Just heard a loud crash downstairs. Grabbed my Mauser, somehow forgot a shirt, and found the damn suction-cup shelf in the shower had fallen off the wall again. Damn thing was loud, sounded like something breaking down a garage door.

I was more concerned with the fact that a 350+ pound black bear was seen up the road yesterday, and the crash sounded like it came from the garage. After I saw the doors were intact, I just started checking the rooms to see if something fell.

Ah. I'm in a semi-suburban area (in that I'm somewhere along the five-mile trek from a small city to the absolute middle of hick-town. It's fucking weird) so bears are less of a problem than assholes

Frost, bears can be a problem where I am (bumpass nowhere). A few years ago, one learned how to open garage doors. The things are so strong they can just push them up even while the doors are attached to the motors. A different bear that comes around every once in a while is usually spotted up the road a day or two before I see him at my house, so I'm thinking it's him that was seen yesterday.

Just went out and checked for tracks, and didn't find any. The ground's very damp, if he does stop by (probably tonight) he should leave a nice print.

Just came home with a Type 38 Arisaka. Relatively good shape, but needs a real good scrubbing. It was made at the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo, with a serial number indicating its manufacture in either the 1920's or early 1930's. It was a tough decision, as the store also had an 8mm Mannlicher 1895 there, as well as a 7.35mm Carcano.

Now all I have to do is find some 6.5mm Jap ammo.

I think I'm turning into a collector, lol. I was warned that milsurps have a habit of breeding. That 6.5 Jap ammo is turning out to be very hard to find and expensive, so I'm thinking of just turning around and selling the Arisaka and grabbing something else. Here's a few pics.

Got the chance to handle a Lee-Enfield actually from the 1940's proper last weekend at the Royal Armoury in Leeds.

I am now happy.

Finally got fed up with the canyon-wide buck sights on my .22 Henry and bought an $18.00 scope from Wal-Mart of surprisingly high quality. Variable from 3x-7x, fits on there nice and tight. Once she was sighted in, started nailing quarter-sized targets with relative ease. Of course, to celebrate me getting a new internet hotspot so I can continue to look up poontang, I set out to find out if my old, deactivated hotspot could stop a .22 caliber bullet.

To be precise, it can stop six.
