Somber wrote:Horizons is much bigger than Folly, but it is very much the same principle. Trottenheimer made Folly understanding and trusting that the silver bullets wouldn't be used against Luna or Celestia. Goldenblood had to build Horizons with something a little more clandestine than usual. But a weapon IS only half of it. You have to look at all the other things that Goldenblood did for Horizons to make sense.
Hmm. "A little more cladestine than usual"... Perhaps that's the commandos who raided the museum minutes before the Last Day? If the purpose of that raid was to grab the meteor fragments to use in the core of Horizons, that could make sense. Though their foreknowledge of either the missile attack or activation of Partypooper would seem to speak to them being OIA operatives under Horse and/or Ruby.
I'm still having trouble thinking that Goldie knew enough about the Eater to set up a whole multi-ministry project dedicated to destroying it. Hell, even Blackjack doesn't know the whole story; it was only her soul, not her brain, that got the story from the stars. (Though the success of her souldive in Rampage suggests that those memories could be extracted from her soul and placed in conscious memory, if she knew it was there...)Kippershy wrote:Option 1:
Project Horizons destroys the moon.
Moon rocks are known to be highly reactive with the eater, explosively so. If the moon were to be destroyed then it's source of gravity would stop completely as it breaks up - causing the gravity of Equestria to pull in large chunks, falling down as a massive asteroid belt attack.
Option 2:
It would skip the moon part, Project Horizons simply fires down directly at the eater, possibly hitting some moonstone deposit that's located next to it and sets off an explosion large enough to take out the planet.
I very much doubt this. First, 'the power of the sun' has to refer to Celestia One, especially since EC-1101, worn on her left hoof, would give her access to direct it at will.Kippershy wrote:This attack would fit in quite nicely with the whole prophecy of the stars, the star maiden shall call down the power of the sun using her left hoof (EC-1101 in the PB fires up towards the moon with a beam so bright, it may as well be the sun.) and calls down the moon with her right. (As the moon falls. Due to most people being right handed, we "do" things with our right hand, regardless. It's the expression used to describe the acts we've done - much like a 'right hand man' does our bidding.)
Doesn't seem like Goldie's style. Remember, Horizons was conceived many months before the end, and with Luna's approval. I doubt she would approve a project whose concept was "fuck you, world" in the event of her own death. It seems to me that Luna was horrified by its method, not its goal.Kippershy wrote:You take his Luna away? You threaten everything Equestria is and stands for? He destroys the whole fucking planet in return.
The ultimate doomsday device.
You hurt her... he doesn't even risk giving you the chance to survive the outcome.
Not particularly. Not on the scale of megaspells. Folly is more of a suitcase nuke; it cuts out a cone of ultimate destruction at close range, but that will fade with distance. Yes, it punched a hole in the clouds at Miramare, but it doesn't take a lot of force to disrupt clouds, so that doesn't give us a very good estimate of its damage falloff. For comparison, one balefire bomb was sufficient to vitrify an area the size of Central Park, and absent magical shields, leveled Manehattan for miles in every direction.CannonFodder wrote:Bigger than Folly?! Sweet lord that's crazy powerful.
('Vitrify' is a fun word. Vitrify. Vitrify. )

Well, my theories on the matter, which I've explained here before, say that that wouldn't work, but I could be wrong.SilentCarto wrote:I'm still having trouble thinking that Goldie knew enough about the Eater to set up a whole multi-ministry project dedicated to destroying it. How would she fire C1 at will? It requires a full team of trained unicorns as part of its mechanism.SilentCarto wrote:I very much doubt this. First, 'the power of the sun' has to refer to Celestia One, especially since EC-1101, worn on her left hoof, would give her access to direct it at will.

Sure, Glory just saw her mum turning into a freak that sliced her dad up.
Sure, P-21 would've never known his parents and lived a life of repeatedly getting raped.
Sure, Rampage has gone through everything she has.
Sure, Lacunae deals with all that memory dump...
However, only Blackjack truly understands the responsibility.
Only Blackjack understands the guilt of messing up - of having your choices hurt the ones you love the most, of hurting the ponies who look up to you or seek you out for protection.
So we are ignoring the part where:
-Glory joined the volunteer corps and was therefore complicit in spreading Raider-inducing food,
-Rampage killed kids that trusted her,
-P-21 tried to commit suicide, or where he stole his daughter's medicine,
-Lacunae sabotaged/did something mysterious to Blackjack behind her back.
"Fucking things up but persevering anyway" is not Blackjack's unique talent. Granted, she gets a larger portion of it, but that's due to her always being in the position of authority. The others have been ground down most of their lives, so there weren't all that many mistakes to make.
Somber was right:the why of it is so incredibly important. There are many reasons and rationales for why Goldenblood would want to destroy equestria, save it, or convert it into something entirely new. Perhaps the thing that Blackjack has the most in common with him is that they both knew practically everybody and never leave a lukewarm impression. He had his fingers in all the pies and his neck was on every chopping block. He was at every major meeting both in and out of the spotlight, and Blackjack's has been sitting on his shoulder the whole time. She's seen all his faces. Kind of ironic that the one who knows him best has never actually met him in person.
Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Glory didn't know about the disease, therefore, she was not complicit. Nor did she necessarily distribute any food. The first mission she was on ended in the death of her team.Luminous Lead wrote:

