Happy to help, now if you'd just get an avatar, we'll be fine and dandy. It makes it a lot easier to identify people when scrolling through days worth of posts. *hides from Cptadder*

- @CptAdder:
- Well, it now shows that Blackjack can tap into Unity for one. As for Trixie's (I refuse to call her by that title) story it is not a preemptive deal making, just a proposal to make a deal, to set up the time and place, as well as making her go more proactive in participation, while in the original Enclave came out of nowhere, wrong place, wrong time.

I have to agree with OneMoreDaySK
- Spoiler:
- In the original fallout equestria fanfic the enclave come out of nowhere for a treaty. It was a massive deus ex machina that still annoys me even today. Just *pop* "Hi I'm a throw away character doomed to only get two lines and then die. I just used both of my lines for this also *hurk* I'm dead".
As for the sequence about The Goddess it's interesting to see how alicorns interact with her. It's not a true hivemind so much as the alicorns are terminals for her
Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Excellent work as always Somber and editors. Thank you!
If there was a way for BJ to go alicorn-ish while still staying BJ...well, this would be it. It'll be interesting to see what upgrades she gets on that frame. The fan art for this should be awesome too.
I'll admit Rampage losing it when she guessed what Deus was up to got a laugh out of me. Similarly, BJ abruptly deciding to pay the Goddess a visit came pretty close to making bang my head on my desk. I'm glad that one didn't end as badly as I half expected.
Eater confirmed as Lavos, we're doomed.
We basically know the entirety of Psalm's story now. All that's left is to find out exactly what she's doing in BJ's head and resolve it.
Finally, I'm going to take the three tanks that have wings comment to mean BJ is going to have to take on some enclave ships. Probably using some wings of her own she conveniently just got. With someone riding on her back. Maybe with an alicorn army. Probably while drunk. I am ok with this.
Well anyway, back to intensely hating the Goddess again while I wait for the next installment.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
So, here we go again.
Sadly, I had to stop in the middle for Downton Abbey, but that's not a huge problem and I think I actually finished sooner than normal. I guess I'll just say that DA got me thinking about the aristocratic death rate in WWI, and in the process of trying to look it up I found this by Sir Cecil Spring-Rice, and thought that it was a sentiment I could easily see Vanity holding:
Anyway, it also occurred to me how strikingly the attitude of the ponies of Equestria mirrored that of the belligerents of the first world war at its outset, even as the war ended up having a greater resemblance to the second world war and cold war in its combat and end.
Concluding those tangents, my thanks go out to Somber and the brushing crew for their efforts on the chapter. Good work!
- 'Running Commentary/:
“Now wait a minute,” a brown earth pony began to say as he looked at his own balking security and the two beam turrets flanking his half-dozen ponies. “We’re in charge he-“
No, no you really aren't. Nice try, though.
There’s a bunch of chatter about one group withdrawing to some place called the Cathedral, another talking about ‘Operation Cauterize’ and something involving Canterlot, and a bunch of jabber that I think is zebra.
Looks like things are about to get really interesting really fast.Capt. Addersomeone's sig [I'm certain someone had "Send the lawyers, guns, and money; the shit has hit the fan"]: now 20% more relevant.
Player: Echo.
Well, that's 100% confirmed now.
“No. I mean… how could that be?” Triage asked in mock amazement, levitating my severed forelimb and cupping her own chin in imitation of the Sand Dog. “Isn’t she one of the strongest, toughest cyberponies around?”
“Dog certainly thought so!” Rover replied sarcastically. “Pony certainly act like it!”
“I admit it! I broke my legs!” I yelled at the pair, who ignored me.
“Maybe it’s not physiological,” Triage offered.
Rover feigned shock. “Pony think problem is in Pony’s brain?”
Triage nodded soberly. “I think it very well may be.”
“Okay! I’m an idiot who broke my legs!” I yelled at the pair. “Happy?”
Triage jumped and stared at me, her eyes wide. “Eureka! We have a breakthrough!”
That's just gold.
Your cyber parts are designed for recon and being all sneaky.
Yeah, that wasn't a great call, was it? Never was her strongest suit.
The Shadowbolt design is based on power armor, only much more reinforced.
Really? Damn.
“. . . All I could do was manipulate light . . . I want to… to make magic. Powerful magic. As powerful as the Princesses or Twilight Sparkle herself!” she said in voice of heated confession.
A small, triumphant smile crossed his face. “Mmmm… would you like the chance to do so? To make magic on an unimaginable scale?”
She hesitated for a moment, then nodded once. “More than anything.”
