" and a few mines with little more.
And because of P.N, I'll be wearing the heaviest armour I can reasonably afford/obtain, regardless of the stealth loss that comes with it. Thing is, I also play with darker nights turned on which ups the stealth bonus because darkness... complete fucking pitch black darkness.

If the baby's going to come out horribly sick or threatening the mother's life, yeah, go for it. If you just don't want to have kids, then most states have a policy that you can drop off your kid at a hospital up to age three and just walk away, no questions asked.

Me personally abortion should be for if emergencies.  If you don't want a kid then wear a condom, or get a reversible vascetomy.  Medical technology has greatly advanced the last few years and no longer is two extremes of permanent or no vascetomy.  Women can get their tubes tied and have it reversible.  Both of these cost little money and some medical insurances do cover it.  There's also morning after pills and such.  Abortion should be for if the condom broke and the morning after pills or birth control pills didn't work.

I'm not against abortions, just my opinion can be summarized as "wear a condom idiot".

Anyone that can't be responsible and abort a baby before it gets to the stage where it's too late despite the fact they know it'll have to go through a life without parents, a life where it'll go from home to home, being fucked up from never getting too close to anyone because they'll be taken away before they know it, without any reason that they can understand.
A life where they might be abused by people posing as good foster carers when in truth they're evil child molesters or something...

 They absolutely nailed the flight. The look, the sun, the clouds, the water-- nailed it. The way they fly is incredibly organic and I think I'm in love with that animation sequence and detail. Toothless is adorable as ever, and Hiccup's puberty is laying dead in a ditch. If Dreamworks can make this work like the original without Shrek'ing the whole thing, chalk this up to another one of my must-sees, right beside The Lego Movie.

I get where people come from with this, but that does mean forcing women to spend months being pregnant in addition to giving birth. Not everyone can do that, and it's still a huge burden even if you can get your government to provide extensive support. Plus, you're forcing away control of people over their body.

There's a larger debate here too: Should we focus on having more humans, or having more quality of life? Obviously ideally we would have both, but anti-abortion is advocated much more strongly ($$$) than improving medical care and research, let alone stuff like better education and orphan care.

Currently found out how to work Steam, and got occupied with Awesomenauts. Other than that I am just trying to work out how I can kick on my collab partners more efficiently to get them to start working. That, and managing to dig through all my fics and correct stuff. Speaking of which: I've come close to fully releasing my Psychoshy fic finally. If I recall, we were not supposed to do promotion, but meh, it's been months since I was here or mentioned anything.. so yeah, expect mindfucks, mindfucks everywhere. Unless I manage to trip over my own elbows again, I expect stuff done before the 30'th. Feel like I'll quit writing though once my current workload is done.

How I play Fallout? In 3, I grabbed a plasma rifle, indestructible power armor, and Grim Reaper's Sprint. Heads flying everywhere. In NV, I took a bit different approach. Light armor, laser rifle with a scope, pick off everything from a distance, pull up my laser tommy gun if that plan failed. Also, both times repair, medicine, science, lock pick, and speech are upped as well. Of course in NV there's so many levels I max out everything anyway and do whatever the fuck I want then.