Welp, not that long delay on my post tbh. Seems like I managed to recover quite decently after all.
Chapter review:
Whew... finally done... that only took a week longer than it should have. Curse you period!
... overall think all the "illogical and stupid flaws" in PH makes me dislike the story more and more as a whole. Especially as they keep getting milked. Gah, why can't my brain be better at ignoring stuff?
@Tyler: (curse words) Meh, feel free to steal that. Use it since it's a "legitimate" curse word so to speak.
Welp, this is (pathetically) all the catching up I'll do today. Erf... will have 15+ pages to catch up on. 12 atm.
Chapter review:
- Spoiler:
- Righto, first went back to the whole "Psh, you called THAT trying to save her?" thing. Since again, it was a poor ass attempt. And neither of them has any freaking right to whine about it. Bar from some of the children that actually were unable to help. And no, as said BJ: That can barely be called an attempt, you did more than the other lazy fucks however. And hum, would have expected the church to have been a better "house" to repair. It was already up so to speak. Again BJ, you got no right to bitch about Medly. If people actually put up an effort, I would have allowed you to whine. This is one of the things I hate with PH overall tbh. Some lame, really bad or overall just crappy part, either due to being illogical, just badly made or lacking in context, then said bad part just gets milked over and over and over... actually, a lot like cupcakes in a sense. The original was terrible in context of writing yet it got spoken off as some grand masterpiece while all it was was just some badly written "jump scares". That is mostly how I see it tbh. Some part is done "inferior" to the rest, yet gets treated and brought up again and again and again, glorified like it was some awesome key part of the story, while some really awesome and hilarious key parts that ARE fantastic gets mentioned once or twice, then is never spoken of again. That is a thing I just don't get. Not unlike cherry coke (think that is translated right) tbh... not a single person I know likes it, and many even complains over why the fuck it still gets made and promoted while none likes it. As said, despite searching in reviews quickly, I have yet to see a single of these "milked", bad topics get brought up. Is the only reason you bring them up so we'll hate it and get annoyed at it? I mean, after much fanwanking, myself, and a few others turned to hate Styg, but from going what Somber said, we weren't supposed to hate his guts or the stupid shit BJ and C:O did around him, to which I as said have to question why it is even being used. Sure, yes, some liked him. But as said, yet have to see a single person that found the terrible attempt at a running gag that wasn't even good to be amusing. I guess you could be "constantly" (mentioned a lot chapter wise, like EC-101, bar from that is actually relevant) nagging about the crap to finally get a comment on it. I personally take it as a hint though if not a single person says anything about stuff I do, that said stuff wasn't very good to begin with or worth talking about... true though, I guess I could see that one or more of your proofreaders somehow found it hilarious and egged you on, but doesn't seem that plausible tbh. Erf, trailed off again.
Is "Glory'd" a correct term? And oh, finally something might be revealed about the door! (liked the "talk" prior though, had a damped tone to it.) ... okay, apparently not. But close enough, not bad at least. And have to say P-21's "efforts" to... get horny? Was awfully odd if you ask me. Was not really a fan of that whole part, just seemed a bit off and padded. Though huh... P-21 used a lot more Med-x than I'd imagine. And what...? Implants were "supposed" to hurt like buck? Can't say I see the reason or logic for that. And not sure I got the PTM comment, did he refer to that it was their "biggest problem" before or what? Again, have to say the whole "foal of Twi" is a bit dumb, (as is the relation a bit, and the "power is inherited part, too "destiny!/fate" bland or however to put it) but meh. Have to say though, how can they even be sure or think that said foal would have survived? Or had children of it's own? And not sure how tightly it's connected, but would Sweetie Belle count as relative to Rarity? Since if going with stable 2, those 2 would be the technically only common relatives. Not sure how many foals either of them go though. But likely 1-2. Then add 1-2 every 30-40'th year or so, and on 200 years, that would have given a total of anywhere between ~5 to 50 or so. Don't really see the big chance of any of them coming across any of those, especially as they'd have to escape stable 2. And yay, raider execution with raiders saying stuff for plot convenience xP ... "egg harvest for magic testing"... have to say that doesn't really sound very "logical" at all so to speak. Blood or DNA test I can get, but her eggs? Overall, don't see too much logic in why Twilight would make her doors connected to her (that I get) and close relatives (this I do not get. Why would she have the latter?) And right, so it was revealed after all.
Though, as said: feels like a very lame detail to exclude. After all, it would mean Twilight had doors that could be locked for her inconvenience only. Hum... well, door jam seems to have been more of the case. So yay. Getting an in depth character of the mysterious mare heh. And welp, not too surprised by that. And meh, more Golden showing off. Hum, the "cyberdemon", or possibly a "good" version of it was not expected however. Not too sure why she mentioned it killed Sanguine like it was a bad thing. And why are always everyone so stupid? xP And wait, snipers, in a room? In a manor? Seems legit xP The whole conversation there felt... odd somehow. Like, it felt very "off". Was however not surprised at all at the following actions. Them being surprised was kinda neat though imo. And ah... always the "I haz no more choiz!11" card... it really doesn't make much sense in the long or short run. And, speaking of the terrible running gag. Still not given up on the fucker? :P And was I the only one that felt a bit "meh" when earth ponies weren't mentioned? And yes, I can agree with BJ on the choice part. She always runs into fucktards heh. And hey, look who got a new ripper xP ... on a side note, unless I recall wrong, Rampage has only used her rippers on mares, right? I got plenty memories of her using it on mares, but none on stallions... like BJ has just hit genitals of stallions. Have to say I found the "short words" part interesting somehow.
And again, have to say the "heritage" is just too "meh" to me. Don't see BJ's logic in the fire part though... okay sure, her enemies are generally retarded and reckless but... And that is one heck of a durable scales she got. Was a bit amused at the crusaders using the Cello. Expect quite a few of the, or at least one "major" to die however, just so BJ can mop and whine and so that Glory gets another boner from it. A bit confused where Scotch got knowledge of repairing cyberpony parts but meh, guess Somber go with the universal "if you know how to repair a toaster, you can repair a tank." or that "she NEEDS to do it" thus can. Still a bit perplexed why hundreds of Harbingers were there though. And meh, more of this "destiny crap". I was never really one for that "unless your parents were heroic heroes or important nobles and fucked each other, you'll never be anyone" more or less. The "not after priest" part made me smile a bit. And hum... same goes with the de-horning, think it's also only been mares. Though have to say I'm rather surprised Sekashi managed to stay "fit" despite her time in the mine. And those horns seem rather easy to break in context in Horizon... not to mention bones overall. And holy Gummy, those sandbags have managed to stay intact for centuries? Throughout rain and whatnot? And ha! called it. Though, while it wasn't a surprise that Caprice would rat on BJ, it did come as a bit of a surprise. But not at all surprised the least that Caprice died, took a chapter long than I expected though. As for them being able to harvest the brain... that does seem rather derp. Going with how it does after what? 5-15 minutes? (yeah, yeah, magic, I know) Caprice kinda just seemed to be there for no other purpose than to be a coward though, very little going on with her. BJ overall seemed quite too thick though, just stood there and derped. Overall, that scene made little sense other than "Derp, derp, gonna stand in the open and taunt the tank." - "I have to die now for story reasons, so I'm killing myself now, okay BJ?" - "Okay, I'll just sit here and listen. Even though I can have Lacunae teleport here I'll just wait till you die, and instead use my telepathy with her later for another occasion."
Quick side note: Wouldn't those bombs also shortcut their power armour? And hm, while I did anticipate that to happen to a degree, I wasn't too sure with whom. Though, it got more and more obvious with the whole speech. Though, didn't happen entirely like I predicted, which is nice. And didn't BJ barely have any energy in her horn to even lift a spoon just a minutes ago? And hey, speaking of said occasion. Have to say backflipping is a bit much, but eh xP And yeah, as said: You are way too attached to "important people" in PH, I mean heck, I even use less vulva terms than you pull out on of these, or any of your other (imo) questionable things. And I talk about vulva a lot. A LOT. Anyhow; a bit contemplative as to why she didn't just "cut off" the turrets. Kinda boring that the best she could come up with was "shoot in face", then again, BJ is very bland in that sense. And see? Now her horn isn't working anymore! And I forgot: What did Brass do again? And in Vanity's defence, while he was bloated (Vanity), none can deny that Doof was dumb as fuck, like, he passes past Styg, and that says a lot. That moron at least knew when to quit... in certain scenarios. And while both have been on "similar parts", neither of them really can relate to each other. And is BJ forgetting the whole "insta-gib if you don't follow orders"? Ah well. Overall, a decent chapter. And can't recall: Did I mention the "meh" over P-21? Overall, if BJ goes "baw" over either the filly they neglected to death, or the suicide of Caprice I can say I won't really give a single fuck, they have no right to blubber about it. Heck, makes me wonder though: What did she even get in return? Since Caprice didn't seem to have gotten shit. All she really got to do was get her cunt sucked by BJ... or vice versa, (she could get that for free by one of her hookers, then she could even pick gender on them. Heck, even BJ's rapists got a fuckload better deal... overall, they're pretty much one of the ones that got the best deal so far.) think BJ was somewhat dom before her personality overhaul.
Whew... finally done... that only took a week longer than it should have. Curse you period!

