As far as I'm concerned, the "Do not put down Somber" rule applies to everyone. I've never seen things get too out of hand like I have at many other sites; this is a very friendly place with no outright oxygen-thieving window-licking shitbags. We can be a little eccentric at times, but being normal gets boring after a while, and compared to most of the internet this is a relatively polite place.

I know it's the internet, but it doesn't kill people to be decent to each other.

FoE threads generally hate you lot for the strict no upsetting Somber rule, because how some people have judged 4chan, because how they feel we don't criticise anyone enough and a few other reasons I don't fancy explaining because I should really, really be asleep.
The reason I don't include myself in this is because I'm not a pure clouds member. I was browsing 4chan long before ponies came along and though I've had the thread hate me for a time, generally the posters are in agreement that I'm a pretty okay guy after all.
Not perfect, especially not when I allow my spaghetti sperglord autism-like impulses take over, but yeah.

What puzzles me is why they care at all about what the people here do, it shouldn't have any effect on them. If it's not the ideal environment for the desired type of discussion, then those people don't come here. It's very simple.
But it's not exactly unheard of for people on the internet to look for something to hate to make themselves feel special, or for some other silly reason that isn't immediately clear.
Having hatred for the sake of hatred doesn't help anyone, it just serves oneself.
I guess haters are going to hate, it's just how the internet unfortunately works.

Boo-fucking-hoo they're not allowed to try and make someone feel terrible about themselves. There's criticism, and then there's just being an asshole because the internet allows it. Somber needs criticism to help him improve. If they're interested in making constructive criticism, they seem to be relaying it through you. I'd rather they just come here and say it, though. Make things easier. And for the record I really don't have anything against 4chan itself, it's just certain assholes that spoil it for the rest of you.

Hell, I love the whole lot of ya. Not romantically obviously, but platonic and maybe borderline bromance at times. That said there have been a few on here who've said things I've disagreed with, have expressed ideas I'm not really for, and can be annoying at times.

But over all, hell, that's stuff expected. Just how life goes and what a person has to deal with when interacting with others. And with that said, I respect you Kipper for reasons including the time you joined the FoE RP and let us interact with your characters. It's the same respect I have for swicked for his entertaining reviews.

So there are groups of people on other sites who don't like us as a collected group on this site, who cares. Like I said, they're entitled to their opinion. I can't stop them from having one, and I'm not going out of my way to try to change it.

And ya know, maybe sometimes we do go overboard when it comes to the "don't put Somber down" rule and what is meant to be constructive criticism is seen as an attack on Somber thus we enter defensive mode.

My point being, we're human. So we here on Cloudsville do our best to try to be nice to Somber, is that so wrong?

I like Gavin so much because even though he seems to have trouble conveying his thoughts and does some things that backfire spectacularly, he seems smarter than he lets on. Rather than focusing on winning, a lot of times his attitude is "Alright, let's see what I can get away with."

Can't trust the dwarves. They're greedy and love gold and have beards and big noses and worked with evil a long time ago and don't care about anybody but themselves. Also, they are shorter than humans - literally subhuman. The key to this exercise is taking things that sort of exist in the work, and then making huuuuge logical leaps while ignoring any evidence to the contrary. It's like taking the Devil's Advocate position, and then stepping on over the line to Satan's Little Helper.

By the way, it's funny to think about the fact that the Bible tend to depict the Roman Empire as the "Empire of Evil", while the Roman Catholic Church is an emanation, though somewhat distant, of said Empire.
