Somber wrote:Sorry I've been so silent. There've been some developments. On Thursday mom finally gave me the deadline. Move out by August or she was going to double my rent. Then I had a panic attack and she told me to get over it. Fortunately the wonderful folks at the IRC managed to talk me down from checking out. Spiffy's given me a plan B, which is moving to Arizona and working at a call center with him. Apparently he's a supervisor so hopefully it will work out. I'm still looking for a plan A that doesn't involve checking out. I don't plan on stopping PH tho. I'll try and have it out by next week, though it's hard to focus atm.
Anyway, just wanted to tell you. Sorry for the bad news.
Oh, god. I hope everything works out okay for you, Somber. PH can wait, to be honest. Take as long as you need. *Hugs*

Ergh. Sorry to hear that. Do take what time you need, and take Boo hugs as necessary. I hope you find a place where you can not just survive, but thrive.

Just one of these days I want to read a Somber personal comment saying
Hey all, nothing bad happen recently
I'd offer you a place to stay but I only have one couch and I already have someone sleeping on it.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Let me dedicate a quote from my newest fic to Somber.
And him being sorry.
And him being sorry.
When I daydreamed of being with the number one mare of this world,
it was obvious it wouldn't be easy. When I was dying and there was
no chance of saving me, you didn't give up, you broke the rules of
this world to heal me. Then you gave me the most precious gift you
could offer even before I realized its true value. What a fool was I
to ever hesitate on your offer! And when I
finally learned the true beauty of your heart, the fancy and
infatuation changed into true love. I love you, Celestia, I love you
and it hurts... it hurts so much when you are sorry for who you are.
When you apologize for being hurt. You gave me so much and you feel
bad for not giving me more? My silly, beautiful, wonderful Celestia,
be angry, be scared, be disgusted, but never be sorry!

Dammit Somber, what the hell are you apologizing for? Letting us know what's going on? Promising to have a new chapter out on time, for free, despite searching for a new place to live? How is any of that your fault?
Other people have offered you places to stay, couches to crash on. I wish I could do the same, but I don't exactly have a couch right now. Or much of any furniture. Still, whatever you need, let me know. If I can give it, I will. Emotional support, financial help, hell, I'll take some vacation days and drive out to Nevada myself to help you move. And to smack you around the head for saying "sorry" all the time.
I know getting a deadline like that is terrifying. I've gone through it myself. But I'm still here. You can get through it more-or-less intact. Things will probably really suck for a while, but you have all of us pulling for you. We're not going to let you give up. I'm not going to let you give up. You're worth too goddamn much for that.
And if you need me, you know how to get in touch.

I try to imagine Somber working in a call center. Every other word told to the customer being "sorry".