Dawn isn't a changeling. She's almost entirely robot at this point, even more augmented than Blackjack. The green eyes was just me messing with you. Sorry.
As for Sky Striker... just do what you need to. As long as you just do your best, I'm sure you could make either outcome work.
And for Dawn, nothing to be sorry about at all.

Speaking of Sky Strider (Catching up on the forums) the solution is obvious either put it up to an internet vote and/or have an animal pick. If it's one thing that the Olympics coverage taught me, it's that Cephalops make excellent predictors of sporting events.
So get a fanfic character death picking hedgehog and you'll be set Somber. Just don't make a mistake and go with a plot picking chinchilla, those are lying rodents who don't know good story structure if it bit them and it does.
I still remember when Robert Jordan was deciding who to pair Rand up with in the Wheel of Time and he used a plot picking chinchilla to help him make his choice and the little bastard picked all of the above. Bottom line don't trust Chinchillas.

Please can someone pointing out where in PH raised the issue of zony's futility? And who ever thought to apply Haldane's rule to talking ponies and zebras, who live in the world of magic?

I think he/she is commenting on the fact that in the real world, a zebra/pony hybrid would find it harder to reproduce (due to genetics, or other factors), and is asking where this is brought up in the story.
WikipediaHaldanesrule wrote:Hybrid sterility and inviability increase reproductive isolation,

