I think it is a good point to say I very much like 28 days later. Or Brain Dead. Two very different takes on the zombie genre.

It remain that a GOOD zombie story, in my opinion, can only be a personal, character driven story. If you start to want to treat the thing logically, like World War Z tried to do, it will inevitably start to fall apart.

Did I ever mention I liked the book because it was enjoyable to read, not because it was realistic?
The novel is considered satire because zombies can't happen, especially the literally dead ones. I like how he explained how people panic in emergencies. That was my favorite aspect. And how we simply aren't prepared for societal collapse, but that is impossible to do comfortably.

I'm not a fan of the "Fast Zombie" because, if they can run and climb and all that good stuff, how could their brains be changed in such a way that causes them to go on a mindless killing spree against the same species but still be able to keep balance at speed? Only handwaves keep any kind of zombie together, though.

TBH, I appreciated the book World War Z, which is why I'm looking forward to that movie (OTOH, I have terrible tastes in general, so... )

All I'm saying myself is that the book is unrealistic in a lot of different ways (as Frost is trying to explain, I think). Why this should be kind of insisted upon, is that from what I get the author insisted that the depiction he did of how such a situation would unravel is realistic - it's even in the preface, I think ? I'm too lazy to check my copy of the book.

I'm fine with something being unrealistic, so long as A.) some attempt is made to justify it, or B.) the author at least realizes that it's not realistic. Brooks seems to legitimately think that's how things work.

Well, confrontation of opinions is always interesting, if only because it allow every participant to re-examine the reasons why they liked/disliked something in the first place. You just have to keep in mind, constantly, that you aren't going to change the other's opinion, and that you shouldn't even try to.

That way everyone goes away from the conversation a little "wealthier", instead of getting lost in some sort of argumentative trench warfare lacking any kind rhyme or reason apart from the primal desire of defending your own "tribe" against the other.

Humans use a base-10 counting system on account of the ten fingers. Thing is, ponies also use a base-10 counting system. They have two monodigit hooves. Shouldn't they use a base-2 counting system?

That fact, coupled with the tool we see scattered around that would be better suited to humans than ponies, could be considered evidence in favor of humans having been a part of Equestria's past
