Just a little post I made in the fanfic followings thread I'd like Somber to see.
Kippershy wrote:Kkat spoiled me by being able to create such an epic universe which everyone wants to be a part of.
Somber has spoiled me with an unparalleled skill in creating deep, believable,
emotionally attachable characters - and that's not just for the main
crew, or even for the allies.
Somber manages to give even the major
bad guys, big bad groups and even the little gangs a deep, meaningful
and believable backstory.
Then there's the fact he can write
characters that by any other author, would be Mary Sue, but with his
hand, are still with their flaws, weaknesses and most importantly; are
exceptionally interesting both in themselves and to read.
...So that makes reading other stories hard for me.

Because that's how we're written? I know I'm going to have a conversation with my author if I ever meet him. Or her.

Tartarus appears to be in reasonably close proximity to Ponyville, so I doubt it. It's apparently the prison for a number of "ancient, evil creatures", not batponies. I wonder if that's why the Sisters' palace was sited near there in the first place.NoodleNugget wrote:Speakin of locations, since bat ponies appear to be greek, what do you think the odds of Bj visiting tartarus?
Or perhaps their shed magic infuses the land, making it the magical place we're familiar with.
Or maybe Equestria's inherent goodness made it the ideal place to imprison powerful evil.
Anyway, it'd be kind of a vacation from Hoofington, don'tcha think?

well actually we don't really know how close tartarus is to ponyville. all we know is that Cerberus ran off(and knowing dogs, when a dog runs off it doesnt just run about the neighborhood, it runs off. as in across town. as in miles if it wants.) And considering the fact that Twilight left about mid-day and didn't return until the next morning it would probably mean that Tartarus is not within a reasonable distance of ponyville.
And besides that, who ever the real estate agent is for ponyville must be pretty damn good considering the gates of hell would be down the street.

Well, considering there was an undisclosed amount of time between when Twi led Cerberus back to Tartarus and when she got back to Ponyville, the distance could differ depending on how long she was gone. If it was less than a day, ya it could fairly close, if it was at least a day or two she was gone, than it could be a fair distance. All we know is that she was gone for less than a week. I hope that made some sense.
Heck, for all we know, tartarus could be in the hoofington region.

You really don't have to be sorry. It's a good thing.
Yes it means I have difficulty enjoying the lesser skilled authors, but that's hardly a bad thing if it means I've had your writing to read.
You amaze me, every single chapter - because no matter how excellent I already know you are at writing, you always manage to remind me that you're the best and yet you're so modest.
I really do wish there was something - anything I could do for you to make you happy and make you see how wonderful your skills are.

Here is how I know this story has ruined me. Most, if not all of you saw the Blackjack plushie and thought "Daww." So did I, at first. It is quite adorable.
But then I looked at it a little harder. Now all I can see is BJ about to be nailed to a mattress and violated repeatedly. So apparently I'm a bad person.

Not me.
Though that's partially because I see myself as a bear, and if I was directly planted into the story I would be a bear - and I would've made sure that no fucker had gotten anywhere near that boat.
Also I'm a lot more of a child at heart and would just cuddle it non stop and appreciate it in the innocent ways.
...and if anyone threatened it in any way, not even the the wrath of a woman scorned would be able to make a scratch on how much damage I'd cause to the person threatening my plushie.
...I'm kind've over-protective of the things I love at times, as long as it doesn't cause whoever I may care about any problems.

Speaking of such, how weird is it that my mind portrays Somber as an amazingly attractive person in the flesh simply because I admire him so?
Hahahhaa.
It's weird but I just imagine him as this tall, handsome, stereotypical good looking teacher look.
Her mind would also be a 10/10 if in body.

edit: oshit the time. gotta go work now, unless I want to call this one off sick?
augh fuck it, I wont call sick, that'd be dickish.
don't freak over what I said - any of you.
just know I'm weird, mmkay?

I tend to do the opposite, for everyone. It always turns out for the better, since in my mind everyone looks like a boat fell on them. Some would say pessimism is a bad thing, but it just means that I'm always pleasantly surprised.

Awesome work, you think ill of your pony art work, but you're making something that is easily recognizable as a pony... and I can distinguish each character
ScytoHarmony wrote:Aonee wrote:Hey guys, I've got a quick question. Most city names are ponified real places, so does that mean Hoofington is the ponified Houston? If so, I have no clue how I just realized this when I live a few hours out of Houston.
I think it's Washington...
Now, Friedrichshorfen? The heck kinda name is that? Something German, I think...
It is based on Huffington, Also I live in Houston...lots of cars and rich people, given I live right next to Royal Oaks country club with annual member dues of over 100k and real exclusivity oh and it is the top rated country club in Houston as well as nationally recognized,... I work for Lakeside which tied for fifth on that same roster...
Ponified Version of Houston....
First the Name Houston:
Houston \ho(us)-ton\ as a boy's name is pronounced HEW-ston. It is of Irish, Gaelic and Old English origin, and the meaning of Houston is "Hugh's town; settlement on the hill". Place name. The name's association with the American West is due to the Texan general Sam Houston and the city of Texas that bears his name.
So I can guess Hock Town, Hocston, Hackney (breed of horse)
http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/hackney/index.htm
- Spoiler:
- Elegance on the Road
The development of the Hackney breed matched, stride for stride, the improvement in both the quality of life and the use of public roadways in Britain. Prosperous farms, not nobility, were responsible for developing this high-tech carriage and riding horse. As noblemen were busying themselves with fox-hunters and Thoroughbred race horses, the wealthy farmers took to the roads to show off the tangible fruits of their labors. A pair of perfectly matched bays with elegant head carriage, trotting along smartly, their knees rising almost to their noses...ah, that was the proof of abundant crops, calves and lambs.
The origins of the Hackney as we know it began in Norfolk, England where the horses called Norfolk Trotters had been selectively bred for elegant style and speed. Seeking to improve on both counts, breeders mated the Norfolk mares to grandsons of the foundation sires of the Thoroughbred. The first Hackney as we know the breed today is said to be The Shale’s Horse, foaled in 1760. During the next 50 years, the Hackney was developed as a special breed.
The seas were being crossed regularly during the 1800s, by ships bearing both Hackney horses and the smaller ponies which certain breeders were selectively encouraging.
Vast improvement in British roadways in the mid-1800s also contributed to the development of the swift trotting horse. These roads did not always demand dray animals which could tug carts from deep ruts. Now, a man could say 'Trot On' and really go! These new and better roads fairly invited competition between farmers, both riding and driving swift trotting horses on the to market.
The breeding of Hackneys in England was formalized by the founding of the Hackney Stud Book Society in 1883.
This was the Golden Age of Driving, when automobiles were not even a dream. The Hackney was the ultimate driving machine of the 1880s both in America and in Britain. The first Hackney pony imported to America was 239 Stella, brought to Philadelphia by Mr. A. J. Cossatt in 1878.
In 1891 Mr. Cossatt and other Hackney enthusiasts founded the American Hackney Horse Society, an organization and registry which thrives today. From 1890 until the Depression, wealthy Americans brought boatload after boatload of horses and ponies of the most noted strains.
