@Harmony
- Spoiler:
- I honestly doubt it was real. It looked essentially like what floaters look like, but the video style (as far as I remember) was reminiscent most of '70s films, and I just don't think it's likely that I stumbled across actual high budget filmed necrophilia. That said, it seemed very realistic at the time, and, prop or corpse, it was anatomically correct in a bunch of ways, and high budget fake necrophilia doesn't seem super likely either. Even less likely is that something like that would be filmed in something OTHER than one of the previously mentioned projects, though, so... I dunno. I thought it might have been a Faces of Death thing for a while, but those films are comparatively tame, and this lacked the hilarious narrator. /shrug
THAT one is real, and it was VERY hard to watch. Too hard for me; I didn't really want to watch it in the first place, so I stopped very early on.swicked wrote:Kipper actually introduced me to the "worst" video I've seen on the internet.

It's not really a "weird" as dead seal humping or cutting a pig in half, though.

- for camo's eyes only:
The group's walking along the road, and suddenly they come along a solitary pony, a dark green earth pony with a close-cropped black mane, wearing Tactcal Armor (it's basically Combat Armor with a balaclava, a tad less weight and lots of pouches, because "Pouches=Tactical" is just common sense) and equipped with a Marksman Carbine, a 10mm Pistol and a Kukri Knife.
The group senses his arrival and prepares accordingly (Char prepares to fight, because he literally does not have the brain capacity for not shooting things on sight; Shadow readies his knives but stays still; and Novae walks right up and says "Hi", ect). The Stallion introduces himself as "Sabbath" and says that they're just the ponies he's been looking for.
He says that he sees they're clearly in need of equipment, and all of them have their own personal loose ends to clear up. He's seen them in action, and he's willing to provide weapons and resources in exchange for various assistance with work around the Wasteland. He represents a very unique group of ponies, and they're always on the lookout for new talent.
If they accept, the Jobs start out fairly innocuous, and they pay well, but as each character progresses down the questline, they start to get a bit more extreme, and a bit more unscrupulous, until the character finds himself performing assassinations on ponies they've never even met. The allure of riches and power awaits, but at the cost of the character's soul.
If they fight him, he'd likely not actually go all out until they'd done a bit of damage. However, he gets two actions per round, but until he's really pressed he utilizes a specialized perk/trait (he's willing to teach a bit down the quest line) that allows him to grapple, block and do non-damage stun attacks in hoof-to-hoof. After all, one wouldn't want to damage valuable resources, ornery as those resources may be.
- Spoiler:
An interesting concept that looks a bit too close to a quest line I've got planned already...

I'm a frayed knot.
That's just a general idea. I think it'd be really cool. As for the perk/trait thing, what can I say, I've had hand-to-hand on the brain the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to Combatitives come Basic, no matter how much I'm going to get the shit kicked out of me.
- speaking of which:
- I've met with my local recruiter several times and am now regularly attending PT. if everything goes well, I'll be officially enlisting after I graduate in May and, according to him, probably have a several-month wait for shipping off to Fort Benning for Basic, if I remember correctly. I plan on 11B.
As someone who's been through this already, do you have any advice or such?

- Spoiler:
1) Always remember it's a game, just follow the rules. Do as you're told, don't talk back, and know that you will always get yelled at. When they yell at you, accept it and just do your pushups like a good little soldier. Everyone will get yelled at, it's part of the process. Everyone will get in trouble, once again part of the process. Just go with it.
2) Like I said, just do as your told. Basic is easy; You're told when to wake up, what to wear, when to eat, etc. Just do everything they say and you'll pass without any problems.
3) Do NOT know everything. Ever. Even if you know the answer to everything they ask you during class, pretend you don't. You don't wanna be that guy who knows it all in Basic.
4) This is the most important one for everybody going to basic at Ft. Benning:
When they let you out of the gas chamber, run out as fast as you can without falling.
5) Embrace the Suck and enjoy it. Basic always seems like it's horrible and shitty, but afterwards you'll realize it's the easiest part of the Army, and actually is enjoyable as long as you aren't the guy who fucks up every morning before they even wake up. Seriously, I almost miss it, and would rather do Basic again than take some of my college classes.

Thanks! As I mentioned, I'm planning on Infantry. You were a Combat Medic, yes?
After the Army (yes, I'm actually planning seven years ahead) I'm planning on Police or Security (not Blackjack. Maybe Blackjack.) though I'm good with any job, really. As long as I can afford Internet, guns, and chowder (and the free time to enjoy them) I'll be a happy man.

No problem, and good work on choosing best line of duty. Infantry is so much better than Artillery or Cavalry (especially Cav... just don't tell my grandpa, other grandpa, uncle and 2 cousins I said that).Mister Frost wrote:

If you do the military, do a deployment and when you get home jump into school. I know I just said it sucks, but just accept that without a degree nobody will fucking hire anymore because real-world experience apparently doesn't matter. Besides, the military will pay for it after you deploy, pay for your books, AND pay you for rent each month (even if you don't pay rent )
Also: NEVER VOLUNTEER TO DEPLOY. I swear to god I'm on somebody's list now, because any time a new deployment comes up in CO I get a phonecall asking if I can go.

I wasn't aware "asking" was in any logistical unit's vocabulary.

That's pretty much the same argument I made to my family. Yeah, it's gonna be difficult at times but it will help set things up for me later. I'll hopefully be working with Frost afterwards.

"Hey, X unit is deploying this May. They have an open medic slot, and your skills will be a great asset to us. Your reviews are all fantastic, and I know we will greatly benefit from your assistance on this mission. Do you need time to talk with your family before making your decision, or can I count you in?"

Or, in the case of last time I was 'asked' to deploy... I answered the phone one day:
"Hey, how's it goin'?"
"Goin' great, how're you man?"
"I'm great. Just looking over your deployment packet. I didn't know you were going with X unit this year."
"You didn't? That's interesting, because I didn't know I was either!"
"Oh? Well you are."
Thank god the mission got cancelled.

Officer: "Hey, we're about to deploy, you in?"

@Frost: The army doesn't do 2 years anymore. That wastes too much money because they have to give you vacation. Instead, they deploy you for 9 months without any time off. Then after you've been home for 2 or 3 months you'll get a call about another deployment and be 'asked' to go along. Welcome to the chain.
That doesn't apply to if you get put in my wonderful deployment as a Combat Advisor: You get to spend around 1 year away from home without vacation despite what the military regulation says, because there aren't enough of you to rotate onto leave.
Those are real deployments.
If you ever hear somebody say "I went to Kuwait for a 2 month deployment", punch them in the mouth and tell them to shut up. That's a mandatory vacation.

Also, does anyone here have any experience with martial arts such as Krav Maga? I'd be really interested in taking classes somewhere

I deployed with a guy that used to be an instructor for Krav Maga. The classes are... interesting. They don't really work on 'skills' like other martial arts. They basically put you in a scenario and say fight your way out.
Normally not win-win situations either. I think one is where they tell you to turn around, and as soon as you do there are 3 guys running at you and you have to somehow win the fight.

From what I've come to understand, it emphasizes efficiency, utilization of anything and everything at your disposal, and disarming and incapacitating (probably not actually killing, but it's a possibility for high-level) your opponent.

That's what I was thinking, to be honest. I just didn't want to overstate, so I erred on the side of understatement.
Anyway, I know I've mentioned several times my passion for guns, gun-like things, and anything having vaguely to do with firearms. However, I think we should all take a moment in appreciation for the underrated, hard-working bits of metal that let you eviscerate people as you stare into their eyes.
