It's a Army Captain so it's closer to say one Lieutenant, one Captain and one Admiral in a pure naval ranking.

Because an Army Colonel is equal in grade to a Navy Captain. So yes, if we were going naval only he'd be a Lieutenant. And I'd still be an enlisted condiment.

Last time I checked a Gunnery Sergeant is a sergeant who deals with logistics involving ammunition or something. My brain is hazy today so anyone feel free to correct me.

Gunnery Sergeants are Marine E-7's which makes them equivalent to Sergent First Classes and Chiefs IE senior NCOs when you stop getting your hands dirty and start ordering other people to get their hands dirty... except when shit really hits the fan and by all means get in there.

Incidentally, does this annoy anyone else about NV (and I assume Fo3)? In the old games, if a flimsy door was locked and you happened to have explosives, it didn't matter that you couldn't pick the now-dispersed lock. In NV, I can drop a mininuke next to thin corrugated aluminium and not scratch it.
