I just got back from Christmas shopping for myself and my nieces. The only things I really accomplished were finding out the prices of laptops at Walmart and Best Buy, and realizing just how much I fucking hate people.

Boys and girls, I should note - I know at least two ladies who are quite into ponies that way.

Anyway, let's not yuck one another's yums, as they say. I'm sure we've all got stuff we do that others would find weird and/or gross as an initial reaction; for example, more than thirty seconds of indie music has a tendency to give me a severe metaphorical bile buildup. Not sure why. It just feels physically repellent to me.

EDIT: I also don't like British weather reports in the middle of live BBC coverage of news incidents. >:|

It's probably not exactly the same line (ah, definitions), but for me it's almost opposite—I dislike almost all music that's on the radio today, but am actually fond of stuff (even in similar styles) that's put out by less mainstream artists, mainly on YouTube. I do know what you're talking about with the repulsion, though; it's in the other direction and not quite as strong, but I have a similar reaction.

And (since several other people seem to have been listing this) my relationship with R34 is rather interesting. I don't like the artwork and most of the fics, but, if I'm honest with myself, the latter is more due to widespread poor quality, and I don't mind the ones written with a bit a lot more care. Still doesn't mean I like clop. Much more fond of shipping, as long as it's well-written and -paced. Even if it heavily uses R34 (though that does tend to need to be an even higher quality). As I said, interesting.

Which is kind of funny, because I didn't like the entire genre until I got into this fandom (and am still not overly excited about it in any other). If I can find good stories, it's now one of my favorite things to read (shipping, not clop). Seems like a good place for one of those "Confound these ponies!" if that's not too antiquated already (I'm out of the loop on meme popularity).

According to Wiki the project was cancelled because of politics and a lack of orders. Sometimes a failed project isn't because it was a bad design (not that I'm implying that one of you said it was). Think of the Pancor Jackhammer.

Ach, I don't even know what's on the radio these days. By "indie" I meant less "independent record label" (because Southern Lord FTW!), and more, well... like this, for instance, I guess. Just... not a fan, at all. Organ's good, but something about it - might be the vocals - just doesn't sit right. Anyway, I have a long and boring history with music; suffice it to say that I like lots of classic rock, lots of progressive rock, lots of electronic stuff, lots of minimalist stuff, and lots and lots of metal (but definitely not all). I get excited when I can identify a song I know on the radio, but that's rare.

Also, and this is absolutely just my opinion, memes are the best when they're so old that nobody remembers or uses them anymore, because then there's nostalgia. :)

meh shits calm now, everyone is just sensitive because it happened, personally I saw on the news, man guns down 32 children in CT elementary school. it was his mothers class he started... and that was all i knew everything else was jibber jabber on the news, and yammer yammer, no other information... so they changed the channel to the spanish news and i could tune it out.

If you mean the Turkey/NATO thing (give me some credit here for trying to understand), basically the Netherlands and Germany are moving I think 800 troops and some anti-air/missile units into Turkey in case Syria tries to launch missiles at the country.

Before I forget, I'm on the fence about getting a laptop or a tablet. I need a mobile workstation that will do a lot so the laptop is the clear choice, but the tablets look so neat, especially the Samsung Galaxy and the Ipad4. Am I missing something important by not getting the tablet?

@ Rum, RE V-22 crashes :

I've had a conversation in the past about that with someone who tends to know his shit over that kind of subjects, and he told me that they've got that sorted out for a while now.

Yeah, tilt-rotors are hard to get right, that's true. But oh boy are they awesome when you DO get them right.

Though thinking about it I'm not sure a tilt-rotor design would be really adapted to the mission-profile an attack helicopter tend to cover (tank-hunter ; close-air support => need for very high maneuverability after moments of staying idle in stationary flight).

Maybe you could conceive some kind of abomination combining the advantages of both ?

Though at that point you could probably buy 5 attack helicopter with roughly the same range of performance apart for the speed and range thingy, for the price of only one of these abominations.


Anyway, Tilt-rotor design are more adapted as transports dedicated to beach-head operations, and generally any operations where you want to go far away, under the radars, as quickly as possible, drop your shit as close as what you want to hit, and scram off as quickly as you went there.

Basically, commando operations deep behind enemy lines.