Don't laugh, I've worked for and with call centers and every other word IS sorry when working customer service. Especially if it's fucking Bloomingdale's, keep in mind your entire customer base consists of those living beyond their means and those living way under their means so either they spent all this money on something which got messed up and they are complaining to you about it or they are literally so wealthy as to place ten thousand dollar catalog orders. You getting payed 12$ a hour to talk nice to people who makes 12$ a second and every single Bloomingdales customer in existence contrast you with Saks Fifth Avenue so much you wonder why they don't just shop there since apparently it's a thousand times better.RandomBlank wrote:I try to imagine Somber working in a call center. And a quick explanation for non-American readers and the non-shoppers among us.
Say you want to buy three pairs of normal everyday white socks
You could go to Wallmart/Target/Kmart to buy those socks for 4.99$, they will last about six months
Or you could go to Macy's/Dillards/Kohl's to buy those socks for 12.99$, they will last about eight months
Or last of all you could go to Bloomingdales/Saks Fifth Avenue and buy those same socks for 31.99$, they will last for eight months.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Welp, I is back, review time!
And guys, a life lesson to you all: *Takes up a glass and places it on the table.* See this glass? *Fills it with rocks till the brim* Now would you say it is full? ... *Takes gravel and pours into the glass, shaking it to let the gravel slip down* Would you say it is full now? *Takes sand and pours into the glass, shaking it to make it slide down* Now, would you say it's full now? See this glass as your life. The big rocks are are the important and essential things in life, your work, your health, your family. (I think it was) The gravel is good things you can live without, some extra friends, video games and all that. The sand is your hobbies. If you start filling your life with gravel, you don't have room for the rocks, if you fill it with sand, you can't fit the gravel nor rocks. But despite all this, one thing can be said: *Opens a beer and pours it in the glass* No matter how full your life is, not matter how stressful; there's always room for a beer. (aka: relaxation, tea whatever you prefer.)
And: *Squee* I saw the Avengers today, it was fangirlgasming all over the floor! I even went *pomf* a bit over the sheer nerdgasm xD
Definitely one of the best movies I've seen. I even went slight sadface and... other emotions at some parts. And a bit disappointed over one part.
And welp, think I'm finally done now, think I have like, 10+ pages to look through... if not 20+... yay!
- Spoiler:
- Can firstly say I am a bit flabbergasted. Someone with common sense and logic in the wastes? Also, can't seem to notice (cuz I fail) if the type of blood was mentioned, ghouls bad a more blackish, oozy type right? And huh, BJ can still make boggers? xP And ah BJ, always responsible with money xP Kinda wonder how the heck she found her though... and okay, did NOT expect to see someone "dead" return. (of the innocent/good guys) And dude... BJ, you broke her pelvis? Better have been on one of the sides and not from behind, since that would just be pure negative karma, especially for such a young character. And somehow getting a feeling she was only rescued so she could be killed, again... and kinda unsure if eneveration would leave medicine unraped, but eh, it might be a shielded room. And eh... don't really like Psycho's development. And it has nothing to do with me, I promise xD
And huh, some more interaction. Personally not a fan at all of fru-fru stuff (at least not make up), but eh, not impossible she could like it. Kinda liked the ghoul theorising tbh. And suspicions, pondering and guesses are building up as usual. And derp, I forgot the griffon was a ghoul xD And again, imo, Psycho latched onto Styg VERY quickly tbh. Then again, he could be a very effective, semi-logical "rebound-guy" or whatever they're called. And I thought alicorn shields kept away normal attacks as well. Then again, if I can't recall it, maybe it was just that super alicorn that had a anti-living thing shield as well. And hum... guess the ghouls could be affected by Styg's screech. And okay, I did not expect to see Spoon return. And okay, I kinda derped at the Styg scene there, you had 3 people on one person? Two of which had no medical training, and one without any healing capabilities at all. I get that he needs to be helped, but either one of the one that could heal would likely have been enough. And eh... even more "x didn't really do shit, y did it".
Hum, did that happen when BJ unlocked the other project? Can't remember. And yes, do trust Golden, what could possibly go wrong xD Then again, can only recall 2-3 times he "betrayed/messed up" for them. And why am I not surprised he as one of the best book collections in the world? And hum, this might be a explanation to the necrosprites, even if their "we're from pink cloud, bithc" works well hehe. And wasn't Silver like, "buck you" radioactive? Have to say I'm surprised there was faecal matter left in that thing. Also, wasn't magic weakened in there? Or was that just teleportation and pipbucks? And well, can so far gladly say the smileponies are nothing like my smooze :P And like, again: wasn't the magic dampener on? Or eh, could've just been in that corridor. And ha! A semi-LotR reference xP And okay, now noticed the slime stuff was blue, technically not smooze then. Or well.
Acctually slightly pondering how they got Silver Spoon along tbh. Would require finding the ghoul first and stuff. And have to say, while I dunno if I'd done directly and done it like that, It's quite close to my mentality. And hum, quite sure Rampage will get a something now. Although, slightly surprised she didn't react to being called Twist. Also, a stuffed pony or a ... "stuffed pony"? And again, with the "x didn't really do anything, it was thanks to y". And recall very little of Rarity and the black book, but wasn't she against it? Just did the statues as an act of... stuff? Still, this makes her seem quite a bit evil/malicious. Have to say she at least were reckless. Then again, going somewhat ooc (or giving them new "behind the scene" personalties is one of the things PH does. And hum, living inanimate objects, creepy and rather effective. Personally don't see much how the objects would be "strong", but eh, it's magic. And kind of karma for Psycho tbh heh. And just have to say: Really? Was the "strong stallion" part really necessary? Strong pony would have been better imo. Or was it a penetration joke?
Was about to comment why the heck there was boots in there, but then I recalled AJ's boot along with Rarity's in the show. As figured the blade would be able to do some use. But really BJ? Arguing with seemingly mindless inanimate objects? And not sure about the tests, but as said, new personality/behind the scenes, just like Fluttershy and partially Twilight. Hum, not entirely sure how a power armour fails to protect from a landslide, depending on stuff, doesn't they supply air? Or I'm guessing it didn't feel like supplying air. Or something. And dunno about Xan, but not sure if her trying to survive.or I dunno, I am woozy. The cliffhanger was interesting though.
- He never signed the damn cards... also, you'd think such high tech would have better medical stuff aboard.

