Nothing is canon, everything is permitted. The next fallout game will also be the next assassin's creed game. Because, fuck it. (No, this would not be something I'm interested in seeing, the games are too mechanically different)

BTW regarding "super hard mode" and "realism" in FPSes, my experiences with the STALKER franchise, Metro 2033, and a heavily modded Fallout 3 have taught me one thing: super hard realism mode is also known as easy mode once you get used to sneaking, sniping, headshotting, and occasionally having enemies play tiptoe through the landmines. Problem is, this doesn't work for the melee enthusiasts, who need to be able to soak up a lot more damage during open field fights.

Much better. Yeah, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is non-canon, but Fallout Tactics is simi-canon from what I hear. Events of the game happened, but only in the broadest of details.

At least that's what the Fallout TV Tropes said. Same goes for the canceled Van Buren. While a lot of the planned story bits was put into New Vegas, broad versions of what happened there did happened.

The reason why even though I like STALKER I can't play it is that it's not realistic enough. What I mean by that is the respawning enemies are horrible. I love STALKER, but the respawning enemies are the biggest downside to the game considering how difficult it is. If they removed the ability for human enemies to respawn then to me it would be perfect.

What you trying to say is that if you clear out almost perfect place for bandits to hang around, another group of bandits won't come in looking for 'good place to hang around', right?
in this case respawning is good thing or game would've been pretty empty. And if Stalker for you is hard..don't you ever try Misery mod for it.

I'm with you there, dude, I never play melee characters. But it's sort of a given in Fallout that there will be an option to be a giant dude with a super sledge in metal armor, and it doesn't work well, especially in fights without cover (which happen, at least in New Vegas, a lot). In comparison, a sneakysnipey character LOVES open terrain, because he or she can just snipe the baddies from the furthest distance they render.

My computer is nowhere near powerful enough to run it, sadly.

@Respawning Enemies
I always just assumed that they were coming in from other parts of the game world while you weren't looking. =P Like, past those impassable fences.

Tbh, I just like Stalker (that is Call of Pripyat, others are kinda shitty). It's setting and such. And I've read book that inspired it all (By brothers Strugatskie. Book is call'd "Stalker").

Nah, stalker isn't hard for me.  I just started getting pissed that as soon as you enter a door they immediately respawn.  A lot of people say stalker is hard, me I think it's just right for difficulty.

*goes to next area
"Oh wait, I forgot to pickup that gun"
*goes back through door
*fifty soldiers directly looking at me five seconds after killing everyone and everything that had moved
"FUCK!"

It's not about whether or not you think it makes sense, in a game it's a terrible gameplay mechanic.  Imagine adding realistic physics to final fantasy level terrible gameplay mechanic.

People that go around run and gunning in games like stalker are a bunch of scrublords, so why should there be scrublord gameplay mechanics in the game?  It's like if they added a super button to street fighter to appease scrublords that don't know how to play fighting games.

I can understand they added it so the player would have more ammo and such, but this is stalker we're talking about not call of baby: modern noobs.

That annoys me in general about games, when they implement things meant for making it easier for scrubs to get items in a game not meant for scrubs.  Why don't people just add the ability to get ammo drops for dayz whydon'tcha?

That is literally my only gripe with the games.

My aforementioned Unarmed run is honestly just for the challenge of it, and to shake things up. Just about all my other runs have been Sneak/Snipe/Repair/Lockpick guys that end up being stupidly, ludicrously OP--my character could surprise ass-rape anything in the game from a hilltop a mile away using the Gobi Campaign Rifle that Jury Rigging allows to be kept in perfect condition and I got at (I think) about Level 13 or so.
