Sweet. Are you already scheduled for the test, or is this hypothetical?

For now I'm finishing my school year (at the end of this month) and then I'll concentrate myself on that.

I don't know about the French military but joining as an NCO in American means at least eight years before you can become an officer.  While joining as an officer is easy with a two year degree and officer cadet school.

That's a case of "different countries, different rules". Here I'll be able after two or three years as an NCO to pass the internal exam for promotion to officer (after which I'll be sent to the Air Force's school for two years if I succeed).

I don't have the correct academic background to try my hand at becoming an officer by the "front door". And if I were to try going in through the "front door", which would require me to take at least two years of prep school I'd be 85% sure of flunking, I'd be too old to pass the exam / contest by the end of it.

Yeah, that's true. Honestly, I'm not sure how many people at all still buy those comics. Their heyday is definitely passed

I think heard something in the ballpark of 10,000-20,000 copies sold per issue. Including the New 52 series of issues.

I mean, shit, the My Little Pony's IDW comics outsold the New 52 with 90,000 sold on issue #1 alone.

On the topic of Superman (tangientally, but still) I saw Man of Steel. It was pretty good.

I hear mix reviews for it, ranging from crap to good. Haven't heard anybody call it great yet.

I'll see Man of Steel eventually. I hope that I at least find it good. But in all honesty I wish it's good enough to maybe get Warner Brothers/ DC Comics to get their shit together when it comes to superhero movies. I'd love an actual rivalry between DC and Marvel movies, one that wasn't Batman versus everything else.

Why would they change what they do,

if they can constantly rehash the same fucking plot they've been rehashing for the last 60 years and still sell it to the same 15,000 hardcore fans who will swallow absolutely every piece of overpriced crap Marvel or DC shit in their mouth, to the last drop ?

And same thing for the movies : they're doing, like, 250 million dollar of gross profit margin per movie. Why should they change what is obviously a success ?

It's good, then, that Nolan has said he's done making Batman movies. He considers everything settled and is content to let the character rest as far as cinema goes. 

However, the executives have stated that they're working their way up to a Justice League movie. Granted, I liked Avengers, but I doubt they can make it work the same way

I suspect by 2015 we'll stop seeing any big-budget superhero movies on the level of the Dark Knight or Spiderman ones.

And this is why I don't read current comics. I just wait around for when some of the more famous stories are released in a collection and read them that way.

I'm most likely wrong but my observations is that the problem with the comics industry is that the people who run them today are the fans of yesterday. They grew up reading comics, and something changed they didn't like, so the go off and get jobs work in comics so they can change it back to how it use to be.
In the meantime, while those people grew up hating what was changed, new and younger people loved it and get pissed when it's changed back, so they grow up and get jobs in comics to change it back. Thus, a cycle.


The film industry is more or less going "pump out safe and reliable film plots with established characters/actors" and any attempt to break the mold either fails or simply get's adsorbed into the system so what was new and unique because old and common place in a hurry.
