Frost If you're angry, i mean what you just described earlier to your reaction to the show seems like a lot of anger, maybe its being displaced from somewhere and being directed towards the show. For that matter, wouldn't it be a waste of your energy to be angry and upset at a show directed towards children like that? I despised chowder, but I did laugh at a few of the jokes for sure.
I'm not angry at anything in particular. I just think that at this point the show has gotten absolutely ridiculous

What scared me so badly was a dream. To be more precisely a dream about a nuclear war. To be more precise the dream was that I was going shopping at a large scale market, not a walmart, but one similar. I was talking to my mom talking about what we need all while passing by eyeing something less than respectable wondering how to buy it without anyone noticing listening to my mp3 player and the new music and such on it zoning everything out. Then the bombs started dropping all while the sirens going off. I could see it, hear it, feel the heat, taste the dust in the air, smell the burning ash being blown throughout the wind all while evacuating and leaving behind a friend or someone cause they didn't make the first train while looking out for my mom and hoping that the rest of my family somehow made it.
That's not the scary thing. It wasn't a normal dream. Once in a while I get this hyper-realistic dreams where not only can I feel everything and such, but I can remember the events that led me to where I was and no matter how much of "this is a dream" doesn't change anything. Let's say I went for a bit to eat at mcdonals. In the dream so long as I'm in the dream I'll remember how I got there, my past life choices in the dream and any information in the dream I know of thus violating how dreams work to the point that if I try hard enough to retain a fraction of the information when I eventually wake it still violates how dreams work cause your brain should not be able to come up with a 100% hyper-realistic dream where it's thought up of everything and every nook and cranny to the point it's less dream and more matrix of being completely unable to tell the difference unless someone told you and you saw for yourself it was a dream.
What's worse is I've written it off time and time again. The thing is the hyper-realistic dreams are often of extremely emotionally terrifying situations. What's more is that unless I deliberately make choices directly opposing the information from the dreams they how should I put it tend to happen. The single most notable example in the dream was walking down a hallway looking at every detail and getting back to class from going to the library. Then panicking almost about to puke my stomach as the intercom and going completely pale in terror. A couple months later I started a new school was walking down a hallway from the school library when *click* the intercom comes on and the information I hear makes me want to puke in terror. It for a brief moment felt like there was two minds inside my head and began screaming inside my head and trying to cram every bit of information I could down the odd feeling's mind hoping they can stop what was happening feeling as those both minds were desperately trying to avoid what was going on completely ignoring how it felt to feel as though you were in two times at once in two bodies going "stop this!" and that is what happened to me in september in two thousand one.
And THAT is why dreams scare the living sh*t out of me to the point I have a fear of dreaming. Also no I am not superstitious, I don't even believe in stuff like having dream like that, but it doesn't give a care if I believe it's real or not.

I had a dream last night my aunt gave me a 1962 Volvo with the cab chopped yielding a bare frame in back that I wanted for the purpose of LS1 swapping to ratrod it despite no one in my family having a 1962 Volvo.
So make your dreams cooler somehow I guess. :/

good news most likely you would have died from the fallout within a few days so you wouldn't have had to live in the the Nuclear Winterwonderland...instead it would haave beeen an agonizingly slow death as you literally shit your innards out.

I caved on the Brony doc. 49 minutes in and this is dorky as hell but... sincere, I guess. They spend some time with this kid from Maine who must be 12-13 who is a little fearful of telling his dad about being into this stuff but he comes along to Bronycon with his son and is obviously weirded out. John deLancie introduces him to another dad who is way into ponies with his own young son and they chat about it. Dad doesn't seem impressed (very uncomfortable even), in fact a lot of the stuff with the bronydad is fairly condescending.
But anyway, they go to Bronycon and... look what we have here. :O
A for effort but mine's gonna be soooooo much better.

Eh, if there was a nuclear war I'd get as far away from target sites as humanly possible before bombs hit. The city I'm in has only 100k people and I'm on the outskirts anyhow so no risk of bottlenecking since I'm already in the country.Admiral Stoic Rum wrote:good news most likely you would have died from the fallout within a few days so you wouldn't have had to live in the the Nuclear Winterwonderland...instead it would haave beeen an agonizingly slow death as you literally shit your innards out.