Celestia One, perhaps? But that's MAS, not MWT. Nor would it be Starfall. Could we finally be getting a peak at Horizons? Horse is a good bet to be involved with it.
As someone whose given name could easily be made to end in an ‘-ie’, I knew there was only one response.
Now I need someone to call BJ "Fishie". There's no way it doesn't end well for the audience.
It’s as if the city’s always been trying to draw its inhabitants to explore deeper and deeper into the earth.
But too deep we delved there, and woke the nameless fear.
“Harmonia from Crystal Empire,” she indicated a white mare who was… sparkling?
Outside the bounds of the Empire? Does the effect persist more with longer exposure in PH?
“Our goal is simple: unlimited electricity for the entire world.”
Exploiting two cosmic evils(?) for material gain--The Equestrian Way!
“Perhaps when your people suffer terribly from a power beyond your imaginings, you will have a greater respect for them.”
Eh, I bet Horse lived through Discord's day.
Did Equestria have a terminal outbreak of stupid?
Well, it had terminal something, seeing how Equestria died.
His eye popped wide as he chewed, then slowly swallowed. “Is full of gems!” He gobbled up the rest before I could blink.
Finally! Someone with good taste!
Nice.
“I’m with you, Blackjack. There’s no safer place to be,”
AH! HA HA HAAAAAH! That's a good one!
“Do you think I’ll ever have to do something like that again?”
I give it a week on the outside. I think the spread would be set at under a half dozen days, possibly fewer than one hundred hours.
“Given how your life goes, Blackjack, it’ll probably be three tanks. Flying ones.” I groaned, knowing that she was right.
Yeah; they know how it goes.
>P.S. SB hopes you get tetanus.
Great rejoinder.
Where would you get that much moonstone?
Well, he has an intimate connection with someone who is intimately connected with the moon . . .
“I’m not like Blackjack. I don’t trust somepony who chased us all across the Wasteland to not swap back to being a complete monster. The only way I’ll tolerate you being anywhere around us is if we have a way to turn you into scrap if you decide to swap back to Dawn’s side or just kill us for the laughs."
Is--is somepony being practical? Since when is that allowed?
"Fuck Luna,"
--That might not be the best thing to say to a zealot assassin. Maybe.
“Please… kill me too…”
Or maybe it was okay.
- 'Chapter Thoughts':
- Sadly, I don't have too much to say about the chapter as a whole; perhaps such is the nature of connective chapters. I imagine that as part of the completed novel it will work better than as a standalone release. Not that there's anything wrong with that; I would need a break after the excitement of the latter half of fifty two, and fifty three tied up some loose ends nicely, even if it didn't raise all that many questions itself. I look forward to seeing Twist's memory, and as ever the memory/recording/dream/mind-dive sections were enjoyable and interesting, particularly the discussion with Echo. And we have a definite (two definite) path(s) to follow in the immediate future. Lastly, the Glory sections were good--seeing her in her element was great, and the way she took charge was unexpected and enlivening--but I hope for more focus on her soon, both as regards her relationship with Blackjack, her reaction to her mother, and her handling of her father's condition, and ideally also more extra-familial interaction with the Enclave.
So, in its entirety, I think that the chapter served its purpose; it wasn't something that stood out as exceptional, and it wasn't a chapter I would single out as spectacular for character development, setting development, or action, but it flowed well, and had its good moments for each, as well as some pretty good humor at points. As I said, it's a solid transitional chapter, and nothing to be unhappy about.
- 'Editing Matters':
“all right,” she said, then flew up into the air.
"All right,"
“all right,” I sighed in agreement.
"All right," . . .
Diamond Flash walked casually through the throngs of ponies; every one of them looking as glamorous as herself, or more so.
Either replace the semicolon with a comma or "looking" with "looked".
Flash Industries had something going on that had dozens of ponies oohing and ahhh-ing as energy zapped and flashed.
"Aahing" appears to be a word of itself, at least according to some sources.
Beyond the two robots was an elevator shaft and a platform lift.
Should that be "were"?
They observed with interest as the wagon, levitated by Lacunae, set down in the middle of the square and myself, P-21, Scotch Tape, Charity, and two or three less injured children climbed out.
"Myself" to "I", as she had not yet referred to herself in that sentence.
It definitely has some bad vibes coming of it.
"off"
Why can you not accept that this is the way it must be? "Why must you perpetually insist on ‘another way’?
Extraneous quotes before 'Why'.
The walls were festooned with weapons, pegasi uniforms, flags, and maps.
"pegasus" uniforms.