I don't know whether hybrid inferiority is brought up at all, but incompatible genetics is the reason why Pegasi are highly resistant to Cannibalistic Raider Disease (Pegasi are farthest from the "baseline" that Zebras share with Ponies).
Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Eh, sorry for taking so long on this first impressions review.
All in all, a great chapter. Highlights of the impressions was me raging at Dawn, and wondering the fate of her husband. Also wondering the degree of control she has on her own body now, and the fact that Rover's gonna charge you now. Maybe that's excuse to go off to free the HellHounds.
- Chapter 52 Review:
And all is well in Chapel. Until Steel Rain rolls in. I'm still calling it.Still, all of them seemed willing to do the right thing. To do better.
Still calling it. Twi is your (great x ?) mum.The only one I could make out well at all was Twilight Sparkle; judgemental purple eyes stared down at me. They were Mom’s eyes.
Well at least you're talking about it. Talking is good.I was sitting alone in a ruined church on a rainy night all alone, and he asked if I was okay? I’d be scared of anypony who hung out in a place like this and found the term ‘okay’ applicable. “Yeah. Sure. As okay as I’ll ever be, I guess.” I looked at the blown-out window and went on, “I’m not feeling like I need to run or I’ll die. I only did one moderately stupid thing today. I’m depressed about Medley… and Boing… and everypony else I’ve failed, but I’m trying to deal with it. I’m happy for Glory and Scotch, at least. So... yeah.” I gave him a little smile. “Okay.”
Inb4 Dawn is Harbinger leader and wants to talk to Blackjack. The only ones who might know are the Harbingers, and we’re not exactly on speaking terms at the moment.
So apparently she still isn't smart enough to figure it out on her own according to P-21. XDHe was silent for a moment before he sighed and frowned with an annoyed little scowl. “So Glory told you. Figures.”
Why? Because she can ninja better than Littlepip?Surprise showed for a moment before he recomposed himself.
Glory? Probably. Blackjack is crazy, in a good way. With the exception of Scotch Tape and
Huh, so Xenith knows about his drug problem. Wanted to say something about her knowing drugs and all and understands his need.He looked up and met the equally stoic gaze of the zebra, Xenith. I hadn’t known her very well; she’d been nothing like Xanthe, despite how similar their names were. Xanthe had been weird. Xenith had been scary. The zebra didn’t say a word; her light green eyes may have simply been cameras recording his private moment for all the judgment they held. P-21 said nothing either. Then there was some silent acknowledgement in Xenith’s tiny nod before the zebra turned away and he tossed the syringes in the trash. With a deftness that shocked me, he wound his mane around the remaining needle and hid it in his wiry blue hair.
Wait. Don't you like that sort of stuff?Sweet Celestia, I deserved whippings for a year for doing this to her.
I don't think Dealer would be okay with that either. Nor would whatever cybermonster / harbingers / other enemies going after EC-1101 would agree. Wait, they don't need Blackjack, just the pipbuck. Yeah, bad scenario end.Life Bloom closed his eyes and sighed. “In their eyes, if Blackjack is unstable, she can always have an heir or two to fit the Society’s agenda.”
“Over my dead body,” P-21 said flatly.
“I’d never be a party to such a thing either,” Homage said, glaring at Life Bloom.
“There are elements in the Society who would trade DJ PON-3 for the Twilight Sparkle bloodline, Homage. In a heartbeat,” Life Bloom replied grimly. I had to say, all the warm and fuzzy sentiments I may have had for the Twilight Society were going bye-bye. He looked at P-21 and Glory. “Not all, or even most, but enough. The moderates simply want to know, then make up their minds in their own time.”
Yeah, we all kinda got that one on the head. Her personal study was enchanted. If looks were magic bullet spells… Life Bloom continued, “Most want to see if she can open the doors.”
See above comment.Homage frowned at him. “You’re thinking of locking the doors so they won’t open for anypony.”
Now Trixie does... Wat.“And the Goddess won’t know any different either,” Glory said as she closed her eyes.
Heh. So pro he doesn't need one. Now if he ever gets his hands on one...P-21 snuck up in the early morning, avoiding cameras and personnel alike as if he were a giant blue StealthBuck.
Now what. She knows, and the only positive is explosion day coming up soon.If the Goddess had known I was related to Twilight, she might have tried to hurt me simply to torment the Twilight Sparkle within her.
He did something else with the pipbuck. No way it's just for music. Call for help maybe?“Good. You should leave it on.” I just frowned at him in bafflement, then gave a little nod.
Incoming Harbinger fight. I'm calling it. But what does Dawn have? Some kind of super-pet?“Actually. I’d love to talk with you a moment alone, if you don’t mind,” Dawn said. I saw P-21’s features immediately grow grim.
Cryptic stuff...“Sure. I’ll go back to the house,” he said with a smile. “You should talk with her. She’s an interesting mare. Some questions and answers might help you out. Expand your horizons.” Wait... what?
Cult leader vibes given off.“Mhmmmm! This entire valley was to be a glorious city. From one side to the other. A place of beauty and majesty fit to make Manehattan look like a backwater,” Dawn said as she walked along. She faced me and added, as if sensing my skepticism, “Not all wastelanders are ignorant savages. I’ve spent years collecting any lore that might help others understand what Equestria was… and could be again.”
*Insert Ackbar*ne. It was now I really wished I had my barding and a gun of some kind. Even one of Glory’s cakes. There was no way to tell with her eyes closed to slits, but somehow I could feel her looking at EC-1101.
Depends on the price. There is no war in Ba Sing Se.“I’d like to live anywhere we can have peace. Don’t you want peace?” she asked in an almost pleading voice.
And by abandoning your friends, you've gone to corrupted virtue. By abandoning your family, you've effed up twice. You probably effed up a third time sometime afterwards.“You’ve heard of virtues, yes? Mine is salvation. I’ve devoted my entire life to bettering the world. To do better, as Fluttershy said.” She tilted her head towards me. “I imagine your virtue must be quite similar to do all that you do.”
I'm still calling it: Forgiveness, plain and simple. She's been able to forgive practically everyone who had attacked her and repented.I hadn’t thought of my virtues in a long time. Salvation? No. I didn’t think so. And even as much as I threw myself into the meat grinder, I doubted that it was sacrifice. Tenacity… endurance… maybe. But I didn’t hold any illusions that I could save the Wasteland on my own. I doubted anypony could. All I could do was give ponies a chance.
No duh. One pegasus ain't gonna be enough to change all those years of isolation. Striker's been trying slowly, but apparently you want immediate results. And soon... soon there were ponies willing to kill me to keep them from having to acknowledge the suffering below.” She shook her head again. In the flickers of approaching lightning I could make out the outlines of the manor through the pouring rain.
Bull. Friggin. Horseapples. <rage>I hate it when characters ditch their family to 'protect' them. All that animosity towards your family ain't gonna dissappear just because you're gone.“I say I left to protect my family... and part of that is true... but...”
In fact, it probably makes it worse, since one of the children's pillar of support and role model just decides to leave. YOUR KIDS NEED YOU JUST AS MUCH! </rage>
Ugh. It just really bothers me when there are kids involved. If it was just Sky Striker I'd be a bit more understanding of being frustrated with the Enclave. But... yeah.
Here it comes.Glory’s mom stopped in the rainy road and looked at me quizzically. “Then why is it you deny EC-1101 to ponies who would use it to spare countless others pain and suffering?”
Go to SATS -> Magic Bullet x limit -> Target head. Now. Ugh, cancel that. You still need to try and learn what Horizons is about, and there doesn't seem to be any ambush yet. So just stay on your toes.“More accurately, I am the Harbingers,” Dawn replied matter-of-factly. ”I am their prophet for a better tomorrow.”
What? EoS on a timetable or something? But time is running out.
If it does anything similar to Folly, I'd think it would either shoot the EoS at the moon or the inverse. Either way. The moon's gonna get wrecked. That's probably what made Luna mad.“Horizons itself was a superweapon developed two hundred years ago by Goldenblood to prevent a coup by the Ministry Mares. I don’t know where it is or how it works, but being that it was designed by Trottenheimer, who adapted megaspells to weaponized purposes, we can assume the destruction would be substantial. You saw what his silver bullets could do,” Dawn said as she walked beside me.
Still trusting brain-in-a-jar more than you.“She lied.” Dawn shrugged. “Or she simply forgot. I suppose living for two hundred years could make a pony somewhat forgetful,” she said simply. “I’d suspect the former, though. She was always casual with the truth.”
Griffin: some other FO:E story?I came across a few prospects. A griffin warlord trying to recoup his people’s fallen glory. A dragon with the intelligence and skill to manipulate ponies, living in an old prison and trying to establish control around his lair. The most promising by far was a cyberpony willing to do or give whatever he could to re-establish civilization. Each of them, however, fell short. The first was too consumed by hatred, the second obsessed with greed, and the last callous to the suffering he caused.
Dragon: Misinterpretation of Spike?
Cyberpony: Redeye.
You mean the tunnels that melted Glory's wing off? Yeah. That's not a good place. When I returned to Hoofington, I was prepared to die. I went into the tunnels, ready to rot away and be done with life,” she said solemnly. “And it was there that she found me.”
Crazy AI/Upload. Only reason to help Blackjack was that that area would've probably destroyed the pipbuck. Wait. Is she the "GIVE IT TO ME" that's been chasing Blackjack?“Yes. A goddess of technology and knowledge. Cognitum. She is trapped and integrated with the Core, but she showed me such wonders. The Core is there… a city that can contain and care for the entire population of the Wasteland ten times over. It is a place where all sapient life… not just ponies but zebras, griffins, hellhounds, and even dragons can live in peace. Even with the extensive damage that time and the war inflicted, there is more than enough for all.” She smiled gently. “You’ve already felt her blessing. She was the one who overrode the interference to fire the defense beam at the ghoul in Hightower.”
