I know, I'm still stuck on Terran mission 10, though I haven't played in a long time, though I did beat WoL without any cheats, though I think I looked at a couple walkthroughs, now I want HoS, don't have the money or the time thoughswicked wrote:Harmony Ltd. wrote:Am I the only one here who never played any starcraft game ?Kippershy wrote:

Who's with me?!
Edit:
No, really, I couldn't even get through the protoss campaign without cheats. Then, when the expansion came out... I wasn't able to get through ANY of those.
I loved the story, though, so I did still play it all through several times XD

Ha, you kids today.
If you want a hard game, go play Enemy Nations, six players, impossible...
Okay, okay, at that point it literally was impossible without cheating (loading up as the AI) because the AI would immediately gang up on you the second you landed.
However, 1v1 impossible was possible, but near impossible unless you played smart, fast and heavy.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
Well, this thread went quickly today.
Now for the landmasses. Both of the long horizontal islands look strange—the plates in both areas are pulling apart after the changes I've made, so there's not much reason why those areas of continental crust should have formed, or are still there. There's probably going to be some island chains (think Hawaii, possibly longer), but nothing overly big. (Might help explain why Nightmare Moon's eternal day wasn't as devastating as it could have been; there's not too much to bake over there.) You'll also likely want to take the top of the southwestern spur off of the Pax Romana plate, but you can push it further northeast (following the eastern side of the fault) if you want to. Likewise, the southern extents of Pax Romana should stay more to the eastern side of those faults as well, and you might even want to include some ocean between the north-south fault just east southeast of center and that landmass—the divergent boundary will very likely be creating seafloor. Both points in that last sentence may be more or less ignored if you want to emulate the East African Rift, though that's probably not going to continue too much farther south than the fork/join until the west side really starts breaking away. Other than that, everything looks like it should work! (Yay, those geology classes were useful for something!)
Feel free to use or ignore anything in here as you see fit; my opinions should not get in the way of your mapbuilding, if the combination causes some unresolvable conflict anywhere, or even just if you'd prefer doing something a different way.
You have a lot of plates that are traveling in the same directions; draw a lot of arrows around the edges rather than one in the center and you'll see the movement more easily. That's not unprecedented, but the amount of matching in your map still seems rather strange. Rotating the vector of travel of the main Pax Romana plate a bit farther north helps. At that point, and after spending probably too much time messing with GIMP's "Map to Sphere", it seems like the central southern plate might look better if it were going in completely the opposite direction, and the one split across the edges of the map if it were moving south at the equator. Beyond that, the only thing I can see is that a lot of the plates around Equestra seem to be rather small, especially in relation to the rest of the world, but nothing world-breaking. Though I am wondering how the tectonics would work for them.O. Hinds wrote:

Yay, thanks! I've copied your feedback into a document on my computer. Could you possibly please upload a larger version of your edited plate boundaries map, though? Some of the text descriptions are a bit confusing, and the current upload is too small to get much detail from. I don't know when I'll be able to work on this more or how much I'll be able to get done (though I almost certainly won't be changing geography that appears on the smaller-scale maps, as then I have rather a headache making sure that everything matches up, among other things), but thank you again!WovenTales wrote:Well, this thread went quickly today. You have a lot of plates that are traveling in the same directions; draw a lot of arrows around the edges rather than one in the center and you'll see the movement more easily. Also, no one's replied on the plate tectonics issue yet. Does that mean that they look fine or that you don't consider yourselves qualified to evaluate them?Looking at it now, you may want to rotate the Pax Romana plate slightly less than I did on my map, to roughly perpendicular to the southwestern boundary. Just makes things seem a bit more geologically sound. Also, the western side of the Marediterranean might actually be bowed a bit to the east; the way I see it, the Barberry plate is pushing farther in than it was in the (geologic) past, and that small corner around Gallopoli is beginning to twist counterclockwise.

Oh, regarding the small plates around Equestria: my headcanon is that the meteor impact and subsequent influence of the Eater did some nasty things to the local geography. The Equestrian Peninsula actually uncurled; the impact site's original location was farther south and landlocked, and the Sea of Equestria didn't exist.

It was fun! And I can upload an even larger version, but I think that's still the same size as the map you posted earlier. Have you tried clicking on it? I used the thumbnail feature on the "Host an image" button so I wouldn't take up quite so much space. Though I do agree with the text descriptions being confusing. Sorry!O. Hinds wrote:Yay, thanks! That is rather nasty. If that's the case, you may want to reevaluate the direction of the Pax Romana plate; I was imagining it eventually closing the Marediterranean in the very distant future as Pax Romana collides with Equestria. Actually looking at that, there's not really any problem. I was imagining that the Marediterranean is the remnant of a larger sea closing as Pax Romana moves toward Equestria, but that doesn't really affect the Sea of Equestria. Talking about different things, I guess.

Well, I've gone ahead and officially uploaded my map of what I'm currently calling Zebrica (which is honestly a bit fuzzily defined as a continent, but then so is Europe); it doesn't have quite as much information on it as the now-deleted alpha version in my scraps, but most of that has an even higher headcanon content than the rest of the map.

This I'd love to see and it's in your sig, time to look over it and Zebrica is better than ZebstainO.
