Erm, I dunno if your first line ("humans doing evil things") was in direct reply to my post, but the film's not about that, exactly. The characters aren't exactly evil so much as manipulative, self-interested, and driven. Similarly, in Calvary, the point is that the characters aren't evil, just human and in pain and foolish and lashing out at the world - or, if you like, sinners and damned sinners, since it's a film about religion in many respects. Both films are too interested in their characters to do anything as boring as make them mustache-twirlers. They're by no means good people (Calvary's cast is exaggeratedly awful), but they're not demons.

Anyway. You don't want my advice. Got my sympathies, though, if you're not shitting me, for what that's worth.

Sorry if the recent nonsense involving me talking about things I enjoy's been annoying. I know my tastes are, uh, eccentric and not shared by most folks here, but sometimes something strikes me so powerfully that I get the urge to rhapsodize about it and whatnot.