I have a ton of reasons why I'm afraid of dreaming honestly. It takes me hours just to get calm enough even when extremely sleep deprived to sleep. Like right now I HAVE to go to sleep soon, but I'll just lie in bed for a couple of hours hoping I don't dream until I do get calm enough to.
Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I think about 12 or so nuclear strikes in certain locations in the US would render the entire span or rather the greater majority of the span to be completely irradiated and almost uninhabitable...
this is mostly due to timing to render harvests useless and the fact that upper atmosphere air currents would spread the ashes of the targeted areas which willl be heavily irradiated, to scatter across the greater expanse of our country. we'd have to remove the first three feet of topsoil before we'd be able to use certain areas of land. that sort of deal. that is hoping that the offending party does not do high altitude detonations to render all electronic equipment useless (EMP strikes) which would render most vehicles with electronic controls to be useless

On another note, last night I had another weird chain of dreams, part of which me, Camo, and XT were ordering hot dogs from a restaurant. Dafuq.

@Admiral: most military equipment and important civilian equipment is EMP-shielded, so while we don't get to drive around anymore, most of the really important stuff will be fine
Which is nice, because it will immediately be used to flatten anyone who'd just tried to EMP us. Possibly triggering WWIII. Which is always fun.
Only thing I'm looking forward to about WWIII is that filmmakers and game studios will fucking finally give WWII a rest.

mass communications blackout the civilian panic alone would cause trouble and the heavy equipment, a large portion of it would become useless. Fuel refineries would not be able to function, entire power grids wiped out. its not small an EMP strike.

Unrelated to any current discussion, but I've an idea that I find pretty cool.
So, running a car with Hydrogen. Okay, nothing new yet. We all know fuel cells, and how they're supposed to be the future. Problem is, thus far they require extremely rare element like platinum, which greatly impede their industrial deployement. Also, their efficiency isn't that great from what I hear.
So, I was thinking about alternatives.
You could always use an internal combustion engine like we use in today's cars, and just replace oil with hydrogen, but from what I get efficiency is suboptimal, and given the chemical reaction of exploding hydrogen and oxygen release three to four time the amount of energy pound for pound than gasoline and oxygen, this may be damaging to the motors.
So I thought : well, why not use a gas turbine instead ? The advantage would be that they have higher efficiency than internal combustion engine of similar power output, have less moving parts, and weight less.
Their disadvantge, however, is that these qualities are true only when the turbine function at a set, optimal regime. Which isn't a quality for a vehicle which would often need to stop then restart.
So you'd need a way to have it always produce at its best regime and have a way to buffer the energy created.
Well, the solution is obvious, right ? Just plug the turbine into an alternator, and for the rest electric / hybrid cars are a pretty well mastered field these days.
Hydrogen-powered turbine-actuated electric-driven car ! Would need a minimal amount of re-tooling for the automotive industry to produce (as long as they are already producing hybrid cars), mechanically robust, and affordable once economy of scale settles in.
Now I would need to do some research to see if it would be feasible...

Well, for starter automotive companies, like any industry, or like any other big institution really ; have a big inertia when it come to changing things. The situation the American car manufacturers have suffered and still suffer from is proof enough of that.
Then, from a strictly practical standpoint, a purely electrical transmission would be a radical shift in design, which would need different kind of competences to conceive and produce than what is actually done. This mean that if a car company wanted to shift in that direction, they'd need either to employ more people or change their R&D teams to replace who they employed with other people with different background, this in order to work on the project - in the second case meaning they'd cut themselves from the old technologies and lose competences in the domain (in practice, it would be a bad decision to go with the second solution so they'd be forced to employ more people than before => more costs) ; and to re-tool their assembly lines (and here again, either they build new factories, or re-tool the old ones and cannot produce anymore what they produced before). Not only is that a pretty big investment, it's also a risky one.
Also, you have to consider that to maintain these vehicles, you'd need to ensure that mechanics in the countries your vehicles are marketed to need to be trained to take care of this new technology, and have the necessary tools. And for the consumers, "ease of getting my car repaired if it breaks / cost of getting my car repaired/maintained" is an important factor when it comes to deciding which fancy new car they're going to subscribe a 5-10 years loan on.
And finally, last but not least, given we still use oil-powered cars using internal combustion engines today, there's no real technical need to use an electrical transmission if the vehicle isn't designed from the get-go as an hybrid vehicle ; for the simple reason that converting mechanical movement to electricity and then back to mechanical movement induce a non-negligible amount of energetic losses, and that unless you use wheel-motors you'll still need some form of transmission to transfer the mechanical movement of the electric motor(s) to the wheels.
And given mechanical transmission these days have a pretty damn good efficiency, well, there's no practical reason not to use them given what I just said.
Do keep in mind I'm in no way an automotive expert, and that I'm just deducing that shit as I go along from what I do know (how industries work, and what little mechanics I know).