Regarding the attitude to the war, well, it did last twenty years. That's over one and three quarters the length of WWI and WWII put together (by the start and stop dates Wikipedia gives). The portion of the war after Littlehorn was about eleven years, which is also the sum of (1919-1914)+(1945-1939).

There is a large Underground cavern/ geofront underneath it housing the EOS, which is an allegory to Lillith in Terminal Dogma. No complaints, but it hasn't been blatant so I admire Somber's patience.

You're right, of course, and it's not really a surprise how that happened; not only was this Equestria's first industrial, total war (post Littlehorn, anyway), it was its first war in a millennium, so their perspective was understandably more similar to the peoples' of prewar Europe, who had known relative peace for a century, apart from the relative few who had seen the Boer War and knew what was coming (Goldenblood = Churchill?)--I'd imagine even many Americans might have had the Spanish-American War in mind as how the conflict would go, rather than the Civil War, though most favored staying out of it at the outset. So the social changes occurred during the conflict as the potential for unparalleled destruction grew, rather than during and following a lesser conflict, engendering a desire to avoid war even at high costs.

I'm so glad so many of you liked the chapter. It's a huge endorphin rush to read the comments after a chapter. Better than any antidepressant. Any yes. The Equestrian war was like every war fought by the US one after another (Save Afghanistan) with the same development of technology in the same span. And the same death toll.

