Glad to be of service
On the bright side, I have snagged Omega Ruby from my library, so that means I won't be online as often (for a week or so), so you'll be seeing less of me
My Holiday gift to the folks of Cloudsville; cheers~♥

Wah? You put magazine in and hit the slide release, or manually rack the slide. If you don't want to chamber a round, omit step two. It's not that fucking hard.Mister Frost wrote:Do you know how to load a pistol without chambering a round and without taking the weapon apart? Congratulations, you are smarter than this fucking mall cop they have teaching this class.
Apparently, inserting a magazine and just not racking the slide doesn't work. You're supposed to hit the takedown lever to let the slide go forward (partially disassembling the weapon) and then insert the magazine.
This because she is attempting to teach a room full of soldiers how to operate weapons
OAC, part of the reason I loved Morrowind so much was that there was the "main" quest present, but you could run off and turn something else into your main quest if you felt like it, and there wasn't really consequences for doing so unless you got to a certain part in the main story. Hell, the first guy you meet literally tells you to go screw around, and from there you were free to do just about anything.

If cloning technology is ever perfected, would society treat them fairly? Would they be regarded as individuals, or as fakes, nothing more than slabs of meat?

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
- Small rant:
You know what I fucking hate? Triggers.
I don't mean I have triggers. I mean I hate the concept of "triggers" and the people that reference them.
"Trigger" is an actual medical term used to refer, usually, to something in severe PTSD cases. Basically, it's a set of circumstances or reminders that bring the experience in question vividly back to the person suffering from PTSD. More commonly noted in victims of rape and civilian assault than, say, combat veterans (though the most publicly-known PTSD sufferers tend to be those who got it from combat) for various reasons.
Naturally, the internet, mostly Tumblr, has taken the concept of a "Trigger" and run with it. Now, something that puts even the slightest damper on your day is your "trigger" and it's not okay at all to talk about; certainly not joke about. I've never, personally, seen someone truthfully say "I have PTSD and this joke/scenario triggered me; I'd prefer if you avoided that in the future." or anything of the sort. People who actually have triggers tend not to have hair-triggers, and most seem to prefer distancing themselves from the issue if it makes them uncomfortable.
But, no, the musty and sedentary denizens of the internet (mostly the same ones whose sense of entitlement leads them to cry "sexism" whenever someone has a problem with the fact that they're a horrible person) see fit to further degrade the treatment and perception of actually traumatized and ill people by claiming that the mere mention of groping someone's breasts was a "rape trigger" or that hearing a gunshot was a "violence trigger".
"Trigger" has become synonymous with "I lack the emotional maturity to discuss or even mention this issue like an adult, so I think that gives me the right to censor you."
You'll all excuse me, I trust, if my sympathy for their "trigger" is virtually nonexistent.
Absolutely unrelated, but, ladies, take note:

Unfortunately Triggers are going to be another sacrifice to the SJW alter of redefinition. Like misogyny and rape culture that came before. You've said it perfectly, I have to wonder how this happened. Someone must have realized no one gives a shit when they use the right word for what these people (The ones using this term in the incorrect manner) are feeling. Which would be offended.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
That. That is the heart of the issue. Excuse me if my 19-year-old self sounds like some sort of old-time conservative grandpa, but it really seems like a lot of the people that have emerged on Tumblr and the like in recent years just mainly suffer from the problem of an utter lack of perspective.Last wrote:Someone must have realized no one gives a shit when they use the right word for what these people (The ones using this term in the incorrect manner) are feeling. I don't say that in the sense of belittling suffering--I'm not one of the assholes that says "I don't care if you're poor; you have a house while people in other countries have nothing." Or "Poor baby; you were assaulted and beaten. Too bad; people were murdered today, too."--it's idiotic to say that you're not struggling or suffering because someone else is struggling or suffering marginally more.
I mean that in the sense that these people seem to not know, exactly, what suffering actually is. Someone called them a bitch--an insult with feminine etymology--therefore, they suffer sexism on par with that of a century ago, where women couldn't vote and the outright abuse of them was quietly ignored. Someone insulted them, therefore, they are being bullied--an act used to describe ongoing verbal or physical harassment that has been known to actually drive people to suicide. Someone trolled them; therefore they have PTSD
- Spoiler:
- Note that her "PTSD" left her "bedridden for six months" and she "works from home" and "fears leaving home alone" while actual PTSD sufferers, who mostly loathe playing the victim card, focus more on overcoming it and trying to re-normalize their lives. Not directly related, I think, but significant.
I'm not glorifying the "good old days". The "good old days" were full of homophobia, sexism, racism, corruption, and all sortsa bullshit. I'm just saying that in years past the customary way to gain recognition or fame, should one desire it, was to actually strive to achieve and become remarkable in some way; not to inflate the menial, mediocre struggles and triumphs in one's life in hopes of demanding attention.

Totally. More than even games like Skyrim and Oblivion, Morrowind was an open world. I swam to Solstheim at level one and ran away from bears that were twenty or so levels higher than me. With Far Cry 3, not only is a lot of content locked out until you progress in the main (and only) plot, but there really is only one single, linear story in the game, with side activities tacked on. It's a relatively open world game compared to most FPSs, sure, but freedom was not one of its core tenets. Whereas in Morrowind you could kill people essential to the main quest, and the game would let you keep playing after informing you that you had doomed the world. (Obviously this didn't carry over to Oblivion and Skyrim, which added the "essential NPC" concept to keep players from accidentally doing this and thus ruined many a fun post-save murder-romp through towns.)StoneSlinger88 wrote:

Nice. Liked that he had a grasp of the oldschool style of singing. Production could have been better for that aesthetic (or... worse, I guess?), but he probably doesn't own cheap enough equipment and was wise not to fake it. I'd say Agalloch already sounds pretty happy, sometimes. (Also, their songs may actually contain lines about loving happy frogs and bumblebees. They already quote Emerson a lot.)Ironmonger wrote:

Just knowing that an extreme metal band may have almost painfully happy songs makes me want to write a death metal song about being a good citizen, but one that still has the violent lyrics that's typical of the genre. Like, "don't litter, or we'll maim you with an axe." That's right; one axe for the whole group. It's that big of a weapon.
On a side note, as can probably be gathered from the above, I'm feeling a little better after all of the crap that I've been through.

Heh, well, they're on the folksier end of black metal (less so lately) and most of the happy stuff might be better described as serene, or triumphant/celebratory. I don't think it's ever in a happy key, like the guy in the video did. (Although, that said, I don't really know much about which keys are happy, or how to identify a key for that matter :P) Anyway, I'd listen to a death metal song like that, for sure. Megadeth did that with Peace Sells, sorta - bit more of a direct commentary on how being a metal band didn't mean they just fucked around all day and hated god and the government (also was thrash, not death metal).Ironmonger wrote:

I learned something interesting today.
Apparently a few decades ago, there was a trusted adviser to the pentagon that was concerned that it would be to easy for the president to launch nuclear weapons since he had an agent following him around everywhere with 'The Football'.
His proposal was that in 'The Football' rather than launch codes there was a butchers knife, and if the president wanted to launch nuclear weapons he'd have to gut his companion to get them.