Big Macintosh is a strong stallion.
Are you seriously going to tell us you think Macintosh couldn't whip AJ in any contest of strength? There's nothing sexist there, it's just mammal biology.

Please don't be sorry for something that isn't your fault, sir. *hugs you tightly*Somber wrote:Sorry I've been so silent. There've been some developments.
I don't suppose there's the off-chance that Spiffy lives in Tucson, is there?
Well at least that still gives you a month to figure out a plan, and I definitely don't want it to involve checking out. Anyways, this is one of those emergencies I was talking about saving what little money I have for... I've got about 300$ I can donate toward your getting an apartment where Spiffy lives or just towards moving expenses for however the Plan A (that isn't checking out) goes.
Our house isn't the biggest, and it doesn't have AC, but my mom and I would be happy to give you a place to stay at least so you have a place to get your feet on the ground - if you don't get any better offers. I'm very serious about this, and I can send you a PM or email later with more details, if you'd like to hear. My mom and I both want to help, so please keep it in mind, sir.
(Also, if you do end up moving, depending on how much you need to take with you, look in to using flat-rate shipping from the post office to send the stuff ahead of you, because it might be much less expensive than moving it though other means.)
Going to send this in a PM too, so you have a better chance of seeing it. *hugs again*
Thank you, sir, and no, there's no way I could even begin to compete with Egophiliac.SilentCarto wrote:Awww... epic boop.

Good luck on whatever future events may occur. I live too far away to offer a couch, but if you need any tips for the tip jar just ask. I'm saving up mah money. And remember, reality comes first, ya don't need t'pologize for not making a biweekly chapter on time. *hugs somber*

The rocks won't affect the taste really. It's the sand and gravel that is the problem.
So it's the bulk of little things that spoils your enjoyment with life!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It's not a film I'd recommend to everyone, but if you liked Night Watch, you'll probably find something to enjoy in this. Bit more action heavy, maybe, and less weird, but still fun.
For one thing, I can tell you that I'm definitely not worse off than you, so you don't need to feel bad for mentioning it to me by any measure. Also... this is a bit (read: a lot) hypocritical of me to say, but if you're hurting, you're hurting. Doesn't matter if some are worse off; if you need a friend, or at least a friendly ear, then there are people here who're happy to give one.
Relationships! I am in a very similar boat to yours. In my experience, an open relationship generally is not the same thing as polyamory, meaning that each partner is (generally) free to pursue sex with other individuals, but not to have another long-term partner. So... yeah, doesn't sound like the right time. And as to expressing feelings you'd rather not show, well, if it's really a concern I'd suggest reining in your alcohol intake around people you can't trust to ignore the things you say while inebriated. That said, it's my experience that people generally do forgive and/or ignore most things that inebriated individuals say. A person is not exactly the same when they are under the influence of a drug, and I think most people recognize this on some level. (Again, this is just based on personal experiences. Also, please take any romantic advice I give with an amount of salt no less than seven times the mass of this planet.)
Lastly, regarding "it's what's on the inside that counts" - this is also the case with me; however, a good personality makes for a better friend than a partner. Or so I am led to believe by a not-entirely-unbiased-and-utterly-unscientific study of individuals and American culture. (Also, I have no personality. )
In any case, I'm glad you're feeling a touch better. Watch out for pain meds and booze, I hear they often don't mix well. Good luck with clearing out some of the rubble, and don't worry about asking for advice or help or just plain ol' cheering up; we like to help.