Man, it feels like forever since I wrote one of these! Back in the saddle, baby!
- Chapter 53 Comments:
Ooh. I like the sound of that. Unless BJ's not the one getting upgraded. Crap.Chapter 53: Upgrades
ASSUMING DIRECT-- nah. It's always nice to see somepony other than BJ shooting off lines like this."I am assuming control of these medical facilities!"
A sergeant in motion outranks a lieutenant that doesn't know what's going on. (An ordinance technician at a dead run outranks everybody.)All the ponies in the emergency center just gaped at her before she shouted, “Move it!”
Hahaha! So Dealer is quite literally a Huckster! (And, because I'm laughing, you're about to say something that makes me sad... right?)And there was the Dealer. Same hat. Same gaunt, sallow look with a dead-eyed stare as he flipped glowing cards between his hooves. “Turn it over…” I murmured.
In her defense, that's not a bad outcome when you go hand-to-hand with a tank.“I broke my legs,” I muttered, flushing as I lay there on a table.
Shall I take a wild guess that she was the mastermind behind Celestia One?“Magic,” she said in a near whisper. “I… I never was very good at it. All I could do was manipulate light… and when that didn’t lead to anything productive, I was… reassigned to lighting the lab. I want to… to make magic. Powerful magic. As powerful as the Princesses or Twilight Sparkle herself!” she said in voice of heated confession.
Someone's been watching The Incredibles, I think...Instantly, both robots turned their guns towards Diamond. She cried out, and he hastily added, “And one consultant.” The robots beeped and returned to their alcoves.
...
“Well, it’s my dream to someday have technology so advanced that there won’t be a difference between unicorns and anypony else. We’ll all be equal.”
And that would matter if BJ ever dodged anyway...These legs weren’t as light and quick as my others.
I thought the Sand Dogs dumped their gems into scoops on their cyberlimbs. Oh well, maybe there's something A Dog and Pony Show didn't tell us about the Diamond Dog diet.He picked one up and sniffed it, then took a bite. His eye popped wide as he chewed, then slowly swallowed. “Is full of gems!” He gobbled up the rest before I could blink.
Okay, let me think... 24 was the "Overstallion" stable, which got wiped out by the chimeras. So I guess the "material" is the alternate male-dominated history documents? The story is that the “material” for Stable 24 is for a satirical, ironic, postmodern performance piece.
Oho? I can't think of any "E"s other than Echo...Give my love to AB. -E.
*facehoof* Oh, Blackjack... always so poetic...Blackmail and sneaky tricks followed him around like a fart.
Holy shit. Let's see... back of the envelope calculations assuming 1 Megaton should be plenty to wipe out the Core. If the 100:1 kg reaction is 1 Mt, then ten thousand metric tons (10 million kg) of moonstone reacted with a billion kilos of starmetal(!) comes to an output of about ten TERATONS! That's nearly half of a Chixulub!“I meant ten thousand tonnes of moonstone. At optimal ratio.”
Woah. Garnet?! Didn't we see her going into the Redoubt when she hung up on Blueblood?!She pointed a glittery red hoof at me. “I asked you a question, soldier!”
Well, fuck! I guess it's gotta be either Goldie or Horse...“Damn Redoubt is sealed. Can you fucking believe it? Somepony got here before us… all of us… and locked it up tight!”
Oh thank god. I really didn't want to think that of Luna, however blind she may have been.“I will serve Luna and earn forgiveness, and her last order was to carry out Partypooper.”
...
“You stupid cunt! Luna didn’t give that order! I did!”
Bzuh? Where the crap did that come from? Did BJ at some point express physical attraction to Boo and I just slept through it?“I know you didn’t,” she said as she moved up to my other side and curled up against me with a sigh. “The question is... would you like to?”
As for the whole Unity part, I don't have a lot to say about it. That was a cool insight into that aspect of the story, but I'm going to have to process it for a while.
Whew... even your relaxing chapters are enthralling!
- Editing:
This sentence confused me greatly. What did Scotch remove and when? What is "it"? Did Scotch go pick up BJ's intact leg, which had previously been removed? Did she just casually remove BJ's leg before using the pipbuck? I don't follow.Scotch Tape lifted my remaining foreleg, removed it so that she could use it more easily and wouldn’t damage me further by pulling on it, opened the panel, and fiddled with the controls a bit.
Double "turned". Also, did you mean "to bear on"?Glory’s hoof turned turned to bear the few uninjured Crusaders who had accompanied us from Chapel.
Capitalization.“all right,” I sighed in agreement.
More capitalization. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and said, “all right, Diamond Flash. You can do this.”

Somber, Hinds, Bronode, and Snipe, as always you have my sincerest thanks for all of the hard work that each of you put into making this story come to life.
Every time so far that you've needed longer to complete a chapter, the result has ended up being well worth the wait, and this chapter was no exception. It was very well done, and even as a "resting chapter" it still felt like it had plenty of action.
*hugs Somber and the editing team*

- Initial Thoughts:
- First off, Blackjack's new body is very nice, and definitely seems like it will be more suited to her, once she gets used to it.
There's a ton of information that we got, but I am especially curious about the Redoubt now. Though it's nice to know those OIA jerks didn't get inside.
I'm sure it goes without saying, but I will say it anyways. I adored the little scene between Blackjack and Boo, it was very touching.
One possible correction, that I don't think anyone else has mentioned yet:
Should Stonewing not be included in this list?Doof. Psalm. Twist. Jetstream. Vanity. Applesnack. Big Macintosh. Echo.
The team was complete now.
*hugs Somber and the editing team*

