"Especially ven zat fun is shooting burning magma over a battlefield."

"Hmm, remind me not ta piss ya off..."

"It wasn't like I had a choice. He said we were going to keep up the story about how my squad got killed and that the event traumatized me. He said if anypony knew, they'd lose faith in the military, in the ministries. He also said he wouldn't do anything to stop me, said there would be plenty of ponies out there that wouldn't mind going after the family of a zebra lover." Searchlight sat quietly staring at the ground. "Like I said, I didn't have a choice."

Cherry puts a hoof on his shoulder"Well, if it means anythin'. Ah think ya made the right call."

[Orm]

Searchlight looks over at Cherry. "Thanks." He took a deep breath. "And of course the day I'm on the train heading to Appleloosa to meet my family, all this happens. The last thing I remember telling them is to get to a stable. My wife tried to argue with me, but I didn't let her. I told her I'd be fine, just get our filly somewhere safe." Searchlight remained quiet, his eyes fixed on his hooves.

He grunts. "It is not like I could perform such magic. I may be zeh descendant of an Alicorn, but I do not have his magical prowess. I just have my military experience." he thinks for a moment. "So vat is your job out here in zeh Vasteland?"

[Guest]

"bounty hunter, thief, hired gun, etc. Anythin' really."He shrugs

"D-did she get ta the stable?"

[Orm]

"Like I said before." He glares at Cherry. "I know she did."

Cherry notices the glare and looks down,"O-oh, that's right."

[Orm]

"Sorry. I just- sorry." He says, noticing Cherry looking down. "You wouldn't happen to know how to fix a dull knife would you?" He said, trying to change the subject.

[Ironmonger]

"I suppose it pays to be versatile out here. I hope you did not have to face anyzing like vat Germane soldiers vere zrown up against, I imagine zings out here are horrible, but zings are at least just as bad in zeh more intact areas of zeh vasteland."

"Ah might of. Can't say ah know what Germane soldiers fight."

Cherry nods happy to change the subject"Uh, yeah, ah can do that."She digs through her saddle bags"Damn, must of left my sharpin' stone at home. Ya wouldn't happen ta have one or somethin' similar would ya?"

[Ironmonger]

"Artillery, tanks, robots, zeh occasional aircraft, varships, and lots of vell-armed soldiers."

[Orm]

"I've got a repair kit. I'm pretty sure they have those in them."

[Guest]

"That'll do just fine, Searchlight."She smiles

"Uh, ah can say ah've fought some robots, buts that's 'bout it."

[Ironmonger]

"I zought so, but I didn't know for sure. I've only been out here for a month and a half so I do not know anyzing about zeh vasteland."

[Orm]

Searchlight gives Cherry the repair kit and his combat knife. "Thanks, after 180 years the thing was starting to go dull." He says, happy to see Cherry in a good mood.

[Guest]

"Ah, bet. Hay, Shadow's normally gets dull after a while."She smiles.

"Well, ah can tell ya one thin' it's somethin' my daddy used ta tell me.*he kicks the dirt*All this big empty bastard likes ta do is take, hell it loves it. And it'll take everythin' ya got till yer nothin' but a shell of yerself. That's why if ya find somethin' or somepony that makes ya happy. Ya hold onta it."

[Ironmonger]

"Zat is vise advice, thank you." he grins with determination. "However, zeh Vasteland has not quite yet become acquainted vith me, and just like zeh Iron Lord and zeh ramparts of Germaneigh, I vill tell zeh empty bastard "No." It can try all it vants to take from me, I vas born to fight and zat is vat I vill do."

Clock pokes through the bodies.

Viktor sits in the bottom of a dark hole from which grumbling and scraping sounds can be heard.

Shadow sighs"Ah hope yer right, 'bout holdin' out. Just be warned, big empty here. He don't play fair."He says sternly, making sure to keep any hint of sadness out of his voice

Cherry looks over at Clock"Can ah help ya with somethin'?"

Clock looks over to Cherry, "Hm? Oh, no. I don't think so. I'm just kind of looking."

[Ironmonger]

"Zen he is just making zeh big game of life more interesting."

[Guest]

Cherry continues to sharpen Searchlight's knife"Oh, okay. Lookin' fer anythin' in particular?"

"Yeah, sure, he is."He sighs then looks off into the distance."Fucker sure as hell knows the best way ta do it too...."

"Uuuhhh... Insight."

Cherry raises her eyebrow"Insight? On the corpse of a raider?"

[Ironmonger]

He thinks over that statement for a moment. "From zeh vay everyvun I have spoken to talks, most have lost somezing. I suppose I should take zeh vasteland more seriously then."

"I think they're bandits, but that's beside the point.

I'm looking for insight into death, as cheery as that sounds."