Yeah, that's a lie. But strange, that crazy AI doesn't seem capable of advanced deception. Dawn is too deluded perhaps?Right now, Cognitum struggles to assert herself over the most basic of systems. Without the authority granted by EC-1101, she is only able to utilize one ten thousandth of her normal capabilities. She struggles through interference and dealing with the damaged systems. Once EC-1101 is in her hooves and properly activated, she will be able to cancel Horizons and establish a new Equestria from here. All will be welcome. All will be equal in her true unity. And then… then we will have peace.”
Dawn shot first. That out of the way, apparently her idea of salvation involves being overtly violent. Didn't even try to have any optimism for wastelanders. Apparenlty they are the filth that need to be saved. Does that make the harbingers some crazier kind of Fundies?“No,” I interrupted. “I’m not giving EC-1101 to you. Nor her,” I said levelly, leaving the mare as stunned as if I’d kicked her upside the head. “You don’t get it. She exposed my home to a disease that turned almost everypony I knew into cannibals. And you and your Harbingers made the exact same mistake Sanguine did. You shot first. You should have tried this conversation before sending squads of killers after me.”
*facepalm* She ain't one for vengence of that sort Dawn. You should've done more lurking to understand her. Now I bet you're gonna piss her off.Dawn suddenly straightened. “Would it help if you could get revenge on him for what he did to you and your friends?”
Not gonna happen Mrs. Delusional. You said so yourself. Steel Rain advised me to take it by force, and in the process wronged you. If you like, you can take his place.” She reached out and tapped my chest. “You can make certain that the Harbingers remain an order of good virtue.” Remain?
Are you kidding me?“I knew that you’d never give it up,” the stallion said as he emerged from the manor. On instinct, my horn’s magic reached for weapons that were probably in some locker at the Rainbow Dash Skyport. I was surprised to see two things: one, he wore only a PipBuck.
ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME? That was unexpected. Two, he looked positively cute! The stallion with guns as massive as Deus’s seemed disturbingly vulnerable without his fancy armor. His pink mane was plastered to his purple coat, and his kindly face wore an oddly embarrassed expression.
Now that makes sense. But yeah, I hope he gets that taken care of before being shredded on the inside. My comment added a bit of amusement to the embarrassment on his face. “Ah yes. That had been my plan, I admit,” he replied with a small grimace as he pressed a hoof to his chest. “Unfortunately, a certain measure has been taken to ensure that I cannot betray Cognitum or her prophet.” He met my gaze and gave an almost sheepish smile. “It seems my ambitious nature was better known than I anticipated. There’s a kill implant nestled right in my chest. One signal from either, and it will immediately puree my insides.”
And here is the optimism / pessimism dichotomy out in the open. Harbingers probably expect the worst from wastelanders, while Blackjack for the most part hopes for the best.“I believed him. My mistake for thinking you were a monster after I heard what you did to your stable.”
Steel Rain chuckled. “Oh, she is. The worst kind,” he said with a casual smile that didn’t hide the fear in his eyes. “A monster who thinks she can stop being one.”
Yup. Berserk Button pressed. Now for Blackjack to shut her down verbally.I looked from her to him and back again. I didn’t know what to say to this. “If you like, I can kill him now. Or maim him. Or simply exile him with a command that the kill implant goes off if he uses any technology more advanced than a can opener,” Dawn said evenly, her smile returning and the purple stallion’s gentle features growing resigned as he sighed. “Consider it a repayment for following bad advice.”
“What?” I gasped as I backed away from both of them. “Whatever happened to believing in not killing?”
“If his life is the price for saving all of the Wasteland, then it’s one that I will accept. What’s one life compared to the multitudes that will be saved?” Dawn asked with that blissful smile.
It's kind of strange, seeing him resigned to his fate like that so calmly.“Everything,” Steel Rain said with another sigh before he smiled at me apologetically. “Well, I won’t pretend like I don’t have it coming. Go on then. At least it’ll be relatively quick.”
Fsck. The tank. At Chapel.I glared at the pair, then watched as a black-and-white-striped mountain of metal came into view. The tank. Immediately, its engine snarled and spotlights glared to life, and it swivelled the lamps towards me. I tensed, ready to run, but then Dawn said in a quiet but horribly sure voice, “No. The other target.” For almost a minute the tank sat there, revving its engine. Then it slowly swung its main turret away. My blood froze as what I realized what the ‘other target’ was.
The hay kind of negotiation was that? Give it to me and it will "help" others. Give it to me and I'll let you kill someone. Worst. Negotiation. Ever.“What other choice have you given me?” Dawn replied quietly, her mane obstructing her face. “Trying to take it by force has failed. Trying to negotiate has failed as well.”
Did you plan this? Suddenly evil Sombra eyes. And then, for an instant, she looked at me over her shoulder, her eyes open and blazing with a bright, violent green luminescence, then looked down at the village and spoke again, her voice rising with every word.
I wonder if her logic can be stretched just as crazy. "I need to destroy most of whats left of Equestria to save it." or something of that sort.“I am what I needed to become, just as you are,” she said coldly as she closed her eyes once more and turned her back to me, looking up at the tank. “I do not want to kill helpless foals, no more than you want them to die. But I will kill them if you force me to it. The future of Equestria is infinitely more precious than any one village.”
Lose-Lose right now. Keep trying that Unity hotline.I knew I couldn’t take the risk of calling her bluff. I’d lost EC-1101 before and recovered it. My eyes met the calculating gaze of Steel Rain, and his apologetic smile grew a little. He knew that the second the village was out of harm’s way, I’d be after them again. They’d either try and kill me or shell the village to keep me busy.
Not the same thing idiot. Foals in the medical clinic were insane, and she had no capability to sustain them without the chance that they might reassert control and start killing some more. And for the stable? THEY ALL WERE INFECTED. What was that about callousness? I seem to see that that third pony applying to you, minus the cyberpony.“I’m not going to kill more innocents just to hang onto a damned program. So congratulations. Your willingness to murder helpless children won.” My words made the mare jerk as if I’d kicked her. “I hope you’d be proud. I hope your children would be proud.”
“I... I have no choice,” Dawn muttered.
“Wrong. You always have a choice,” I replied.
“You have no right to lecture me after what you’ve done!” Dawn hissed at me. “You’ve killed foals! You gassed your own stable!”
Reminds me of Doctor Horrible. Police and Captain Hammer watch his blog.“Oh, and please turn off your broadcaster, Blackjack.”
“What?” I frowned, glancing at it. “I never turned it on.”
“Really? Because I’ve been listening to your conversation since you left Chapel.” He lifted his head and then turned it to show some kind of earphone thing. “I’ve been a big fan of Radio Blackjack.” Then he suddenly smirked. “Champion in bed? Really? That freak?”
At least do the best you can at being less competent. Is that too much to ask?I glanced at Steel Rain for some sign that my act of mercy might gain some assistance, but the one time our eyes met he simply gave a sorry smile and a shrug. I supposed that if the purple stallion had an implant that could kill him instantly, he really couldn’t help me that much.
Redeye much? Seriously she's deluding herself just as much as Redeye.“I have no illusions, Blackjack. I don’t deserve the Core, and I won’t accept a place in it. I’ve been forced to do horrible things, and I know that there’s no forgiveness for some crimes.” She cocked her head.
Eh, eventually.“Would you ever be able to truly forgive yourself for what you did to your home?”
“No,” I replied. I could choose not to punish myself, but forgiveness? Never.
Say it with me. De-lu-sion-al i-di-ot.She kept her face downturned. “You understand why we’re going to kill you. We have no choice...”
I hope Glory offs you. Painfully.“What a lovely inspirational speech,” Dawn said softly, “but you are quite mistaken. There’s been nothing easy about this at all.” One second. Two. Ten. “Fire,” Dawn said quietly as I closed my eyes.
A tad theatrical there, aren't you Lacunae? Last minute rescue. Then I frowned as I became aware that I hadn’t been torn into bloody cyberpony pieces. I opened my eyes and glanced above me at the luminous shell that encompassed me and the sight of Lacunae hovering above, her brows furrowed in focus as her shield flashed and flared from the bullets striking it. Her purple eyes looked down and met mine, and she smiled.
Go Glory!I saw Dawn launch herself skyward only to be knocked from the air by a cyan bolt streaking by. The PipBuck tumbled from her hooves as Glory arced around and slammed her azure forehooves into Dawn’s face as the mare began to recover.
I retract me previous statement. She's augmented somehow, either by EoS magic or some kind of implant.I would have expected the kick to have taken Dawn out of the sky entirely, but to my astonishment she kept flying with merely a grunt.
Yer mum is now a terrorist for reals.I saw the tears in her eyes that promised she’d need a whole lot of TLC if we made it through this.
Chanelling Psalm there?“Forgive me Luna, for I have taken the life of another,” I murmured as I finished off the magazine in the carbine and three Harbingers closed in around me.
Nope. Radboom hadn't happened yet. Your still on your own in terms of magic.I was Twilight Sparkle’s descendant. I could do it! My horn glowed as bullets chewed through my barding and into my body. Do it, I told my horn!
Chapel now fights back? I'm expecting some casualties by the end of this. Now who's expendable?I was Twilight Sparkle’s descendant. I could do it! My horn glowed as bullets chewed through my barding and into my body. Do it, I told my horn!
That's hilarious. Smartly using invincible cover.I watched in shock as the red and blue colts Adagio and Allegro raced up and dropped Octavia sideways before them and the three colts from the watchtower tossed their light machine gun across the instrument’s body.
No! She lost her chance at being a main character. Ok now she's dead.I could at least respect that, but I reached up with my fingers and relieved her of the 12.7mm SMG before she accidentally shot somepony on our side... like me.
