Indeed, if the few infos I've gleaned here and there are trustworthy, this is correct.

And then armored knights got raped by archers equipped with longbows or something, provoking a change in tactics.

So about Snowdrop being immune to criticism: Scroll down a bit on this page from reddit and you'll find a few people talking about how they didn't like it. I'm not comparing youtube tor reddit, it's just reddit is the first "public" place I looked at.

Youtube doesn't have a good comment system, really. I tend to ignore it most of the time, but I do know that getting censored (by being 'flagged for spam',) for voicing dislike of a video happens constantly everywhere. It's not a special situation with bronies, it's par for the course for youtube.

So, sorry for not having replied since. Been preoccupied. Anyway, what I desire is romance, I think. Trouble is being an ugly fuck never helps and insecurities from upbringing and previous relationships make me want to avoid it all at the same time.
general interaction isn't something I really need, the internet is enough for that, along with work.
I just spent two weeks off work so that's probably why too.
i'd say the biggest killer is writing the situation I am in Broken Bonds... Romance means a hell of a lot to me and i'm obviously invested in my characters so their romance makes me haappy and satisfied, but sad when it gets hurt...
i'm so strange like that. Letting my own writing upset me or make me happy like it does.

Actually...that's not very strange at all. If you're impacted by you're writing, you done did something right. It means you know your characters, you know how they'd actually feel, and so they are more real. That's always a good thing.
For example: I cried as I wrote my last chapter, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I think you can guess which part.

Apparently not, I do horrible things to characters all the time. At the start I was 'meh' about it, but I've become attached to the characters as I wrote the story and presented their adventure from start to where it is now. Because of it, I've dreamed that I was one of them more than once, and went through some of the horrors I put them through myself, so I get pretty emotional when something particularly sad or bad happens to them at this point.

Man, let me tell you the number of times I've killed / mutilated my characters... Crazy

Well, admittedly, I've never killed them off for real... Usually I just made them suffer fates which could be considered worse than death itself (losing his corpse and having his mind fused to an AI against his will, this after having suffered a terrible agony after a nuclear bombardment ; or loosing her sense of self by fusing with machineries thousand of years old, in the hope of maybe preventing the end of a whole galaxy - end which is certain anyway).

My therapist would have a field day I talked to her about that. :D

@Camo: *man2man hugs*
I've cried while writing my story, too. You'd not believe me though if I told you when. Or, you wouldn't understand why at first without knowing some other aspects about me first.

You're right, I do know my characters very well and I have got a very close attachment to them, but the reason behind that is a lot worse than it should be. It should just be that I've spent so long and worked so hard on it, which true, does add to it.
However, probably just as much of a reason is each character represents a small part of who I am inside. They each take at least one key point and make it their own, along with their own points unique to them.

Because they have a part of me in them, because we have something so close in common, I can write what naturally comes to me for them and it's natural for them too because I'm tapping into what part of me they are.
I know inserting yourself into a character is bad, but it makes it so much more personal and easier to understand.

I could list off what, but I'm sure no-one really wants to hear it all. ha.

@Harmony
Hand you that, my charisma is quite decent and it should make me feel better about myself. In fact, it does. Doesn't stop the lifetime of low self esteem / poor confidence and neglect, however.
There's so many issues that root from my childhood and only got worse in my teenage years because of the lack of nurture I received and things I experienced.
To make it worse, the last few relationships I've had? Terrible.

I give myself too easily and give all I have when I do. That's why I'm not looking right now and sceptical of anything that does present itself.

As for making characters suffer... it ultimately depends on how I'm making them suffer.
I really, really enjoyed giving Crimson blueballs in chapter seventeen for the lulz, knowing what was going to happen after.
That was hilarious for me because I know what sex means to him. (which incidentally, despite being a pervert, doesn't mean a lot to me.)

I'm not going to enjoy some of the things I've got lined up for him, though I have enjoyed others.
It's all about context, but for the most part, I'm very attached to Crimson, Cherry and even Eos, so hurting them hurts me.

When you say character murder, do they have to be a big role or just any role that tags alongside the MC for a little?

I don't know if I can really say I've popped mine yet either, really.

I would say that you pop it when you kill a character who has at least been hinted that they may be a major part and tag along with the main character, even better if it seems like they will undoubtedly be joining the party.
My example is Doc. Survives her town being sacked and burned, her and Charmer are all that is left, the Scorpions 'leave'...

You know the rest.

So yeah, that's the protagonist killer cherry.

Spike

That second character (the woman) is (or rather, was) the more-than-200-years-old leader of a Company of Space Mercenaries, which to her name alone had dozens of thousands of death murders on her consciousness, and through the various orders she has given as a commander provoked the death of at the very least a hundred billion people.

As she confessed herself, she is a complete monster.

She DO feel remorses, but she squash them like a bug under the booth of her sense of duty toward her subordinates / subjects and the Contracts.

And the first character was an arm trader making business on a galactic scale.

Admittedly he was heavily inspired from Nicolas Cage character in "Lord of War".

Hmm, I think that the first long-running character I properly killed off was my favorite sadistic, psychopathic, literal demon. He had at that point gone so far beyond acceptable (past affable, charming spurts of violence and clever, abusive witticisms and into seriously fucked up) that nothing he would do would shock the reader... except his permanent death (he was not actually killable, per se, at least not by anyone inclined to do so). I miss that off-the-wall universe; I should re-write it.

Anyway, he was a main character and sort of a protagonist as well as an antagonist. He and the POV character had a... complicated relationship. I'm gonna need to read "Demons" before taking a crack at it again, though. Gonna need to make the parallels between him and Stavrogin intentional instead of accidental. =P

Current thoughts on Snowdrop:

Wow, look at all the jerk classmates, and incompetent teacher. What kind of teacher sets a long term project and doesn't help along the... I get it, it's to make us feel for the character. *blegh*
Parents, where are they? Oh look the mom in a flashback. If they're dead. I'm gonna... ok not dead. Just a disappeared dad.

The problem about Luna having friends who appreciated her night is that THE WHOLE REASON SHE WENT BONKERS WAS BECAUSE NO ONE APPRECIATED HER NIGHT BACK THEN!

I've played with killing primary characters in the past, but it has yet to happen in my stories' current continuity. Considering the current thematic elements in my current projects, either situations probably won't put the characters in particular danger or require them to survive. Of course, I like curveballs just as much as I do cliffhangers, but I pull off the former far more rarely.
Some day. Got to work on making characters important to the readers first for best effect, though.
