Review coming after homework, because I'm being responsible this semester even though the college has bungled my checks and I may get booted out due to said - it's always so fun when the accounting office transfers over to a new system. For now, suffice it to say that I enjoyed lots of things about this chapter! :)

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I finally got my review thingy done. Interesting chapter. Advancing the plot and not being boring at all or action packed. This took me the longest time yet, 10 hours since I saw it posted with intent to read it before sleeping.
- Spoiler:
As I remember what happened last chapter, I find myself thinking that this could end in many ways.
Page 1
Glory certainly is becoming more like Rainbow Dash. That was a very Dash-like expression.
This raises more questions about the transmission program.
And Blackjack thinks it isn't a big deal. Many facepalms.
Glory clearly has abandonment issues. I don't blame her.
Everypony heard it? Damn, that is bad.
Page 2
Goddess is probably just having a blast with this.
Scotch Tape just brought the awkwardness about 3 levels up.
And this is what 99 did to ponies. Although, the question of whether or not she loved Duct Tape might help Blackjack because it shows she doesn't need to love someone to have sex with them.
This is sad but actually a bit amusing.
Page 3
There. I saw that coming. It can help Blackjack's case. Now to see how well that works.
I wonder when she's coming out.
Scotch and P-21 have some quite funny interactions.
Page 4
No comment.
Page 5
I wonder just how active Octavia's soul is within that instrument.
Blackjack's path to self-destruction was probably only stopped, as it has, anyway, by Glory.
Looks like the potential death of Dusk really shook Glory. Again, I don't blame her.
Page 6
I wondered how Glory would react to the Boing incident. Probably not too well. Will see.
Great that Happyhorn helped Blackjack face her problems and fear. And that she believes this is true.
Page 7
No comment on this either. I'm not good at expressing that sort of feeling.
Page 8
It looks like the damage is being mended. Slowly, but I'm quite certain they'll both recover.
Very slowly.
Page 9
Typo?
"...told her about Graves’s and Snips’s deaths."
"Graves' and Snips' deaths." May fit better here.
Scotch is quite funny, in her own way.
Page 10
Scotch: "I'm a mechanic, not an engineer!"
Boo!
Page 11
Hooray! Genetic puzzles!
Maybe there are clues in them boxes.
Page 12
No clues here. Another mention of Cadence though.
I wonder if Big Mac was removed as well.
Page 13
Boo, silly creature.
A memory orb. I'm not a big fan of them, always so cryptic.
Page 14
The OIA sending missiles from a spacelaunch facility? Pretty low, given it's benign nature.
The thing Rarity is 'cooking' for Rainbow is probably the Shadowbolt armor.
Pinkie seems unstable.
Page 15
Pinkie was on to Golden.
What could they possibly do with Zecora?
Page 16
Oh no. What is Pinkie going to do to her?
I guess we know where the orb came from. How disturbing.
Page 17
Tin Pony. Hee hee.
Page 18
I'm still wondering when she'll find out who the Stable Dweller is.
Every third band of wasteland misfits indeed.
I didn't remember if he had killed Zecora or just badly injured her. Twas the former, it seems. It was all set up to go swimmingly, and he ruined it.
Gah! Goddess being evil.
Page 19
Devious abomination.
It didn't take Blackjack long to try to commit suicide again.
Adding Spike to Unity would be quite difficult, I say.
Very soon, hopefully.
Page 20
Kill Littlepip? With Blackjack? I know how this will work out, sorta.
Boo, you clueless creature.
Page 21
Aww. Hugs.
Page 22
2 years? As usual, it isn't hard to feel some pity for Rampage.
Page 23
But Rampage, you are real. A mix of multiple personalities into one is still a personality.
Oh no.
Good that disintegration beams don't travel along tails.
Page 24
Lacunae can only use and access memories, but not extract them.
Oh no. Not more mind-walking. It sounds pretty dangerous.
Page 25
Sekashi and her 'funny' stories. That zebra gave all he could, but it killed him and them, because they were dependent. "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime."
Foreshadowing much?
Hah! She doesn't believe her.
Page 26
The local shopfilly. Oh no.
Wat? Caprice? How...?
Oh. How unfortunate.
There's Charity.
Page 27
I don't think I like Charity.
Page 28
Roar from beneath? Hellhounds?
Oh, Precious.
Ok, screams outside. Maybe still hellhounds.
Or gravity.
This is going rather pear-shaped.
Page 29
I don't know what I think of this page.
Page 30
I wonder if someone would count how many times somepony has called Blackjack out for trying to take on everything herself. I swear it happens every second chapter at least.
Page 31
Sad that the push for progress had to be tragedy. It happens too often, in fiction and in real life.
Page 32
Pegabrella.
...What the hell?
Great, this probably will just boil down to some crazy fetish thing.
Page 33
Maybe not?
Is it just me, or did Scotch take a few levels in humor since the last time we saw her?
Page 34
Okay, yeah they did.
Boo being surrogate daughter to some of Rampage's personalities is kinda interesting.
Page 35
Lacunae is right. Proper science doesn't work that way.
Page 36
Oh my, marriage. Of course they don't know what it is.
It doesn't seem that they are getting anywhere with Rampage.
Page 37
I wonder if this memory access ability is related to the Goddess' link to Blackjack.
Shuja, neat.
I wonder how many in that legion are spies.
Page 38
I wonder just how much more effective singing ponies are in combat.
Zebras have notably better hearing. Interesting.
Page 39
I wonder who took out the bots. If this legion was setting a trap, it would be easiest to dispose of their robots to make it look like they weren't.
Page 40
Shujaa seems very proficient at close quarters fighting.
The regen talisman is with her now, I see.
Ahh, so they are being replaced by robotic soldiers. Dishonorable robotic soldiers.
Page 41
Stupid soldier.
Scratch that. Traitor.
Twist doesn't die there, so she must be giving the talisman to her.
Page 42
And so she does. Forever yours indeed.
Company? Probably not good company.
A Dashite. Maybe spy.
Page 43
Her mother. David, you make good cliffhangers.

