"You were thinking about your family. You did what you had to, I understand."

"It still wasn't right." Charcoal was quiet for a while.

"Ponies like me don't deserve happiness," he said under his breath.

[Orm]

"You need to stop doing this to yourself, Charcoal. Just because you say that you don't deserve to be happy doesn't make it true."
Searchlight sighed.
"Besides, if I died at least I would have known that it was for 3 foals and Mirabelle."

[XT Vengeance]

"Searchlight, every time I get involved in anything, ponies end up getting hurt."

[Orm]

"You lived in the wasteland your whole live, right Charcoal?"
Searchlight asked.

[XT Vengeance]

"Yeah, why?"

[Orm]

"Then you should already know that ponies get hurt and die all the time in the wasteland.
Tell me, how many times you saved a pony? Every time you could have hurt someone but didn't."

[XT Vengeance]

"Search, my whole town died because of me. My family, and Mirabelle's died because I wasn't good enough. So pardon me if I hate myself every waking moment of my life," Charcoal said angrily.

[Orm]

Searchlight was silent for a moment then looked away. "I understand. I'm sorry."

[XT Vengeance]

"Not as much as I am," Charcoal said quietly.

[Katarn]

After skimming through book, Novae put it away. She knew at least half of it already, but there were few points and tricks, she never thought about.
She set her hooves from bed on floor and proceeded to the door. She really needed to talk to Clock about what was happening with her.

Hopefully it won't get more awkward than I think it will...

Novae got to the clinic pretty fast, she saw both Quiver and Clock there.

Well, maybe I should do it later...Sigh. If there will be time for this 'later'...
She walked to medical mare. "Hey, Clock. Slept well?"

Clock turned to face the zebra mare, "Better than I expected. Need something Nov?"

[Katarn]

"Weeeeell, kinda I do..." She looked around. And leaned closer to Clock. "Maybe somewhere in more private place?"

[Tytan]

Clock sighed and stepped into the hallway, "Alright, what do you need?"

[Katarn]

"Well...how do I put it...I love Quiver. I think I do." Novae rubbed her head with hoof. "And I kinda get really-really-REALLY excited around him recently."
She sighed. "I don't know how to describe that..."

[Tytan]

Clock gave her a knowing smile, "Like you want to jump him and not let him up until you're happy?"

[Katarn]

Blushes, but quickly nods several times.
"We've been in his room...I mean, he rented that room before and it was empty during attack...anyway. I don't know what came over me, but I've suggested that both of us took shower in same time..then in shower...I don't know, my brain refused to function right..if I haven't turn on cold stream of water, to pour on me...I don't know what would've happened."

[Tytan]

"And this has never happened before? Ever at any other time?"

[Katarn]

"Well...now that you mention it...no, I didn't want to tackle any stallion.....or mare. Though this few times I was really excited about watching stuff explode..." Novae blushes a little. "I think I've even wet myself once or twice, while watching explosions."

[Tytan]

Clock is very clearly confused by that last part, "Duh, I... I honestly don't know what to say about that... What I can say is that I'm surprised this is the first time you've been in heat. You're either a very late bloomer, or a lot younger than you look."

[Katarn]

"Um..heat...? I don't feel sick." Though Novae quickly places her hoof on forehead. "I don't think I have fever."

[Tytan]

Clock drapes a hoof over Novae's neck, "Hun, when mares get to a certain age, usually when they start puberty, they start going into what's call 'heat'. It means that once every couple of weeks, from spring till fall, you'll want to jump your buckfriend for about five days. I can recommend some 'therapies' if you don't want to do that, and there's a lot of other stuff you should know as well, but there is one very important thing you need to know. When you're in heat is the only time you can get pregnant."

[Katarn]

"P-pregnant...? F-five days...? From spring to fall...? every few weeks?!" Novae dropped on her rump. "I....I don't know. Sure I love Quiver...but what if he freak out...what if I get pregnant..." She thinks for a moment. "not really bad thing though." Novae shakes her head. "Not now, maybe later...much later."
"What 'therapies' are we talking about? Needles? Pills? Dancing on hind legs at midnight in wedding dress?"

[Tytan]

"No no no. Nothing like that. Now, you've already figured out the cold shower, but that's one of the less fun 'therapies'. But the best way to relieve some of the tension is..."

Clock starts whispering in Novaes ear, explaining various methods that mares use to relieve tension without the attention of a stallion.

[Katarn]

As Clock begin her explanation, Novae's eyes grow wider and wider, while her face become bright red.
"Oh..oh my...did...did you tried ALL of those things?"

[Tytan]

"No, but you hear a lot of stories on the road, and I've read a few trashy romance novels. You should start simple with some rubbing, but if you feel you're ready you can try some of the other stuff. Now, did you need to know anything else? Anything at all."

[Katarn]

"Anything at all?" Novae started thinking.
How about I'll ride your hor-- what the hay?!
"Do you think I should tell Quiver? And...well..will 'rubbing' make some rather nasty thoughts go away?"

[Tytan]

"You can if you want. I won't tell him if you don't want me to. And it should make them go away, for a while at least. It only lasts a few days."

[Katarn]

"I wonder how he'd react..'Oh, Quiver. I'm on my 'heat' and I want to you to *squee* me or I'll pounce you and make you *squee* me and then we will have babies, maybe. If we won't die horribly in this wretched world.' " Novae sighed. "Sooner or later I have to say him about it."
Novae looked at Clock awkwardly. "C-could you explain how exactly I should 'rub myself' or...um...show me? If that's okay."
Novae facehoofed. "Sorry...sometimes I say stuff first, than think...you don't have to...I think I could figure it out...trial and error style."