Because it has cannons and can shoot you obviously? Wait. The reason it wasn't was because it could damage EC-1101. Wat.Why was it just sitting there?
Here's the casualty I was waiting for. Nice knowing ya.“It’s my fault,” Caprice said. “I… I told Dawn you were here. I told her… told her about Glory…” The mare whimpered as she coughed and threw up a bloody mess down her front. “Blackjack… I’m so sorry…” she croaked as tears ran down her cheeks.
Wat. Oh. I see. Parts of Deus. Oh fsck Deus is the tank. But she shook her head. “Listen… please… he’s with them…” she said weakly, struggling for breath. “I gave him to Dawn. He’s the tank…”
Wait they don't have pants. Ew.I think I may have wet myself somewhere while they were blasting at me.
Maybe if the Enclave would stop killing those who operate in wasteland in the name of quarantine, you'd have more.“We’ve got the most experience operating in the Hoof,” Twister replied.
EoS Sword. Yush!“Here,” Lightning Dancer said as she dug into her saddlebags and dumped my weapons out onto the rooftop beside me. I saw the sword, and my life suddenly became a lot better. It might not have been a ripper, but it would do for a can opener.
...Then I looked where the stallion was pointing and saw the eyepatched Sky Striker standing two feet from Dawn. I froze. “Oh no…”
See angry rant prior. I'm too tired to repeat.“And taken our children to the Wasteland? No mother could do that,” she replied quietly. “Or would you have come with me and left our children alone? Forced Dusk to become their mother when she’d just gotten her cutie mark? No… I couldn’t stay, and none of you could come with me. I had a mission to complete down here.”
Melting!?!She swayed before melting
OSHI-The baleful green glow of her eyes flared once as they moved to stare at my hoof. The dire luminescence rippled out from her glowing pupils, and green lines of light traced themselves across her silver irises as it passed. The light shimmered along those fine faint scars crossing her body. Then the gray hide split along those lines and sloughed wetly apart, revealing a blacker hexagon-patterned hide hidden beneath and broken by green tracers of light. From under her gray feathers, dark chisel-like blades emerged, each sporting green circuits of light. Her hooves split as mechanical fingers erupted from the disintegrating flesh of her fetlocks, each digit tipped in a long black talon surrounded by a sickly jade aura. She plunged the curved blades into his back, slicing through his black power armor as if it was butter.
I was just joking about being a cyberpony Somber! Now she's mostly a robot.Glowing green chips in her ebony dermis peeked through her ravaged face, but the hexagonal hide was barely damaged and regenerating before my eyes. She hovered there a moment, looking down at Sky Striker’s broken body with a cold stare. “Enough! No more weakness!”
Now I'm confused. If she had been ASSUMED DIRECT CONTROL'd why not just keep going after Blackjack? But then why attack Sky Striker, especially if he didn't do anything? For an instant those glowing green eyes looked at those mechanical fingers and claws, at her husband’s blood being washed away, and then looked down at her husband and daughter with a fleeting expression of horror. Then with a scream I’d heard in a buried city beneath the ground, she launched herself into the lightning-filled sky.
Eh, if he survives, he's going to be a cripple. If he doesn't then we have a whole other set of orphans to deal with.“Hush. You’re going to live for Glory. You understand? Glory isn’t going to lose two parents today,” I said, then looked at the two mares. “Can you get him to Star House? The potions might be more effective there.”
Wait. I've seen this somewhere. GITS 2.0 Tank scene. What a beautiful yet horrifying scene. The pacing. The ambience. The why try to pull open the hatch reason being given here.I gritted my teeth as I looked down at the hatch. Rain from the hole blasted in the roof pattered down around me. Even now, the machine gun turrets were glowing pink. Soon they’d be operational once more, and then the hoof-wide gash I’d managed to cut in the hatch would follow. There was only one thing to do... I hooked my fingers into the hole, squatted, and started to pull.
I felt the tension build more and more. Felt the line between flesh and metal grow more acute. The motors in my legs began to whine as I put more force into them than they’d been designed to bear. Then they started to smoke as my own repair talismans struggled to keep them pulling. Pull, damn it! My flesh began to distort where pony ended and metal began. Warnings filled my vision as the metal hatch began to bow outwards. Just a little more. Bullet holes torn through my metal limbs twisted as smoke reached my nostrils. Just a little more...
Everything gave all at once, the motors and power talismans popping one after another in one final spasmodic tear. The stress on my metal limbs caused my already battered back leg to explode apart completely, and my right foreleg ripped off entirely, connection cup and all, leaving a bloody mass of wire, metal, and meat. My left foreleg shattered at the joint midway, flopping uselessly by my side as I finally pushed myself further than even my cyberpony body could go.
Confirmed.“Kzzzt....K....Kuntzzz.”
Not ‘he’s in the tank.’
‘He is the tank.’
“Deus,” I whispered back.
Now to see if her speech check works. So I rocked up into a sitting position, looked up at the tiny socket cameras beneath the lamps, and shouted as loudly as I could, “I’m sorry!”
Wonder if he's going to come back. Maybe Dr. Who style protector of Chapel?Deus ground his gears and turned, ramming the far wall of crumbled stone and ploughing right through it. Slowly, I looked over at my friends as they rushed to me. “Oh Sweet Celestia,” Scotch Tape said as she lifted my shattered cybernetic leg. “Blackjack… why do you keep breaking yourself?”
Maybe it was the blood loss, but I laughed, which only made them look more worried as I said softly, “Because I know there are people who can put me back together ...make me a pony again.” I looked at Rampage. “Did we win?”
“Yeah,” Rampage said. “The Harbingers have run off. Steel Rain got away, though.”
P-21 looked the way that Deus had gone and then back to me. “How’d you beat him?”
“The same way you beat me,” I murmured softly as I leaned my broken body against his. “I gave him a chance to be a better pony.”
All in all, a great chapter. Highlights of the impressions was me raging at Dawn, and wondering the fate of her husband. Also wondering the degree of control she has on her own body now, and the fact that Rover's gonna charge you now. Maybe that's excuse to go off to free the HellHounds.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
The dragon Dawn described was Mister Topaz, not Spike.
If a weapon launched from Equestria hit the moon and broke it, the debris would either come back together under its own gravity or if the weapon was energetic enough spiral out of Equestria's world's orbit. No falling down to the world as meteors unless the weapon spun around in space to hit the dark side of the moon. Either way with the hitting the light side options, the energy released would fry whatever side of the world was facing the moon at the time, unless it was a directed energy weapon rather than a missile.
How damaging would destroying the Eater all at once using an equivalent amount of moonstone be? If we knew the Eater's mass, we could go ahead and do a matter-energy conversion equation.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Well, we know they got together to do it for Pip -- the endgame on PH seems to stretch beyond Sunshine and Rainbows, so it wouldn't necessarily be out of the question for the Society to activate C-1 again for the benefit of Twilight's descendant and let her use EC-1101 (possibly with Dealer's help) to run targeting.O. Hinds wrote:How would she fire C1 at will? It requires a full team of trained unicorns as part of its mechanism.
Huh... or maybe... return it to the innocence of his childhood? After all, he was the first one to warn Twilight about what Equestria would be like if they won. He specifically called out Luna building a clone army.Luminous Lead wrote:Somber was right:the why of it is so incredibly important. There are many reasons and rationales for why Goldenblood would want to destroy equestria, save it, or convert it into something entirely new.
This was mere hours before his arrest for treason. Perhaps he subsequently did -- or had already done -- something to ensure Equestria would lose, or that the wartime technology wouldn't outlive the war?Chapter 38 wrote:“And think. If we could somehow give blanks intellect, we wouldn’t need ponies to fight anymore. We could produce whole armies of blanks, suit them up in power armor or fuse them with dragons, manticores, and phoenixes and send them against our enemies. With Chimera, we could conquer the entire world, if Luna willed it!” he said with a grand wave of his hoof, before he dropped it and stared into her eyes. “And she will. Maybe not today, or tomorrow… but she will. The temptation is inescapable,” he finished in a dreadfully quiet voice; I couldn’t tell if he was talking to Twilight or to himself.
Twilight stared at the blank in horror. Goldenblood stared into her eyes, then asked in a voice soft as a lover’s whisper, “Twilight… have you given a thought... just a thought… about what Equestria will be like if we win this war?”
By the way, Hinds, there's a typo in chapter 38:
Equestrian should be capitalized.“Then you tell her anyway.” I was the equestrian grand champion of kicking myself.
I'm actually going to go to bat for Dawn on this one. Imagine if Calamity had kids back in the Enclave. Was he going to do them any favors by refusing to go quietly, get branded as a Dashite, and leave the Enclave? The other alternative is a SWAT team shootout. Once the Enclave decides you're inconvenient, it's kind of a no-win scenario.OneMoreDaySK wrote:Bull. Friggin. Horseapples. <rage>I hate it when characters ditch their family to 'protect' them. Ugh. It just really bothers me when there are kids involved. If it was just Sky Striker I'd be a bit more understanding of being frustrated with the Enclave. But... yeah.
I wonder if Dawn was converted as recently as BJ unlocking Steelpony. She could have been in a stasis tube since she "died" from Enervation, and only augmented a couple weeks ago.
You know, as powerful as her augs are, they're pretty lightweight compared to Deus -- the 'scout armor' set, as it were. The analogy with Steel Ranger armor vs. Enclave armor seems pretty strong. Deus would have simply shrugged off handgun rounds, while Dawn had to back off and let her armor regenerate after multiple hits from D&s. Likewise, she doesn't have tank-killer cannons, but if she can get close she can peel them like an orange.