I'm not really a Glory fan, but I have to say that the handling of her behavior here was excellent to say the least. Even after everyone throwing ideas out there concerning how she might at least understand where Blackjack was coming from with Stygius, I wasn't too sure anything could be made convincing enough to work. I have been decisively proven wrong.
In other news, yay for more reasons to be absolutely terrified for Blackjack- though the prospect of her losing her mind (or even her "self") in little bits and pieces I frankly find far more frightening than anything she has had to deal with thus far. I don't think I'm going to find it hard to keep hating the goddess after Littlepip blows her the hell up now, though the prospect of Twilight being stuck in there and blowing up too isn't anywhere near as wonderful. Regardless, that day cannot come soon enough for me.
Also, dat cliffhanger (even though a lot of you guys totally called it).
I'd like to tack on that I found this section a bit confusing:
Who is speaking in this section? Maybe it's flying over my head or something, but I've stumbled over it both times I've read the chapter today.
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go punch the wall for a while until the pain is greater than my anger at the Packers game.

Chapter 50
I’d expected weird looks from my friends. Scotch Tape just frowned. “Yeah, but it still sucks huge butt, Blackjack. I mean, I still got a big old wad of nothing between my ears, thanks to you. I still feel... you know... nervous of machines and stuff. Really annoying.” Tell me about it, because the Goddess had made me unable to tell her. Glory and P-21 looked a little more worried, though, glancing at each other. I knew they probably weren’t all that keen on being around Rampage when she found out.

Scotch, talking about the memory wipe from the giant machine pony thing (and the first instance of her hearing that P-21's her dad) and the general terror of that whole situation.... I guess? That tripped me up a bit too. "Tell me about it, because the Goddess had made me unable to tell her" seems like weird wording as well.

Somehow I forgot about that. Thanks!
I can be happy for you but unfortunately it won't erase the nausea from the loss. Though that might also have something to do with the Vodka. But I'm blaming the loss.

Already on it believe it or not. Hoping I'll dodge after effects, I work at 6:30AM...
Clearly adding another read of chapter 50 to the mix will solve this problem.

About 70% if I recall correctly. Standard procedure is to not engage pony opponents until the song ends, and retreat if necessary.ketchup504 wrote:Page 38

So in regards to the ending of Chapter 50, Blackjack is going to have to make some snappy decisions... She's going to have to immediately decide whether to tell the truth or lie convincingly - all without anypony's input of what they want, or think is best...
It's going to be VERY interesting next chapter...

Given that Glory is right there and has not introduced herself, I would guess she does not want her current situation and identity known. In light of this, Blackjack's most likely response is "Huh? Glory's right over the--[pointing] oh, right the whole Rainbow Dash thing... Uh, I dunno? Yeah, it's going to be a mess either way. But how I'm seeing it, Glory could be worried more about seeing her mother, (or more likely) seeing her mother while possessing the body of Rainbow Dash. From her own statements, I extrapolate that she won't open up and explain what happened to Dawn - so Blackjack
Then again, this is Hoofington. So in reality things could go all manner of wrong.

Yeah, Blackjack will probably make any attempt on Glory's part to hide futile. Unless, she didn't know it was Dawn, though it would be hard to forget what your mother looks like. How old, approximately of course, was Glory at the time?

