What if she does? What if, against all odds, the goddess found the bomb? What if she was seconds, even minutes, away from teleporting it out? What if Lacunae saw the opportunity to distract the goddess, if only for a moment, and took it? Took her own life so that the goddess couldn’t save her own?
That would be cool. I could jive with that, fer realsies.
Wellll... that would be pretty cool, but that was kind of the point of having Xenith plant the bomb in secret, so the Goddess couldn't rip the information out of Pip's head.

Anyway, I'm 95% certain that the purple alicorn who rescued Littlepip was Lacunae.

swicked wrote:
Goldenblood shaking hooves with Princess Luna.
By the way, does anyone know why ponies do this? I’ve never understood it, myself.
In human terms, handshakes originated as a gesture of offering your arm for inspection to show that you weren't concealing a weapon. So... I guess you'd prefer that ponies did that by kissing?
Big mac

swicked wrote:How do you not know Goldenblood by now? What do you know of him, whatsoever?
Didn't Trottenheimer and Goldie go to school together? Far from not knowing him, it's probably long association that makes Trottenheimer think the best of Goldie. He thinks he knows this stallion, but he wasn't raised in Zebrica. He probably can't even fathom the level of machination that Goldie is capable of, nor his dedication to Luna.

swicked wrote:...but Fancy Pants died in the Resolute incident, as would any of his heirs, so that would be that.
What's a Resolute? Are you mixing up PH events with MN7? Because as far as we know, Fancy Pants was piloting the Fleur when it left Blueblood Manor.

swicked wrote:My point is, though, I dunno if Blackjack would know even the vaguest thing about food preparation like the concept of a slaughterhouse.
Ponies didn't eat meat at all before Last Day. Why would they have the concept of an industrial meat-processing facility in the first place?
I'd advise you not to get hung up on the wording. Somber's just painting a picture here, and it's an effective one.

swicked wrote:...and, hell, our “Blackjack-ready solution”. A big button to press to make the bad stuff go away, perfect!
Oh, good call. I hadn't thought of that yet.

swicked wrote:...one of the flower trio (and yeah, I know we’ve known about this place’s name for a while, but I’m reacting to it now)? Did EVERYONE in Ponyville end up making it big?
Well, I wouldn't be shocked if the newly-minted Ministry Mares turned to their hometown friends first when they needed something, and Ponyvillians probably found it similarly easier to get grants from the MWT and MoP to fund their own pet projects. Plus, having hosted Celestia's student and the Elements of Harmony for years, I wouldn't be surprised if Ponyville eventually earned the aura of someplace special.

"I'm Twilight Sparkle, and this is my favorite shop in Equestria!"

swicked wrote:What effect does enervation have on specialized healing potions like rad-away? I’ve never seen. I don’t even recall the last time she came across the stuff, though, anyway...
Drugs are unaffected by Enervation. It's just healing and restoration potions that get drained.

O. Hinds wrote:
Swicked wrote:Oh, Glory, you have beautiful eyes...

Hahahaha! I hadn't noticed that before! :)
I must have missed something. What's the joke here?

Glory was already unarmed, except for the loaned Vigilance, and she shrugged.
Oh, hey. No comma after "unarmed".

You know, if BJ ever needs to intimidate someone, I'd love to see her grab a pistol she doesn't care about, shoot Rampage in the head, then eat the pistol. "Now... do you really want to fuck with us?"

"Resolute Incident" => I think he mean the Redoubt.

"You have beautiful eyes" => if you click Hinds' link, you'll see that this is apparently a quote from the fic' "The Rainbow Factory", and these words are said by Rainbow Dash as she's committing whatever atrocities to someone else. And Glory look like Rainbow Dash.

swicked wrote:No, the thing... was it Redoubt? The aristocracy project that turned out to be a big scam.
I didn't remember him leaving the manor, though.
Well, that was in the Ch. 33 memory orb. Fancy Pants grabbed a sledgehammer and accompanied Vanity to go hold off the mob while the rest of the aristos escaped, but he dropped out of the story when Vanity joined the guards at the barricade. I would assume Fancy Pants escorted the servants and aristos who had just jumped the barricade back to the ship and took off, because Vanity saw the Fleur departing just before writing out his final message.

probably for the best, all you're missing is the occasional reference or comparison, though it does jade you into raising your gore standards (which is possibly a good thing).

It was fun to read. With a matching playlist (Rammstein - Weiner Blut & Mein Teil) and brain half turned-off.

There *is* an actually-semi-good derivative, written by several people in a collab (it started out as one of the alternate endings), called Cupcake Chronicles.

Hey, and Dues regenerates too, so he's like an infinite food supply for her. At this point I'm starting to wonder if there's anything Blackjack can't theoretically eat.

So no infinite tank buffet for Blackjack? Sad. Still, I imagine he's good for a midnight snack when she's feeling peckish. Wonder what tank tastes like? She flavor categorizes just about everything else she eats.

I suppose it's like any other animal : the taste is different depending on which piece of the beast you're having.

I think treads would be considered as a Third Choice piece. Turret, on the other hand, would probably be a First Choice.

I think, now that I remember, there's a section in this chapter with rhyming in it which includes a rhyme with "Deus," however the pronunciation to make it rhyme is incorrect since Deus is pronounced "dey-oos" not "doose."

You know, the International Phonetic Alphabet is really a great tool.

It's just a pain in the ass to use, and it's also a pain in the ass to find online a translator that will take a bit of text written in IPA and turn it into sound.

If you go by the dictionary, you pretty much have your choice of vowels. (Not really surprising, since it's one of the oldest words in the world, probably dating back to the invention of agriculture.)
I prefer to pronounce it latin-style since it's usually seen in the phrase "deus ex machina", and "DAY-oose" avoids confusion with "dais".

While I wait for the PDF version to include chapter 55, I just discovered that 54 was revised as soon as I finished it! So, I'm a bit confused, hope you don't if I ask for some clarification? The fight with the Legate is likely the biggest change, and while the hoof-to-hoof duel was realistically epic, does that mean he doesn't have a godly staff with freaky element-controlling zebra power? :(
Also, since the part where Lancer lost an eye and was kicked out is no longer there, does that mean he's still in the Remnants? Lastly, were there any other plot changes to 54, or any other chapter for that matter?

Finally got to the chapter, still catching up in the comments, but I did find a couple of typos so I'll put them here before they become outdated.

Spoiler:

Now I'm still catching up, so maybe this is a gun jumper... but people really seem eager to dismiss King Arsehole. Maybe murder maybe plotting, but whether or not the guy is dead manipulators like that don't step off the stage without a little more screentime.