Oh dear. I'm sorry, Somber; if there's anything I can do, let me know (I'd extend the "move in with me" offer, but my house is small enough for three people, I don't know where you could find work here, and I'm six or seven states away.). At least there's a bright side to this: when the dust settles, you'll be living with a friend/friends and fan/fans, which will probably be a much more comfortable and healthy environment for you than living with your suboptimal mother.Somber wrote:Sorry I've been so silent. I'll try and have it out by next week, though it's hard to focus atm.

My father once told me that looks are important because if you and another person are both equally attractive "on the inside", the person who is more attractive on the outside "wins". A tie breaker, so to speak. Of course, some people have differing opinions on how someone is attractive. The comparison between the milkshake in a glass and one on the floor is valid, both would probably taste good, but you wouldn't drink the one on the floor.swicked wrote:Quotidian wrote:I know the whole "It's what's inside that counts!" schtick is so cliche it hurts, but at least in my case, it's true. I'm attracted to personalities. Intelligence, humor, compassion, dedication, kindness. Those are all huge turn-ons for me. Not that a hot body hurts, mind you, but it's really just a nice extra. You don't drink a milkshake for the cherry on top, after all.
...no, you drink the milkshake because it looked good. You expected it to be good. It was presented to you in a glass, for example, rather than on the floor.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the fact that the scarf was attacking someone in the latest chapter reminds me of this comic.

Somber you get all the hugs, support and friendship I can muster. There are no right words to say to a friend (if you'll allow me to call you that) when the carpet has been pulled out from underneath them. I'm just going to speak from the heart.
You're well being comes first. It will always come first. One minute of suffering on your part wouldn't be worth all the fanfiction in the world. PH has done a great deal of good in my life, but that's because of you are the good person behind it. Remember that. I currently don't have a place for you to stay or job lined up, but I can give you all the verbal support I can. Feel free to PM or email me and I can look over your resume. Over the past few months I've been working to help my soldiers out with employment and I can give a few pointers on how to construct a targeted resume and improve your interviewing skills. It doesn't solve all your problems, but my help is on the table if you'll have it. Rapid changes like this can be hell on people and this wouldn't be the time for half measures.
You may think well of yourself. You may apologize for things you outside your control. But I think you are one of the better human beings I've had the privilege of knowing. I may sound like a broken record, but you do great things in this word. Just knowing that there are people like you in the world makes it a better place. For every one person who makes your live difficult there are 1000 more who want to see you happy.
You've been a continued inspiration to the stories I write and share. My tabletop RPG group is enjoying a game which is roughly 60% Project Horizons. I tailored the particulars to a group that wanted to play humans in 2296 New York City, but every element that I can draw from PH has made it into the game. Last week's session was the exploration of Project Prometheus, and became one of the best my group has ever enjoyed. Damn, just talking about it makes me want to run a skype game.
You do good work. Even if things look down now, the pain isn't temporary. Keep you chin up and it will get better.

random internet thing of the (insert length of time here): 'Gone with the Blastwave' has come back from the dead, it's a gorgeously drawn webcomic with an awesome art style, it's quite short (only 50 strips), doesn't take itself seriously, and is set in some gigantically huge ruined city with several armies fighting over it for some unknown reason, seem mostly from the view point of a couple of lowly soldiers of the red army, the only unfortunate thing is that it'll only update one to two times a month

Well...this is... something to walk into.
Somber ,
Just letting you know there are social programs that are meant to assist people like you. Since you have what you have depending on the state's program there could be help for living situations and such. Usually you can start with a suicide hotline from there they can help locate local community resources to help you find a more suitable living situation. Sometime there are possibilities for job connection with the social program. In example in Houston we have a program called section 8 for people of low income they only pay a percentage of their monthly income for their apartment they just have to work full time. They have job fining resources to assist with that too. There are assistance options out there the best you can do is look for them and it says nothing of character to ask for help when you need it. It takes far more strength to say help me... I forget what state do you live in again?