Okay great chapter.
I don't know why, but "YEAH" pony being named Cupcake just tickles my funny bone
- Spoiler:
- I liked the gloryjack resolution like everybody, but my favorite part was the bits with the goddess. At first I was like why isn't blackjack telling glory about the goddess? That's much less terrible or her fault than yellow river or Boing or Stygius. Then when it was revealed to be goddess meddling I was like well shit well played Somber. Well played. Also Scotch really got me this time, she was funny. And best wasteland psychologist award goes to: Charity! For forcing Caprice to get better. Also because I am having a hard time seeing Glory's therapy as anything other than kinky spanking and whipping sex.

Great so tracy and i were taking a quiz and while I was having trouble with one of the problems,
(over thinking it)
she had solved it in her way. I was fixated on getting it myself and she wanted for me to examine her way of figuring it out. I had not solved it yet and did not allow her to explain her thing, I believed whe was going to help with the challenge, and well I was enjoying it, and when i solved it myself I tried to revisit what she was saying, she said all I wanted was to tell you my way of solving it,, I said I was sorry and that I was really trying to solve it myself, she said no I'm mad now so just get on with the next.
we did a couple more questions, I then stopped, let up review what answers we went over and turned my chair around to talk about the issue... she left. mad, I asked her not to leave mad. she did not slam the door but I'm not sure it was fair for her to do that, it was something small, although rude on my part because I would hold my hand up every time she tried to jump in while I was solving the problem.
Four years ago sam was half jane's age. now sam is 3/4 jane's age. how old is jane now?
she solved it quick, from what I gather anyway, if you answer don't spoil the fun for others on it.

I totally forgot about that hat and I know why, zero fan-art of Hat wearing P-21. Fan-art tends to create my impression of characters if it jibes with my unformed mental image. The old PH fanart of P-21 with a grenade pin in his mouth with explosions going off behind him is how I imagine him, but he's not wearing a hat in that picture so I promptly forgot the hat because it never got mentioned much again unlike say Calamity's hat which is being pushed around or blown off every other fight to use a FoE comparison.Sindri wrote:He got Dusty's old hat when she got fed through a rock crusher, remember?Cptadder wrote:P-21 has a hat, when did he get a hat?
Ten tequila shots, line them up on the bar for me and get me a chant, here's twenty bucks for the tip and another ten in case you have to roll me into the street at closing time, try and roll me into one of the nicer gutters if that happens.Caoimhe wrote:The only judge of intelligence I care about is what someone orders at a bar and what someone tips at a bar.
I am reminded of another cooking robot who was also blessed with a lack of taste buds (Blackjack had none before she became a cyborg and now she's eating tin cans for fun) so the method is clear, cook the meal of your life and lace the whole thing with LSD so no one remembers anything after except how delicious the colors tasted.Caoimhe wrote:Chapter 51: Blackjack's greatest challange: cooking a decent enough meal to impress her mom! I kid, but holy shit if that were to happen....
I'll go you one better, Blackjack shots "Look a distraction!" and grabs Glory's bedsheets to throw over Glory's mom and them makes with the dramatic escape only for no one to follower her and Glory's mom to slowly remove the bedsheets to see a familiar looking pony at the table.Caoimhe wrote:I bet Blackjack yells "Look over there!," grabs everyone in magic and runs out. I'm still down with a patented foolproof Blackjack plan of "Look a distraction" then diving out a window.Sindri wrote:Given that Glory is right there and has not introduced herself, I would guess she does not want her current situation and identity known. By the way I left this out of my roundup, but I enjoyed 50 despite the lack of action because it was a lack of action and mostly BJ not feeling sorry with herself. To be sure Blackjack was in a bad place and had some serious mental issues going on but it was not a case of Blackjack moping. Never once did I feel the urge to box BJ's ears and tell her to walk it off as my grandfather might tell me. Nope, nothing but legitimate mental issues here.