But at least she'd have her family with her to support and be supported by. Just ditching them for some potential savior of the wasteland is stupid. Leaving meant that Sky Striker had to take care of all the kids by himself, as well as whatever fallout would occur with the Enclave. Thankfully he seems to have managed well. She seems to do that. Can't handle stress of the Hoofington six? <i>Run away with Striker.</i> Can't handle the Enclave? <i>Run away to find heroes.</i> Is that a pattern yet, or is it too soon to call?
Dusk was mad at her but in a coma. Sky Striker is probably dying at the moment from heal-resistant wounds and visibly upset. The twins Lucent and Lambent probably miss her. And we haven't heard from Moonshadow yet, but seeing as she's into research she might be at Shadowbolt tower. And Glory went from upset to outraged. Kinda reminds me of this little quote from her:
Though it might not apply so much now to her philosophy, as of then she was bashing Calamity, and already met him.Morning Glory wrote: “Walking away isn’t strong!” She snapped back at me. “Sticking it out, backing your fellow pegasi, doing what must be done. . . that’s strength,” she said firmly.

But why? EC-1101 by itself is useless for this task, and any communication channel would do. Speaking of which, EC-1101 probably doesn't have a useable com channel from the Hoof to Tenpony either. At least at the moment.SilentCarto wrote:Well, we know they got together to do it for Pip -- the endgame on PH seems to stretch beyond Sunshine and Rainbows, so it wouldn't necessarily be out of the question for the Society to activate C-1 again for the benefit of Twilight's descendant and let her use EC-1101 (possibly with Dealer's help) to run targeting.O. Might want to call up BJ and tell her you found her 'reason-you-suck' speech. There is no way either Blackjack or Glory won't be calling Dawn out on this. Probably at a pretty critical moment, too. It would probably work if it wasn’t for Cogs. Dawn was clearly pretty broken up about everything she’d done, acting like she’d been punched in the gut when BJ called her out for being a douchebag. A little more pushing and she'd surely go over the edge. But the new Dawn has no more weaknesses to exploit.
That we know of. If she has any power in there, I’ve got no doubt that she’d be more than willing to use what little she has for Blackjack... or at least Glory. We need one final goodbye, so the least we can hope for is that she dies as herself.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Having gotten into the drink last night I wanted to post this quickly before I have to run again. Something somber said stuck with me last night while I was thinking (IE walking the dog through the woods)
At nature here we have a binary possibility, does Sky Striker live or die. At the moment he's in an effective quantum state of being both alive and dead until chapter 53 is released. When we peak inside the box so to speak and get a look at the body the probability waveforms will collapse and we will find a dead Glory's dad or a live one. Also I'll stop using round about methods to explain my point but I digress.
The key turning point in my head is simple, did Cogs MAKE Dawn try and kill Sky Striker. Or alternatively did Dawn try and kill Sky Striker on her own. If the first that Cogs tried to make Dawn kill Sky Striker then he should die as this is narrative thing to do in keeping track of everything that has gone before in Project Horizon. If on the other hand Dawn tried to kill him herself then obvious she should fail. If she is being setting up for the tragic fall of the high idealist then being forced to kill her husband is breaking her will. Cogs has ensured there is no going back by making her slay her lover. On the flip side if she's trying to do it herself then she has to fail because she's again falling, not only did she try and kill Striker she failed to do so. Thus he knows his wife is willing to kill him and that will break his heart.
FYI if this were FoE I'd argue the exact same thing but reversed. Project Horizon is always about the most depressing of all possible outcomes.
Thoughts?