Blarg. This is getting to be a bad habit. Between various things you all are probably happier not knowing about, I have been unable to get three hours together all week, even after reducing my sleep period from four hours to two a night, and I refuse to break up a chapter. And I knew it was going to be posted saturday evening because Somber told me so and it’s been burning at my brain all week and--
ahem.
[Dammit Somber, stop apologizing or... I dunno. But I know where you live.]
Okay, now to read through the past week of commentary. Probably starting with the last two pages, since the skim on the way here indicated crisis.
ahem.
[Dammit Somber, stop apologizing or... I dunno. But I know where you live.]
- Spoiler:
- Caper. Working against time to prove her innocence after being caught at a murder scene by catching the real crook?
Where did Blackjack go, and who is this diabolical, silver-tongued mare? I was worried she’d be falesly accused or something, but who could argue with that?
Okay, competent police work, no crazy stupid accusations. Going quite well so far, aside from the whole adorable-ghoul-that-everybody-loved-is-splattered-across-the-floor thing.
Woah, Willow partnered with Softheart? We need to get Rampage in an investigatin’ mood in here. Also, more stories from Wil.
Okay, Softheart wounded, probably fatally. Angel taken by Image, used in soul-splicing project. Softheart recovers, but has multiple personalities and tries to kill her foal before jumping in front of a train. So she almost certainly had the regen talisman put in her, with the Angel already in it... what happened to her body after it got hit?
Pro tip: when cursed by Blackjack, do not wish for her to appear. Lethally or otherwise.
Pink, curly mane, blue eyes... Boing?
So. Much. [Buy some apples!]. yay.
Injured comrade. Singular. So none of the pegasi Blackjack attacked survived except for Dusk.
See, even by cursing people Security spreads goodwill!
Oh dear. Nurse Graves has... not the best of chances of returning from Hightower intact.
Heh. I don’t know why I love Cerberus so much. Stupid ghoul-loving ghouls.
Psych, be nice. Styggie likes nice ponies.
“‘Te imploro non me occide!’”... I’d guess ‘I implore you not to kill me.’ Google it? Italian for “I implore you not western!” …
…
The most cursed zebra ever has officially joined the party! When this is all over, take her back to Chapel and let her rest. She’s good with machines and kids; her and Charity could take over the Hoof if nothing else.
Aaand a brainwashed griffin in power armor. Fun! Maybe you can find a loophole in his contract or figure out how to buy it when you come back.
So party of ten into the enervation and radiation and death. Now accepting wagers on how many will return.
I don’t give Graves or Shears very good odds. Blackjack, Lacunae, and Rampage are all but safe. Especially Rampage. Psych has more character development to do, and she’s a survivor. Stygius is the only link to the batpony community; if he survived Steel Rain he’ll likely survive this, but his teleporting habit might lead to detours; he might even get his first taste of “a good pony died because you made a mistake.” I don’t know about Xanthe, but I feel like she’ll make it through this one. Carrion is almost guaranteed to survive, unless things get ironical... I call he will either get somepony else killed or die himself. And Cerberus is all but doomed, but will likely have at least one hilariously involuntary big damn hero moment before the end.
Fanart request of Lacunae in the fancy dress, if it hasn’t already happened.
Anti-enervation talismans made out of old shell casings? Shears is now incalculably valuable to the Hoof. Meaning that he’ll never make it back out of Hightower.
Somebody else that they’d listen to?
Oh. Oh goddesses. Tell me she didn’t bring Spoon.
It occurs to me that you have just removed the two best fighters and half the medical staff of the city. This may not end well regardless of the result of your mission.
What keeps a ghoul sane? “a thing inside you that’s you. Like a tiny guttering flame... But if it goes out...”
Of course. The soul is the difference between a ghoul and a zombie. So what happens when you bring a bunch of ghouls into a heavy Enervation field? Particularly the one of them who, unless I miss my guess, you are totally reliant on for transport through these tunnels, and barely hangs on to the last shreds of her identity? Yeah, if that’s Spoon there, I see very little chance that she’ll make it through the prison without turning.
Woo! Reliable, repeated magic bullets! I do believe Blackjack’s magic is officially recovered from her resurrection.
Is Cerberus one of the models with a flamer? Because that would be extremely convenient. Buzz-saw, perhaps? (and yes, Lacunae with an AM rifle is a wonderful thing)
Shears... let’s just file him away under improbable weapon user for now, shall we? I suppose there’s a certain logic to playing to your talents in combat, over the course of a three century lifespan he’d have plenty of time to practice, and telekinesis would mitigate most of the disadvantages of such a style...
eeeyup. Spoon. Attentive to the plights of others as ever, I see.
Styggalicious gets all the medics.
Careful Blackjack. You don’t want to break your cover by failing to be a total bitch.
Dealer appears but says nothing? He can either watch while unmanifested or go through her memories, so he probably didn’t appear just to watch... which means that either there are times/places where it’s trivially easy for him to manifest, or he has some other reason to be here at the unsealing that makes it worth the effort.
Oh good. “Diamond Tiara” suddenly whites out while Spoon is the only thing keeping the swarms of ferals back. This will go so very well.
Yes Rarity, feed the ancient tome of blackest lore to the parasprites, and then look away. This will not doom anyone at all.
