The principles are fine as long as they're not taken to extremes. You know, the difference between taking taking technology so raiders can't get it and acting like raiders themselves because a town has a working beam rifle or two and a computer.

I couldn't find any specific sources online that weren't the wiki, but weren't said deserters the poor saps that they tested the FEV on?Ketchup wrote:Any source for that? Either way, we know that the Annexation was deeply unpopular both at home and among the troops (for example, the Survivalist from Honest Hearts, who was stationed in Canada, said that it was "just sickening, the criminality of it.")

You'll like it, I think. It gets pretty bleak at....always...but it's really well done. Just remember to never forget any character who survives two episodes, because they'll end up being important (and probably die another two episodes on)Moodyman90 wrote:Unrelated to anything but I finally got off my lazy ass and watching Attack on Titan now.

On a side note, comic relief is important in a story; it keeps it from being too bleak. There is such a thing, though, as overdoing it.
For instance, Berserk's Puck is a plucky little fairy/elf-thing who breaks the fourth wall and gets sidetracked with wacky antics. Here he is talking to a very annoyed crow, envisioning the monstrous Godhand as group of harmless cartoon characters. However, this is the sort of world where The Godhand, the five angels that rule the supernatural realm, are more like demons, and to let someone ascend to angel/demonhood they require that you sacrifice everyone you love. It's the sort of series where A few pages later, the hero, Guts, is ripping through fucked-up-beyond-all-reason humanoid bug monsters with a giant sword and his bare hands. Call me crazy, but it kind of kills the mood.

Sounds like Game of Thrones than. "Don't get too attached to anybody" and all that.
I'm on episode 5 now, near the end. They're all like "We got this! We're gonna kill the Titans!" and a few minutes later I'm just "Well fuck... I've had failed missions in X-Com Enemy Unknown go better than that."

Or just Scorch Mechanic. Even if he doesn't have a an accent, his voice gives me orgasms every time he talks. It's a shame that he's been working with the increasingly dead FoE Radio Play, since it's been 9 months since his beautiful voice entranced my ears with a new chapter of the audiobook.CamoBadger wrote:

But, yeah, I'm on Volume 15 of 34 (plus some extra chapters) right now. It's a really good series with interesting characters, if you don't mind monsters that would make Lovecraft cross-eyed, graphic nudity, violent rape, people getting crushed and dismembered, and elves.
Of course, I've just proved to myself that I don't need an elf to ruin the atmosphere. On the previous page, it shows that a few hundred burned and emaciated children are being buried in a mass grave. It's a somber, grim, and horrific sight. I burst out laughing because I at first thought that the priest was flipping off all the dead children

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
You know what would be awesome for a game? For a game that combines all the great parts of a post apocalyptic games. Imagine if metro 2033, fallout, stalker, dayz and such had a awkward love child?
Something that is ungodly difficult, no such thing as radaway, no such as medkits(health healed over time through rest, medical attention), and instead of just dosing up with rad-x you would have to avoid radiation all together. A game where sure anti-radiation medication would reduce your radiation sickness, but scrublords that just dash through radiation would be deader than a doorknob? Also getting shot is not downplayed at all. By that I mean if you get shot in the face you're dead, if you shoot them in the face they're dead no matter what. If you get shot in the chest the armor will protect you, but you'll still be seriously bruised. A way to help a player would be to have not just a giegar counter, but something to tell in what direction and such. I know it's not realistic, but it would make the game go from impossible to just not a game for scrublords.
You could theoretically have only a indie developer make it if the map is small enough, and it would work if you turned down enemy npc's spawn rate way the fuck down. A game that is actually only a couple city blocks and only a couple hundred enemies, but the enemies are so ungodly difficult that it would take hours to complete.
Actually a smaller map and less enemies would work better for a realistic post apocalypse game cause too many ungodly difficult enemies and people will ragequit, too large of a area and they'll feel lonely.
Tl:dr; It would be awesome to see a realistic post apocalyptic that is ungodly hard, but with small enough area and with so few enemies that it is still possible to beat it.

Eh, guess it's a sorta decent pet name, even if rather flat.Mister Frost wrote:It was a line from Kip's fic.swicked wrote:...Kippershy wrote:Only a few will understand this... but those who do will laugh.
I sure as hell laughed.
Can you explain it, then?
The "little pip" is her vagina.
@EP: (Fallout) Personally found it rather retarded with some perks, and technically the skill system too.
And especially how they made "bloody mess" a "needed" perk in NV.
Or how you "shoot harder" with higher in guns, or how explosives explode harder if you have high demolition... it's just a bit too "wat?" for me.
In that regard, I really need to finish my FoE-RPG. So damn close to finish... erf... just need some motivation.
And I know it's quite "un-fallout" to remove levels, but honestly don't want a game where you can take more 73 more bullets to the face than an average person just because you're level much. Or survive a grenade in the rectum because you're experienced, and know how to stop, drop and roll.
(Stuff) On side note, once I get the final piece, I'll offer to send people pm with a collection of five 18+ pony things. Would want some feedback on 2½ of them, and just overall opinion on the rest. There will be royal content, and some on the "exotic" side. You should all know what that means.
@Frost: Is the series overly generic or bland with anything? Doubt I'll manage to get to it, but a bit interested to hear on that front at least.

Well, use what you know. While not an expert, I know just how badly a mission can go in X-Com and yeah it fit.
I dread Cargo Ship landings, especially those that put you right at the entrance of it. I have had 20+ aliens on screen focus fire on my men, destroying everything that could count as cover and pretty much mortally wounding if not out right kill my team within two turns of starting the mission.
