Somewhat. We would look a little different if that interbreeding never took place, but it would hardly be recognizable.

Iron, when sleep deprived, becomes a philosopher.

I, when sleep deprived, speak incoherently and generally get myself into trouble and bad situations.

Please tell me your secrets oh Iron. Please?

Training so to speak. I've been through one or two days with out sleep repeatedly over the years. I can keep a surprising amount of awareness and intelligence (sometimes even increase) but my speech gets extremely slurred and my balance is offset. I also hallucinate, I once saw an armor-plated possum.

@cloppers: I understand that there are a lot worse things people could be doing, and certainly I would rather people be into clop than pedophilia or rape. But killing people is worse than punching them in the face, it doesn't mean punching people in the face becomes ok. Admittedly the analogy is a bit broken for obvious reasons, but the point stands. Saying "yeah but there are worse things" doesn't make a bad thing okay, and to me clopping is a bad thing.

My family line looks like it was set back a few million years. By grandfather looks like a very large gorilla and we actually joke about that sometimes. Every man in my family looks like some sort of big ape. My dad is built like a chimp. XD

@sleepdeprivedhallucinations: all of mine are caused by and related to videogames. When I pull an all nighter with a new game, then do it again, then again but with a few hours of sleep that time, I start to see things from the videogame. One time after playing sniper elite v2 for a while, I was walking through a gas station and looked down a row of food and saw a guy at the end, and it felt like there were cross hairs on his head and it felt like everything zoomed in on his head. Another time was with Borderlands 2, I would see over exaggerated outlines on things if I just glanced at them.

I am okay with it because it does not harm anyone. Slugging someone does. Bullying does. So on and so forth. I am sure there is an exception somewhere, there always is, but this does not seem that offensive to me. So I accept it. As long as we agree accepting means being okay with and not trying to stop the person from doing whatever.

@Iron: there was this one time when I was airsofting, defending an object from a tower with an automatic rifle. An STG-44, if you care. There was only a few minutes left in the round, so the other team just bum rushed us, and we mowed them down with precision accuracy. It was exhilarating to be sure. Then the 'bomb plant' we were defending 'detonated' and the referee called us all dead.

*disclaimer: Erumpet is not actually a crazed gunman, he is a well adjusted member of society who just happens to like pretend killing people with replica firearms, like any red blooded Amurican.

Nope dot jay-peg. Steel armor with spikes. Bunch of smartass trolls the lot of ya.

@Erumpet

The one time I went airsofting with Frost, his brother, and his friend Zack, turned out a bit awkward. Frost and I were on opposite teams and his brother had these shit airsoft guns, real cheapies. We got within 15 ft of eachother and started firing, our rounds wouldn't even travel that far. We were firing away at eachother with looks upon our faces like "WTF WHY WON'T YOU DIE ALREADY!". His brother did have a high-quality sniper rifle however. Hurt like a mother when I got hit in the back with one of its rounds.

@Iron: my crazy engineer friend does a lot of work with airsoft guns, and he has all these tricks and tune downs to get his gun to pass the maximum FPS rating for guns at this field we play at. Then after he gets his gun tagged saying he can play, he tunes the gun back up to illegal levels. He had an SVD Dragonuv for a while, but he traded it in for an RPD and a Desert Eagle. He hasn't used the RPD at a field yet, but the rate of fire and precision is astounding on it. Whenever he looks at my STG-44 though, he basically gets an aneurism because there is no way that gun should be in working condition after three years of the shit I put it through. Known issues: electrical short causes the batteries to melt occasionally, the fire select switch doesn't work so the gun will always fire at full auto even on safety, the mag release button is held into place by combination of dried mud, the force of friction, and usually my thumb, the hop up bucking is basically rounded flat, the stock is held on by the shoulder strap and occasionally duct tape, the gears aren't meshed properly anymore so rate of fire is for crap, and the rear sight is attached by some black magic that defies the laws of physics.

An indian friend of mine has an all-metal STG-44 airsoft rifle. He's nuts about all things German and WW2. I prefer paintball because of all the neat stuff you can get for it. I once saw a paintball sentry gun.

I have this project I plan on working on at some point. I'll take apart a bolt-action foam dart gun, lengthen the action, use some sturdier materials, trick it out a bit, and mop the floor in a nerf match. I got as far as cutting the PVC pipe for the extended action before I realized I didn't have the needed tools or resources. D:

@Iron: I also have a german thing, I have an STG-44, a Lueger, and for a long time I was on the fence between a Mauser with long barrel and stock or an MP-40, but I think I've decided MP-40 just for practical reasons.
Regarding crazy stuff, airsoft has plenty. First of all almost any gun model you care to name, shell fed weapons, blowback guns(meaning the slide moves back after each shot and cocks the hammer like in a real gun), claymores, grenades, shotgun shells loaded with bbs, and mini guns. My same crazy engineer friend actually did create a motion detecting sentry gun that would identify a safe color as friendly and not shoot it. It was a G-36 hooked onto a tripod with little gizmos that pushed it back and forth. A little computer camera took a picture when you set it up, and compared that original to new pictures it constantly took. If something was different, it fired at that point. He never actually used it on the field because it was by necessity hooked up to a laptop that could easily be stolen or broken, but I thought it was cool as hell.

Frost and I (or at least me) planned to get some of the cheap and reliable weapons from way back when, then get together with some gunsmiths and see if we can draw up some blueprints/schematics for em.

Last year I had the batshit idea of modifying one of those sentry guns to take a real gun, but there are obvious problems with that.

@Iron: my friends sentry was perfectly capable of using real guns, as part of the software he definitely didn't not steal from the Internet to calculate where to shoot had a variable for projectile exit velocity and weight, so if he tuned that up for a real gun he could make a sentry, not that he ever would; he is way too smart to actually do something as stupid as put a live firearm under the control of a computer system hooked into a laptop, but in theory he could.
He also promised to jury rig a Thompson drum mag onto an MP-40 for me if I ever got one, so I am pretty happy about that. The best part is he built a 3-D printer, with parts and directions of course, so now he prints his own airsoft gun pieces. Okay I lied that was the second best part, the best part is he is going to print off some pony models for my birthday, despite not being a brony. Best crazy engineer friend ever.

On a side note, the most flat faced lie ever made to an airsoft referee:
"Why yes, my bbs are 100 percent biodegradable"

@Iron: Well there are different weights of air soft rounds, ranging from .12 grams all the way up to .70 grams, but I think the caliber is a pretty standard 6mm, so you wouldn't be able to get airsoft anti-tank rounds. My experience with paintball is limited, but I imagine the situation is similar. Plus if you get hit anywhere it is considered a kill shot, and a plastic bb will never penetrate a sturdy piece of wood, so definitely out for airsoft. I'm fairly certain hits work the same for paintball, and a paintball shatters on impact so definitely no penetration there.

PS: I have a tonne of math homework I'm supposed to be doing right now, so pretty much I'm just posting all this airsoft crap to procrastinate the hell out of that math homework.