Hrm. Between Rarity’s lines there and Spoon’s earlier, it’s starting to sound less like the OIA was working in the shadows and bridging things between ministries and more like they were explicitly in charge.
Okay, not out at all, just having heavily compressed memory inserted in her head. Or maybe that’s what the Dealer was there for; he could turn on her SATS right when she went in to prevent trouble on the outside.
Blackjack needs to learn to lose.
Wait, Styggie can still flash in the anti-magic field? That opens a lot more options, and improves his and Psych’s odds of survival considerably.
WTF slime ponies. I don’t even.
Psychoshy seems to be making a habit of being a big damn hero when Blackjack is pinned and seconds from death. This probably annoys her to no end.
Seriously. Slime monsters. What.
Lots of thrilling heroics from Lacunae today. I guess the radiation is stronger than the enervation here?
…
…
You did that entire scene just so you could say Smooze, didn’t you? No, it’s okay Xanthe, this one was the author’s fault.
Right, Blackjack? Keep moving. You may have delayed it, but nothing can stop the Smooze.
Shears! Graves! Psychologist/Rampage! We need you to keep this nigh-feral glowing one functional long enough to get out of here alive, and Blackjack is the opposite of helpful.
Okay, I shouldn’t be laughing at “this latest installment of ‘What the fuck, Blackjack,’” but... *snrk*
“‘Hopefully the magics we used have worn off.’”
That’s a line you never want to hear from the guy who used to work on mad science here. Especially when talking about magics that are supposed to last millennia, minimum.
*coughs up blood* My doctor warned me not to say cryptic things.
(cookie to anypony who gets the reference)
And now you’ve angered a roomful of indestructible, soul-filled objects who started as captives, were tortured to death, and left to sit for centuries. Clever.
Psych is now a full member of the party. Though I guess she’s kicked BJ in the face plenty of times before, and she still hasn’t shot her...
Ooh, that suit of recon barding seemed friendly...
Okay, this might be squicky to others, but my mind immediately went to taking it with you and using it as a sort of living power armor. I mean, it should be impenetrable, and likely has the same large-stallion-ish strength the others displayed.
So the starmetal sword can cut soul jars. Makes sense I suppose; the eater’s metal devours or destroys souls, and the indestructibility of the object results from its physical form being merged with an immortal soul. That’s a useful thing for the future.
Smooth. Real frickin smooth. Outsmarted and disarmed by the scarf that couldn’t figure out that a ghoul wasn’t breathing.
Ooh... I recognize that suit. Jet black, circuit tracery, female voice, chem distribution... want. “Who can I hide you from today?”
You’re bringing it with you, right? Right?
Okay, so the armor doesn’t help against strangulation, serious crushing, or injuries inflicted to places it doesn’t cover. What does? It’s still the best damn armor there is, aside from the whole screwing-with-your-mind thing.
Ah. So it actually increases the chances of things it can’t protect against. That would be inconvenient. Still, that’s seven failures on eight suits, and the remaining one seems to be helping you. I’d risk it, but I’m crazy.
...
Okay, I’d want to at least talk to them first. It can’t speak outside of specific phrases, but you ought to be able to put a pencil in its sleeve.
Yes. Put Xanthe in the magic armor. Can’t get more cursed, give both of them moral support, both zebras so there shouldn’t be any extra interference there, and it gives the squishiest member of your party nigh-invulnerability and a sneak bonus.
“‘You’re my new best friend,’ the armor chirped, making the zebra mare actually blush.”
Okay, logically I know that it’s a pre-programmed phrase and that’s probably the only positive greeting-type message it has, but... *Sqeeeeeee!*
I am officially shipping Xanthe x Steath Suit now. And if it hasn’t already been done by the time I get this up, I request fanart of this quote.
Okay, that answer that question. Either enervation does not make ghouls feral, or the cellblocks don’t have enough of it to do so over the course of two centuries. So the prison still contains hundreds if not thousands of self-aware ghouls. Who have been trapped here, screaming, for hundreds of years. And knowing the MoM, half of them are probably in here for littering, but even the rest have likely served their sentences dozens of times over. Your infiltration mission may have just become an exodus.
...
Psychoshy wins.
Okay, now to read through the past week of commentary. Probably starting with the last two pages, since the skim on the way here indicated crisis.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
Okay, replying to the last two pages of comments before going back through the other ten I missed:
I'm afraid I'm not in a position to offer employment, or shelter in less than emergencies (and several others have made better offers), but a few bits are in the mail. I wish you the best, and if there's anything I can do...
If there's any of us (or other friends of yours) in the area, or if you're up for a change in region, I think it might be good for you to start with a roommate. It'd give you support from someone who wasn't an authority and wasn't pushing for you to leave, a bit of a safety net for the rougher times, and reduce the cost of rent. Not to mention reducing the probability that you'd do something... foolish in your darker moments.
(and congratulations!)
And I saw that film myself recently! It was with my family on father's day, and the only pleasant part of the things that kept me from the new chapter this past week. And my reaction was similar.

