Well since I forgot to write something about chapter 5, I'll just do that in this post with my reaction to Ch 6.

I think that you managed to stay on the right side of the line. The key thing is that the viewpoint character is just as puzzled and frustrated as the reader; the strange actions are clearly "something deeper is going on here, and the protagonist knows it" rather than "the author has no idea what they're doing".CamoBadger wrote:

After all this time, I've finally gotten through chapter five.
It was a good chapter, sorry for taking so long with it. With all the other things I've been doing and how my focus has been lately, I just haven't been able to do much reading even when I want to / try.

Urgh, there are so few details given… I doubt that it's a rotodaen, as I don't see how Spur would keep one running even if it had one in the first place. Griffinchasers aren't usually described as being that noise, but then they're not described often at all… though I don't think that they've the lifting capacity for heavy weapons or armor (the latter being needed to explain why Shayle didn't notice the pony pedaling). It could be some manner of robot, but we've not seen a model like this before…
My present hypothesis is that it's a griffinchaser modified to use a spark motor instead of pedals, armed, and fitted with a closed and armored cockpit. It's good at providing air support for a military force that wouldn't usually have access to it, but it has a very short range and likely relatively poor maneuverability for a rotorcraft. Am I right?