Dunno re-reading that section again it feels not like a PR blitz but bold gambit to neuther one half of Red-eye's power based (The alicorns) remember the production consisted of Harbinger and three Enclave guards, no cameras no lights not even a single musical number or song of any kind. Necessity is the mother of all invention and a lot of what Equestria did in the first place was extrapolation of existing ideas to weaponry. They did have over ten years of brushfire war under Celestia after all. I've mentioned before even Celestia's methods created large groups of refguees but it was not until Luna showed up that the total war started.Somber wrote:I'm so glad so many of you liked the chapter. Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I'm reminded of this anime-related comic. When you get owned by Blackjack, she OWNS you from then on! ...and Glory owns BJ. Huh.She laughed so hard she was crying. “Oh! Oh! It’s just too much!” She wiped her eyes with a hoof as she looked up at the tank. “Is it that you suddenly don’t have a clue what to do with your life and the only thing you can think of is to follow Blackjack in the hope that she’ll help you make some sense of the incredibly fucked up circumstances you now find yourself in?”
...
“Because that’s what you do when you’ve been beaten by Blackjack, duh!” Rampage said as she sat up. “If she doesn’t kill you then she makes you re-examine your entire life and you follow her along until you find something that makes sense! And because it’s a whole lot easier than trying to kill you a second time. I mean, look at the list. You’ve got me. Sanguine at the end there. Psychoshy. Now Deus. I bet Gorgon would have, too, if it weren’t for that whole rock crushing to pulp thing.”
Augh, that makes way too much sense! >_<;OneMoreDaySK wrote:Wait... Random thought: is SweetieBot v2.0 Cogitum?

Lets back up this crazy train Mr Zebra and stop at Sanity Junction because it's clear your trying to board the express train to Crazytown.
I actually thought it filled in a plot hole from FOE. Why WOULD the Enclave suddenly show up asking the Goddess for alliance? How would they even know she was there? Why would they not only be willing, but seek her out? It doesn't make much sense, given their general feelings about ghouls, mutants, and the like. Much more sensical if the Goddess showed up to offer the olive branch, stroked their ego, and invited them to her place to work out terms.Cptadder wrote:What I disliked

I can't wait until there's new fan art of blackjack's upgrades. I was thinking she was going to be completely machine looking.

I'm kinda hoping that Mistermech'll do Blackjack, while Ryx has something on the blanket of mares. They're probably busy though.