- Spoiler:
- Although I tend to doubt that the Son of Coul is actually dead. Fury was lying about pretty much everything else surrounding the event, at Coulson's suggestion, to pull the team together. The death scene was nowhere near instantaneous. The medics arrived scant seconds after he stopped speaking, and the placement of the wound and his actions after receiving it suggest slow bleeding rather than major organ damage. All that seems to point to his being patched up and relocated to a hospital outside the warzone until after his "death" had inspired the heroes to beat back the invasion.
The only thing that really bothered me was when the put Black Widow in the frontlines in the ending battle. She was magnificent when she was working as a spy, or against normal human adversaries, and it could have been cool if she'd been fighting from the shadows (putting shots through the aliens' eye-holes and joints, using melee or stolen energy weapons, taking over flyers like she did at the very end, whatever), but by insisting that she fight openly in that battle they established that the alien soldiers could be taken down with a few shots to the center of mass from a 9mm pistol. In which case, why is this even a problem? We have our own army, which is apparently better equipped, better trained and more numerous than the invaders.
Also wasn't greatly pleased with Hawkeye as a borderline amoral assassin, but that's just because I was a fan of his swashbuckly guile-hero trickster portrayal when I was a kid.
In closing, Hulk wins the award for best shut up Hannibal ever.
C'mon, the star spawn probably worships Blackjack anyway.WavemasterRyx wrote:Maybe that's how they'll beat the star-spawn at Black Pony Mountain, I'm really not sure how much it would work with anything in the prison.

It's latin! For "I implore you not to kill me," according to Google.translate. Which kinda makes you wonder why "to kill me" and "western" are weirdly close together linguistically, Italian being by all accounts a pretty heavily romance language. (Ooh, and there are totally people who might know in here!)Sindri wrote:Te imploro non me occide!
