"I know you don't. I just... this happens sometimes. Something will remind me of someone I've lost, and that'll remind me of everyone else."

[XT Vengeance]

Charcoal is silent for a moment, thinking about what he should say. "Clock...you don't have to tell me, but who did you lose? I just want to help you," he adds. "But only if you want me to."

[Tytan]

Clock is silent for a long moment, her jaw working like she was going to say something.

She finally works up the courage to say something, "Y-you reminded me of... F-flak Jacket. He was a guard for my dads caravan. He is... was a lot like you."

[XT Vengeance]

"I'm sorry. I...I know what it feels like to lose someone you care about..." he says quietly. Charcoal sits down and pats the ground next to him. "Why don't...why don't you tell me about him."

Seeing that the two ponies may want some privacy, Scorch flies off in search of something to do.

[Tytan]

Clock sits down next to Charcoal, "Flak Jacket... He was kind of gruff, but very nice in his own way. He'd been friends with my dad since they were foals. I never saw him use another gun besides his rifle. That's what first reminded me."

[XT Vengeance]

"It sounds like he was a good pony," he says, trying his best to help the mare. "I'm here, Clock, and I want to help. You can tell me anything you want. Scorch always said I was a good listener."

[Tytan]

"Not now. I've only got one good cry in me every few days. Any more and... I don't know what I'd do."

[XT Vengeance]

"That's okay, just nest time you feel like this...come look for me okay? I don't like it when my friends are sad," he says, a small smile on his face.

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

Painkiller is wandering around the town, well, not really wandering so much as playing staring games with the guards. Some liked to point their weapons at him as though it would scare him, but he really wasn't all that worried. Word was bound to have gotten around he was a doctor; at least this is what he reasoned in his head.

[Tytan]

"Thanks Charcoal. You're a good pony."

[XT Vengeance]

"I guess," he says, not so sure of himself. "Well, it shouldn't be too hard to find me. I mean Scorch is always pretty close by," he says standing back up.

[Tytan]

Clock half chuckles, "Yeah, shouldn't be to hard to find a glowing fire-breathing phoenix."

[XT Vengeance]

"Yeah. He isn't exactly stealthy. That's why I told him to stay on my back when were ran from Fiddler's Hoof," Charcoal explained. "I guess...I'll talk to you later then."

[Tytan]

"Yeah. Thank you Charcoal."

[Ironmonger]

Cast Iron sits on the porch of the inn, field-stripping his rifle and cleaning it.

[XT Vengeance]

"I was happy to help," he says to the light grey mare before trotting off. Charcoal continues wandering around the town until he notices one of the ponies from Fiddler's Hoof having a staring contest with a guard. He trots up to the strange pony.

"Hey. Uh...what are you doing?"

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

"I'm trying to see which of us will crack first. Hope its him." Painkiller doesn't flinch. "I have the advantage, I don't actually have to blink."

The guard blinks when he over hears this and gives a small curse before turning his attention elsewhere.

[XT Vengeance]

"...okay then. You have fun with that," Charcoal says starting to trot away.

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

"Your pet bird just about killed me you know." Painkiller turns his full attention to Charcoal.

[XT Vengeance]

Charcoal stops at that. He turns back around, a frown on his face. "He is not my pet. Scorch is my friend, and from what he told me he was just trying to scare you for eavesdropping. So, you brought it on yourself."

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

"Oh, maybe your 'friend' would know better than to scare people to death if he wasn't an animal." Painkiller shoots back.

[XT Vengeance]

Charcoal scowls at painkiller. "If he really was an animal like you say, then he would have attacked you, not just scared you like a newborn foal."

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

Painkiller switches tactics, "Oh yes quite likely because it his business to tell other ponies their business. Speaking of other pony's business, Your mare-friend didn't happen to check if I was still alive did she?" He's still sitting, but adjusted himself to fully face Charcoal front to front.

[XT Vengeance]

"Don't try to change the subject on me. Is it your business to poke your snout in where it doesn't belong? Scorch looks out for his friends."

As for Clockwork, it was pretty obvious from the way you screamed like a little foal that you had just passed out. Besides, as soon as it happened Cast Iron carried you inside."

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

Painkiller snorts audibly, his body language and tone incredulous."Oh, is it my business to listen to a very public and albeit uninteresting conversation; tell a guard that it is not his business to listen I dare you.

"This self-proclaimed 'doctor' doesn't flinch when a pony passes out infront of her? So much for that proud tradition of doctors down the line she bragged about halfway to town. All that talk of wounded pride and being deeply insulted to her motives and family history by having a professionally educated Medical Pony offer a followup examination on a patient with a field dressing was just plunged under the clouds by her inaction. You be careful kid, just remember that a mare like that will only lead to your self-destruction."

Painkiller stands midway through his tirade and stomps his hoof for emphasis at the word "destruction." The look he carries in his eyes is one of moral conviction, the look of one who has not just dedicated himself to helping ponies, but to a long standing tradition of a field and career. Were they not mechanical, perhaps a little fire would have burned through them. The only thing they show is a glassy shine, the red Irises making micro-adjustments to the lenses and lighting being transmitted to his brain.

He breaks eye contact and turns away, "When she's ripped your heart out and left you bleeding to death on the side of the road, you can't say you weren't warned. Also your bird needs to mind his own business before he minds those of others who stand to do no harm. Especially when they nearly go into cardiac arrest from his 'little' scare."

[Ironmonger]

Cast Iron wanders around town. As he's walking he sees Painkiller and Charcoal having a conversation...and it appears to be heated. He sees the Doktor stand and stamp a hoof, likely for emphasis, and Charcoal seems angry.

[XT Vengeance]

[Intelligence 7(6+2) Perception 6(5+1)] "You are either from a stable or the Enclave aren't you? Or were. Those are the only ways you would have the so called "professional" training. You may have been trained in the best hospitals, and sure, maybe that makes you a better doctor, but here on the surface we don't have that chance. Clockwork does the best she can with the training she has had, and if you hadn't noticed, supplies aren't exactly easy to find. I can almost guarantee there is a good reason she didn't offer to help you, aside from the fact that you were carried away almost immediately by Cast Iron. And you didn't exactly offer to double check her work. You demanded to."

"If you think that your being a doctor means that I must respect you then you are wrong. I respect the profession, but I cannot respect you when you act the way you do," Charcoal replies to Painkiller, anger coloring his voice slightly.

[Admiral Stoic Rum]

"It's a matter of professional pride, and I won't apologize for words. Words don't hurt, actions or the failure to act is what will cause harm. If you're really curious about where I obtained my degrees, perhaps you should question why I look the way I do now." He notices Cast Iron off in the town, staring at them both. "I've already warned you about the dangers of that mare, something isn't ticking right when a doctor allows personal feelings to cloud their judgement."

Painkiller trots off on his own, passing Cast Iron, his body language reads 'don't follow'.

[XT Vengeance]

Charcoal snorts, then lets out a low whistle.

Scorch swoops down from the skies and lands softly on Charcoal's back.

"Come on Scorch. Lets go." With that Charcoal and Scorch continue wandering through the town.

[Ironmonger]

Cast Iron follows Charcoal, quickly catching up with him. "Zat conversation look bad, vat vas zat about? Don't lie to me."
