My BIGGEST concern with twilight becoming an Alicorn (other than it being cliche and lame, and probably a way to END the series)

Is that Twilight becoming an Alicorn kills the messages in the show, messages of friendship and liking people for their flaws and who they are, not because they are special or something, and how else can you say "ponies should be special" by making the powerful unicorn an alicorn? (or 'princess' as it could very well be called).

I was in a stream once and the artist made a point that makes sense as to why they won't make Twilight a alicorn.
Mostly because the show does advertise the toys, and if Twilight becomes an alicorn they'd have to make a new mold, and stop using the original mold for one of the most popular ponies in the show.


I might have worded it wrong, but I don't care.

Also, I just think it would be a bad idea.


Instead I want to see the dark magic thing used again in the season.
Imagine if for the finale, Twilight overuses it or something and becomes the villain for the last episode of the season.
Honestly I think that would be more interesting, and pretty cool too.
But I also know that likely won't happen.

Well strictly from story prespective it could be implemented as something they pass on to after a time (making the alicorns actually mortal), or something along those lines.
From the lesson-learned perspective, yeah it doesn't work that well but I think it could be rationalized if needed.

Nevertheless I'd like for something different to happen. The thing Ormag suggested about Twilight becoming a villain (Man, I was expecting it even here when she got the the enchanted door) sounds awesome, but I think it's gonna be something else, only hope it'll be destiny-ish enough.


PS: That Twi (probably) behind Vinyl indeed does look like she has wings...

I think that one is supposed to be that Princess Skyla that was shown around a few months ago (and is rumored as Cadence and Armor's daughter)

Anyone ever see the Disney movie Hercules?
At the end, after passing every test, Hercules is given the chance to become a god. One he turns down in favor of remaining on earth with the ones he loves, Meg.

I think Twilight will be given the chance to become an alicorn but will turn it down in favor of remaining with her friends. It might even be the season 3 finale, a two parter in which she gets to be an alicorn, realizes what she'd have to give up, and decides to go back to her friends.

For Twilight to eventually become an alicorn was likely first conceived when Celestia first saw her power so long ago, but as the moment for this final test comes to a head Celestia likely would have realized that Twilight likely would not abandon her friends to become a princess. She decides to continue with Twilight's preparations and eventual ascension, though, because it's Twilight's choice to make. A lot like giving her two tickets to the Gala in Ticketmaster, it's a bit of a trolling and a bit of a test. They might even mimic or reference that episode to a degree.

And whatever calamity Celestia had long since predicted would come to pass requiring the creation of another alicorn will instead by solved by the power of friendship yet again.

Crossed my mind though not in such detail. :D
Yeah, it could work like this, Twilight-becoming-an-alicorn fans would get their share but the show could still go on.
Though there's still the sense of finality to it. Twilight finishing her studies, though I guess there's never limit to what one can learn about friendship. Every time you think you know it all something new pops out.
