There have been claims that middle-eastern tribesman build Lee-Enfield No.4s from scratch. Not sure how true that is however

I question that it was "from scratch" but I have no question as long as they had an intact enough receiver they could make everything else from the bolt to the furniture. The receiver is always the thing that's almost never made from scratch even if everything from the retention pins to the magazine housing and the barrel is made of old tin cans and recycled condoms.

Aye. If I remember right, the receiver usually, if not always, has to be machined or stamped. What I don't like about claims lacking reliable sources is that they eat at you because you can't verify them. It's like an imaginary guy in the brain jumps up, throws his hands up, and says "Nope! Fuck this!"

English-Russia has a nice selection of true home made gunsEven here you can see the fact that there are rifles re-made into pistols and hand guns with home made furniture VS three pipes fuzed together and a crude trigger fitted without any view finders. That's a real garage gun. The kind you make with ONLY hand tools.
