Seriously, it's all bright and cheerful and flashy on my monitor.
In other news, I just watched Double Rainboom. It's... ok. Good animations, story-wise is a bit off paced. Dunno why the PPG were all goo goo over a pony, or aggressive to the retreating monster.
And then I found info on the Boston bombings yesterday. Mood flatlined after that.

Err... it isn't? I made it pretty small on my own monitor, trying to compensate for people with a lower resolution. I guess I didn't do it enough, though...

Lullaby for a princess has done much for my adoration of Celestia.
Every time I listen to it it becomes a bit more twisted to my ear.
Her admiration for herself and her confession of being "blind" (she claims, at the beginning, to of noticed her sister not getting her due early on) to her sister's depression. What's more, her claim that it was her (Celestia's) fault that Luna fell.

What are the elements of harmony to work with such a being, anyway? What if the elements worked for celestia because they needed to, and she was never a fit bearer on her own in the first place? My own head canon draws more on the idea that Luna, in a way I’ll leave undescribed, helped to defeat herself. The sisters banished discord together, so I must question why two were needed when one was required. The nature of the elements prevents a cast from being stopped once it has begun, after all, Discord and Nightmare Moon otherwise had plenty of time to try and attack or get out of the way of the beam. I assume they knew such a thing to be impossible.
Anyway, Celestia has so much power and she uses it to assign herself the blame wholesale. In the show... what does she tell her? That it's been a thousand years and asks if she will accept her friendship. No forgiveness whatsoever, she just awaits Luna's tearful apology. The smaller sister is SO much less than her elder, all the more after 1000 years, and it's said that Twilight was originally going to take over for Celestia? "We were meant to rule together." How very admirable :P
So much fanon of Luna's slow resumption of power, so much time still in the shadows through all of the seasons.
What's more, her act now, this lullaby... I imagine her singing it every night. "Bear up my lullaby, winds of the earth, through cloud and through sky and through space..."
Who does a goddess pray to? The other goddess. Simply remarkable, I've never before considered such a status quo. In all of mythology, stories of gods and goddesses, intervening with mortals and having their own qualms and struggles, who do they turn to? I always assumed them to essentially be atheists, aware of nothing greater than themselves (in the spiritual sense), but the idea that one would pray to another… it's just so weird, even if that's not exactly what Celestia is doing in the song. Even though it's fanon.
It's insane how much more Celestia is when compared with Luna, yet still so much less than she could be. It's insane how much more she is than any other of her "little ponies", as she calls them.
Because I can admire power, even if I don't respect it, and Celestia is very powerful, in so many ways beyond her raw magical or physical ability. She is strong of mind and character, is capable and dominant, and she has built an entire world around herself from a world that, per Hearth's Warming Eve, didn't originally need her anywhere near as much as she’s gotten them to.
It's just fantastic :D
