Grown Spike is Godzilla and King Kong at the same time. The water tower looks like a jug of moonshine. The doctor pony's hair made me think of a muffin. And Twilight always gives books as presents.

correct me if I am wrong , but didnt they use that water tower in the episode with trixie ? also I wish spiked stayed big but like nice haha , also I like how twilight has a baby dragon, but knows nothing about them .....

In the beginning of the episode I was hoping he'd eat the fire ruby and get super awesome destructive power over fire... Oh well, I suppose giving it to Rarity and having it be a major plot point also works!

So I was just re-eatching this episode and noticed a film reference I completely missed before.

I noticed the first time I saw it that the music for the spike chase scene sounded very similar to parts of the score to Aliens, butI only just noticed that as Spike it trying to steal Scootaloo's scooter one of the crusaders shouts:
"GET AWAY FROM HER YOU BRUTE!" - massive Aliens reference.