Well, they don't want it to look too much like one, and something that did have a dedicated camera team would take longer to get together. Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I haven't completed reading the chapter yet, but I'll say one thing:
- Spoiler:
- WHICH FUCKER TOLD YOU IT WOULD INVOLVE BRING DOWN THE MOON, HUH? WHICH FUCKER FUCKING TOLD YOU THAT HORIZONS WOULD LIKELY USE THE MOON AS A WEAPON, BITCH?! THAT'S FUCKING RIGHT, THIS GUY! THIS GUY!
If this is indeed Horizons, that is. Either way, I'm the one who said it was something Goldie would consider.
here, let me...Kippershy wrote:Thanks for the confirmation Somber.
Anyway, new theory time!
Project Horizons now confirmed for mega sized version of Folly.
Project
Horizons wouldn't fire upon Zebrica... it doesn't make sense. If it was
some kind of super-weapon capable of such destructive power of an
up-scaled folly, it wouldn't have been so secret - it would've been
used.
So, what could it be is now known... but what else does it do? What else indeed.
With what I can piece together, there's two options... though one is much more likely than the other, now I think about it.
Option 1:
Project Horizons destroys the moon.
Moon
rocks are known to be highly reactive with the eater, explosively so.
If the moon were to be destroyed then it's source of gravity would stop
completely as it breaks up - causing the gravity of Equestria to pull in
large chunks, falling down as a massive asteroid belt attack.
Where
would it land? Everywhere... including into the Eater of souls, which
would then likely end up destroying Equestria / "earth" as a whole.
This
attack would fit in quite nicely with the whole prophecy of the stars,
the star maiden shall call down the power of the sun using her left hoof
(EC-1101 in the PB fires up towards the moon with a beam so bright, it
may as well be the sun.) and calls down the moon with her right. (As the
moon falls. Due to most people being right handed, we "do" things with
our right hand, regardless. It's the expression used to describe the
acts we've done - much like a 'right hand man' does our bidding.)
The
maiden of the stars calls upon the power of the sun with her left hoof
(PH) and calls down the power of the moon with her right.
Sounds a
lot like it'd fit in. The impending damage done by the falling moon
would be devastating by itself, but with the fact that the EoS is weak
to moon as it is, well, that'd only make it even more damaging.
Option 2:
It
would skip the moon part, Project Horizons simply fires down directly
at the eater, possibly hitting some moonstone deposit that's located
next to it and sets off an explosion large enough to take out the
planet.
Though this doesn't sound quite as reliable a plan nor does it really work half as well with the way Horizons is.
Option
1 works because when Luna found out about the Stables, she was
displeased but understood the risk/reward. Hell, she was meant to go
into Stable 1 with her sister anyway, so it's hardly something she would
have Goldie executed for.
Luna knew about Flux and Project
Chimera, as well. Remember back to the whole labs incident with the
memories of Goldie and Twilight speaking, Twilight threatening to go
tell? Goldie implied Luna was behind the plan to some extent, so we'll
assume she knew about that too and accepted it.
HOWEVER, what would truly horrify her? Destroying the moon.
Shooting a mega-weapon on Equestrian soil would be bad enough, yeah, but destroying the moon? Destroying what is her special talent? Her cutie mark?
Blackjack
understands that. She questions her own special talent a lot and she's
seen Glory lose hers by force. Imagine how it would be to have someone
else destroy the one thing that made you unique?
Not just special, nor rare. Unique.
Now that, that would horrify her to the point of execution.
She would want him DEAD for even CONSIDERING such an idea.
What about him though?
Well, he loved (and probably still loves) Luna.
He
loved her to the point where he set up the OIA just to help her run
Equestria smoothly, to make her feel as powerful and awe inspiring as he
saw her.
He did everything he possibly could to try and appease her.
...He loved her enough to consider blowing up the moon should she ever die and things get fucked up.
You take his Luna away? You threaten everything Equestria is and stands for? He destroys the whole fucking planet in return.
The ultimate doomsday device.
You hurt her... he doesn't even risk giving you the chance to survive the outcome.
On
top of this, seeing the moon would only break his heart even more each
and every night if she was to die and he was to live in a world where
everything was fucked up.
That is why EC-1101 checks for high ranking
officials before going off - he doesn't want to simply fuck up the
world straight off the bat if there's a chance for everypony else to
make it better, even if it means he's suffering from his loss.
He's not that childish.
Project Horizons blows up the moon.
Luna was horrified and truly scared at even the prospect.
Goldenblood was hurt and wanted to make sure that if worst came to worst, the world would go down with him.
So, okay, perhaps he wouldn't blow up the moon but instead drag it in... either way, it involves the moon coming down to Equestria, hitting the EoS and destroying the whole planet.
...called it, bitches.

- Point taken. Crashing the moon into equestria would scare the living daylights out of the zebras. It would end the war as soon as they announced it cause no one ever would continue a war against a nation that would do something like that. Sure with a nuclear war some insane ponies would suggest ponies would continue to live in stables, but destroying the planet no one would ever survive that.