While i would love to do a long review on all of chapter 50, i have a massive courseload for tomorrow, so let me just say that i think i'll write one once i've managed to pick the scattered pieces of my jaw off of the floor. Awesome chapter as always somber, and thanks be to the brushing team.
Congrats on breaching the 1 million word mark, and good luck/inspiration for the future.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
- Chapter 50 Commentary:
Glory herself seemed equally shocked as she hovered there, forehooves pressed to her mouth and rose eyes wide. “Ohmygosh! Ohmygosh! Ohmygosh! Are you okay?”
Welp, less than a paragraph in and I'm already giggling like an idiot.
“Blackjack, I am going to spay you!”
She knows how, too.
“Hey, Blackjack. How many times did you have sex with my mom?”
Wow. Now there's a line to shut down any argument cold...
This part of the story could be titled, "Glory is from Venus, Blackjack is from Mars".
“I know you’re trying hard to do the father thing, Dad, but could you be a little less... erm... pithy?”
You know, I think this whole father-daughter thing is finally giving Scotch a proper voice in my head. Just in the last couple of chapters, my mental image of her character has expanded enormously.
Also, heh. I like the snark.
“And if the Harbingers show up, I am going to show them exactly what I did at Yellow River.” Okay. If dozens of them showed up, I’d have to do something else...
That's when you start working on The Pile.
Woah... we had a basement?
Well, YEAH... a basement that's over 1200 years old...
I’m glad you’re in grand auntie’s cottage.
So, probably Marigold's grandmother built the Star House? I know the cousinitude could go the other direction, but it'd make a certain amount of sense for Marigold to have an interest in astronomy if her batty grandmother wasa cultistinto astrology.
“Dealer,” I said softly as Boo flopped into a half-empty box.
DRAW IT NOW! BJ looking soulfully off into the distance while Boo digs around in boxes behind her... XD
“Because you’re the only pony who’s ever walked on the moon... well, except for Luna.”
Not even her. She was busy being a pattern of lunar maria. ^_^
Then two hooves wrapped around Marigold and yanked tight as the mare shrieked, “Here I am!” And then everything fell into darkness once more.
Goddamn that's creepy...
The only time he’d stopped me was when I’d thanked him for his help in Goldenblood’s, asking me to elaborate on any other times I’d gotten messages from him.
Shit shit shit shit shit shit
It shouldn’t have been too hard, but I just couldn’t speak the words. At his comment about LittlePip though, I dropped it. He didn’t need to hear any more of my whining.
I'm starting to wonder if the Goddess implanted an inhibition against mentioning it, or is actively censoring her words. Every time she gets close to telling someone, she suddenly decides not to, as if she's being nudged away from it.
“If you could contact her, you’d suggest using those silver rings against me. We’ll just take that.” And with another yank, I felt something go. Something about rings and unity.
Fuuuuuuuu-- Is it just me, or is this Goddess even scarier than the one from FoE?
Glory’d covered up in a blanket to obscure her famous appearance, and pretty soon she resembled a drowned ghost.
Nothing to comment here, I just thought it bore repeating. XD
The rain had put a damper on the frantic construction, but now the sewage ditch was overflowing and vomiting its contents all over the road...
So next time your local civil engineer tells you you need buried sewer pipes, you listen to her.
“The only trade they allow now is buying chem supplies, guns, and food and selling Stampede and Rainboom. They’re nothing but a bunch of drug fiends now.”
Vault Three calling. So you're saying when you get your fighting force hopped up on combat chems, they might get addicted to them? SHOCK!
“Well, I don’t think quite as many people heard it as the ‘champion’ comment,” he said causally as he watched the pots simmering. “Still, you’re loud, Blackjack.”
This would probably be a lot more awkward if it wasn't the Stable 99 crew, as noted earlier in the chapter.
Glory sputtered and looked at P-21. “Are you seriously going to sit there and... and...”
“Why?” P-21 just blinked in confusion. “She has her implant.”
Which isn't to say Glory has entirely internalized it yet. XD
“I know. I know. I’ll take care of your pet,” the zebra said with a smirk.
“She is not a pet!” Twist retorted.
Okay, that explains the 'Peppermint' freakout.
Same stripes... and the gutted stallion hadn’t just spilled his organs. There were wires and cables dangling from that gory cavity.
I hereby dub them "clonedroids".
“No!” Shujaa cried, saying something in zebra before grabbing the knife from her sheathe. It was long and curved, with one razor sharp edge and one flat edge. Then she reversed it, closed her eyes... and then... then she plunged it into her chest.
You'll excuse me if I don't enjoy being right, here. That was really rough.
The mare smiled gently. “My name is Dawn. I was hoping to speak to you... and I was wondering if you could tell me where my daughter Morning Glory could be found.”
Fuck. Fuck fuckety fuck. If Dawn's not a prisoner, that means she left her family for all these years deliberately, and I can't see any circumstance where we're not gonna have to kill her. Unless this is one of those zebra clonedroids and the real Dawn is in a jar someplace.

It took a pre-war brain therapy thingy to finally get me to admit how missed up I was.
messed
But choosing to eat other?
Others? Each other? Not sure exactly what the intended phrase was.
“You know, it’s times like this I can understand surface annoyance with keeping the skies covered."
I think there's a missing "the" here, or something... this sentence doesn't quite scan.
Soon it was pouring such buckets that we nearly stumbled into Chapel’s minefield.
"Such buckets" is a weird way to put that. I'd kinda like this to be split into two different sentences. "Soon it was pouring buckets. It was coming down so hard that..."
Like she remembers parts of it but not others.
That should probably say "some parts".
“I’ve got to wonder. If souls can’t remember things after they die, how does Rampage every time she dies?”
Missing words?
earth p- no... this, body was like an earth pony,
No comma after 'this'.
She was virtually unarmed save for a dagger in a sheathe on her left forehoof.
Sheath. Sheathe is a verb.

Your location on your profile intrigues me. What part of the great corn state do you inhabit. (You don't need to be specific if you don't want to.)