Eh, I really want him alive, yet crippled. Then we can explore interaction between the two some more. What's him being dead going to do to help the story along? More angst? He'd be buried(?) with honors, and the rest of the family will have more depressing mental burdens. Come on, I want to see some kind of father-in-law drama/silliness later on. I also want to see the power shift now that Sky Striker is essentially out of the picture for the Enclave, regardless of his status.

I don't disagree that she has a history of fleeing from her problems, but you don't seem to accept that she was on the verge of getting herself executed. She could either keep talking about helping the surface and get herself executed, shut up and abandon her quest forever, or leave. She left. I'm not saying it was the only choice or the best possible choice, but it's one I could see Blackjack making, so I'm not prepared to denounce her for that.OneMoreDaySK wrote:But at least she'd have her family with her to support and be supported by. She's done plenty for me to denounce since then.
I kinda figured EC would give her access to some priority access channels and direct command over megaspell targeting.O. Hinds wrote:But why? I'm glad you linked to that. "More than Mind Control" seems very much the case to me... if not simply Not Brainwashed.Meleagridis wrote:It would probably work if it wasn’t for Cogs.

He was stabbed through the chest right? I don't think he was stabbed through the heart or arteries, cause he would have been dead in seconds. If Dawn didn't hit any arteries it's very likely he could live, but at the loss of one of his lungs. It wouldn't put him in a wheelchair, but it would make him physically unfit for a military position and stuck behind a desk at the volunteer corps.
It depends mostly on where he was stabbed. Not to mention pony anatomy would be different with different placements of blood vessels. Sounds like she stabbed him straight through. Going from a straight into position and off the side of his body (and that ponies walk on four legs and not two and a anatomical equivalent of what Dawn did would be if someone stabbed in front of the collar bone down to your pelvis) the blade would have hit clean through a lung, stabbed his stomach, possibly a kidney, intestines and his liver and bladder.
Scratch what I said earlier, he may live BUT he would probably need serious surgery. He would probably have trouble eating and need to eat more often with stitching the not dead parts of his intestines back together and coughing up blood from lacerations in his stomach, be peeing more often, and in much pain often. Not to mention the fecal matter from his intestines leaking into his body or acidic pee from kidneys leaking out.
If he lives he's either going to need cybernetic parts, clone parts or he's going to be permanently wheelchaired not out of being unable to get up, but the intense pain would be unbearable and need at least a year to have enough reconstructive surgery to stick what's left of his insides back together and recover enough to be out of the hospital.
BUT considering he's such a high level politician he probably could make it. What's more is the Enclave would not want him to be a marter for the volunteer corps.
Tl:dr; Diagnosis: Probably won't die, but he'll lose a lung and have to go to the bathroom using a colostomy bag and be in no shape whatsoever to ever go to the surface again. Essentially stuck in the hospital for at least a year for countless surgeries and then stuck in his house.
Tl:dr; of Tl:dr; Eeyup, he's crippled.

All those kids at home without a father and with Dusk being the oldest and critically injured... it would totally suck on a lot of levels if he died.

Ehh not quite, you have to stab pretty far into a pony to hit the intestines and your not remembering the stab wounds correctly.
To quote
Her hooves split as mechanical fingers erupted from the disintegrating flesh of her fetlocks, each digit tipped in a long black talon surrounded by a sickly jade aura. She plunged the curved blades into his back, slicing through his black power armor as if it was butter.
He had healing potions in his body within seconds but he was not stabbed front to back but rather direct down into his back and the healing potions were not doing much. He might be crippled, bleeding to death but he did not get directly hit in any vitals. What he got was a ten foot fall after getting a backstab with something along the lines of a sword.

Ah, I've been assuming that it's not an issue of the channels being restricted but of them having been blown to bits.SilentCarto wrote:I kinda figured EC would give her access to some priority access channels and direct command over megaspell targeting.
