I've just moved all my stuff onto a portable disk and formatted the stationary ones to reinstall Windows.

There's a problem.

When I was formatting the storage one (a 3Tb Hitachi Ultrastar), it failed to allocate ~700Gb of space to a partition (it can allocate the rest). Somehow. It gets an error when i try allocating that space.

Should I go get a new disk?

Partitioning your drives is pointless and silly. You're taking away space from the single drive to put it onto "another" drive which, in reality, is the same drive. The read/write speeds will therefore be halved if trying to access data from both parts at once due to the fact it's all on the same physical drive, after all.
You're much better off going for a second drive if you want the separate space or leaving it as it is and just having good organisation.

I meant that I was trying to create a *single* partition on that 3Tb drive (with all the space in it) and got an error. Before that, I removed all the partitions that existed.

After the first error, there were two "unallocated space" entries in the menu (both being from that disk), one 700Gb and one with all the remaining space.
I can create a partition with the "remaining" space, but the 700Gb "unallocated space" gives an error.

So you've gone to reinstall windows, told it to delete all information on the drives and completely wipe it - asked it to use the entirety of the drive -- but at this point, it's told you that it can't do this and gives you a second drive space worth 700gb?

Give me five minutes.

Well, it's not a "second drive space", it's just unallocated space that I can't use.

Apparently, it uses the type of partition table that prohibits >2Tb volumes.

Kinda strange that this didn't happen *before*, but OK.

I don't know why it used MBR this time, and not the time I've first used the disk. It worked without a hitch, then.

Isn't it a case of Windows being unable to address space being 2 TB on your drive ?

It's a known problem for drives bigger than 2 TB.

I know when I bought that 3 TB disk drive there was a disclaimer about that, telling the buyer to check if his system was compatible before anything else.

Yes, they're working on Fallout 4. They own the rights to make up to Fallout 6 and rumour has it in both the gaming world and business world that they plan to extend that right to as many as they wish to make - which, if they can keep it fresh and exciting down the line, would indeed be a good business move to do.

Rumour has it that they're putting the next game over in Boston, aka, The Institute - or at least, it'll be on the map.
As for storyline? Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, same for the enemies.
Still, that's the rumours and I'm pretty sure they were hinted to be true by someone working in Bethesda at one point.

Yeah, all the rumors I've heard so far point to Boston and I'd be inclined to trust that prediction, but given there's been no official statement thus far I still treat that with precaution.

And for the games, they hold complete rights to the Franchise now, so they can do EVERYTHING they want with it. Good on them.

We can only hope that they'll give the next game after that to Obsidian again. They'll probably be done with Project Eternity by that time.
