@OneMoreDay: I really liked the "you have to go alone" clause because it's testing Twilight's dedication to doing what is right. Beating Sombra wasn't a test, anymore than beating that dragon or beating Discord was a test. The test was being able to put down her pride, get help, and then face up to the consequences with Celestia, because other ponies lives where on the line. Celestia needed to know that Twilight didn't use Celestia as the end all be all of morality, that Twilight could decide herself what needs to be done and then do that thing. That's where my rational thinking ends. Here is where my irrational thinking begins. Celestia needs to know Twilight can make these decisions on her own because she is grooming Twilight to become an alicorn princess.

@Swicked: While I am really sure it doesn't count, I did write a fic with Trixie containing blackmailing and noncon. Not sure, but seems like it could contain things you'd see as "funny". But overall? No, can't say I've seen one. Mainly just seen really bad and ooc clopfics with her, or well, overall there's a ton of those in general. But can't think of one that goes like you described... really sure I've read a fic like that a while back though when I read a wide range of fics overall though... might have been shipping though... and no idea if it was one of those you described, but it had some Trixie+Fluttershy if I recall. And I am just trailing off.

Kindness's Reward? Definitely shipping (and definitely not clop), but it's what convinced me that shipping wasn't a bad genre (Confound these ponies, they drive me to shipping!) and is still one of my favorites. The Trixie redemption is done really nicely, though.

I suppose Kkat's overlooking of some things was a matter of her perspective. Like...I wouldn't be able to think of something that say...Swicked would or something. I'm pretty much repeating what Kkat did (world building) but no matter how much I or any other author tries it won't be perfect. Everything can always be improved, it's just a thing of "does this improvement really matter?"

Speaking of rewriting things to improve them, has anyone reread Past Sins? I've heard it's been rewritten a few times, particularly to update it after season 2 ended. I'm not really one to reread stuff (at least, not stuff of a significant length) but it was the first fanfic I'd ever read so... I dunno. I might do it this once if it's different enough.

Just finished rereading it with the S2 additions. I do actually think they make it a fuller story, but they're not enough of a reason to go back through it—mainly just acknowledgements of Peewee, Shining Armor, and Cadence's existences, as well as reworking some Diamond Tiara scenes for Filthy Rich.

I do think it's a good work of fanfiction, but here's a difference between that and being a good story: one's not quite worth the twenty dollars for a hard copy, and the other's waiting in a box at home until I can actually get a break from college (yay Thanksgiving!)

My own thoughts: If it's a steel crossbow (arbalest) then it should go right through leather armor and ignore metal armor to an extent. If a proper crossbow can end a fully-armored knight then it should be able to off a merc. Might be some factors I'm not thinking of, like the type of metal the metal armor is made of and if the leather armor has any reinforcements.

The problem is rate of fire and how hard it is to reload a crossbow even for a human.

If you don't know how a crossbow is reloaded, try to catch some youtube videos on the subject (edit : like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvoWwrcDJJ4 ), and it might give you some ideas on why ponies in Equestria's wasteland would prefer to use guns.

Griffins, on the other hand (haha), I could see them using some sort of crossbows, or even maybe bows, when they don't have access to better weapons.

Aye, rate of fire on a crossbow is so slow that it becomes a problem. I just wanted to figure out if one could pierce the more common armors. My bro has this big hunting crossbow, I tried arming it and the tension made my hand hurt like hell. Told me to stop being a wuss.

care to explain? I find it not bad as FO:E fics go, and it's one of the few which focus on the sex, drugs, and violence, with no soul searching, commonly found in other FO:E fics

I don't like it because of that. It's pure exploitation without much thought put into it other than two characters who are unlikeable and two dimensional. The author has said specifically that the focus will be on sex and violence with little to no character growth which I find narrow minded and immature for such an undertaking. Most of the writing just seems to worship the griffin character too much and not really do anything (there also is a fair bit of misogyny directed at her that's just shrugged off from what I remember). Also the side fic (side fic after only two chapters of the main? geez) is just snuff fiction.

It's sad because those two protagonists could be used in something good, but I don't wanna read something that just worships alcoholism, violence and drug use from one side only without repercussions. You can have your main characters be reprehensible antiheros but the author seems to want readers to find these characters "cool" just as they are. Without conflict, it's boring.

Oh and the first chapter just turns into bad porn halfway through (complete with all the "throbbing member" nonsense).