Finished.
Somber, I'm sorry but I don't have a write as I read review this time, again. I just wanted to read the chapter.
What I can tell you is that I utterly enjoyed it, however.
Somber, I'm sorry but I don't have a write as I read review this time, again. I just wanted to read the chapter.
What I can tell you is that I utterly enjoyed it, however.
- Spoiler:
The start was a little hazy for me, seeing as the previous chapter was so long ago that my mind wasn't quite fresh. Still, I was quickly refreshed as I read and thus you handled the beginning well.
Glory acted just as you'd expected, playing medic. However, it is strange to not see any firm solution to Sky Striker - yes, you say he's not healing but also that he's not dead yet, but there was still a feeling of something missing from that. Not sure what though, sorry to be vague.
The upgrades sound cool, but nothing spectacular to say about them.
The Stable scene was very, very exciting for me (as seen by my post) due to the fact that I had called Project Horizons being something along these lines. I suppose that Project Horizons uses the full power of the EoS to draw the moon in - causing it to come crashing down on the source of the power and thus causing said explosion. I could be totally wrong with that, but that's my guess.
Still, it's damn good to be right about that being Goldenbloods fantasy as a doomsday weapon.
The scene with dues was cool, I like that P-21 played it smart. I wasn't sure what was going to happen, which is a good thing, though I was almost certain he would be a better... pony.
Didn't quite expect he'd do the whole Psychoshy routine, however.
...Just don't have him drive off after some other tank to shove his turret up her exhaust, okay?
(and then for that tank to turn out to be the supreme commander of all tanks left alive, or some such.)
Boo was cute as always though I find it weird that Glory would be worried about Blackjack and Boo - though I guess I shouldn't seeing as Boo technically is a pony all the same. Still, I just don't see Blackjack trying to get it on with Boo, even if she did cheat on Glory beforehand.
Just doesn't make sense to me, even if it does make sense in terms of Glory's insecurities.
The scene with the goddess was good. Nothing to really say about it however.
Lastly, could I ask if I at all inspired that part where Blackjack is mentioning the "If your name easily ends in -ie"?
What with that conversation we had and all that.
--Not saying it had to be inspired by our conversation, it could just be coincidence, but it would make me a very, very happy man if I had any part in influencing your work.

I forgot to share this last night, but I feel compelled to do so now.
I'm a music nerd, but for whatever reason I don't typically listen to music while I read. I had a lot of background noise in my apartment last night though, so I broke with tradition.
When Blackjack went to examine herself in the mirror, my library on random came up with "False King" by Two Steps from hell.

Considering I agree that this is the basis of BJ's final form, that gave me chills.

I'm only checking in because I just heard back from the printing.
Good news, we can include a letter if we want to. They just need to be able to print it. That confirmation email should also be on it's way now.
I haven't completely read the new chapter yet, but it's as awesome as always.
Just something that popped into my mind:

Oh, forgot to say. I like the formulaic format, personally. I write Broken Bonds in a pretty formulaic format so while I do understand why you fear it would get boring, it provides a nice mixture of action and mellowed out character development, even when things are tense.
I don't read Project Horizons for non stop action and I would never even consider asking you to begin writing that way.
Sure, at the start of your story your characters had nowhere to stay, nothing to anchor themselves down to - but now they do and now Blackjack is beginning to learn that she can't continue like she did before.
She's died twice now and come within a breath of it almost countless times as well as that.
She needs to slow down, rest up, prepare herself and enjoy what time she can.
If that means having a formula of two or three action packed chapters and then some rest (or something similar) then so be it. I personally like it. It adds a lot more reality to the story, which is something a lot of people are taking issue with, I've noticed. Not here I mean, other places. People say they're put off by the non stop action and how Blackjack is the most important, most capable person to ever exist because even when she can't hack a terminal for examples sakes, she'll always find another way through no matter how unlikely.

I was thinking the same, maybe her old augmentations or firing on the celestia...like it builds up from her confrontation of deus, to firing on the celestia all kinds of fucked up, then with her augmentations going berserk on enclave and fighting the tank.
in between the scenes it shows a short pan of her new augmentations.like one focusing on her spine, another on the chest shield, some on the legs...

OKay so listening to that track I envisioned the scene then broke it into a trailer
- Spoiler:
the soft gentle portion, you see her totally destroyed, one functioning limb and chaotic havoc in the Fluttershy Memorial Hospital, ponies in critical condition. then her operation, as the music escalates to around one minute, at about 56 seconds she is approaching the mirror, you still have not seen he augmentations, it only closes in on her face as she examines her self, then the music becomes epic and it pans around her body in small portions showing her new legs, the chest the the back and it cuts to parts of her doing combat or other epic things, being blackjack. her standing in front of the tank all that. as the music quiets it pans out from her reflection you see her face and fear, and glory approaching, this you see her in her full augmented glory in front of the mirror and as the soft music plays you see her cuddling boo.
Are you inside my head?
