Dunno why, but I expected somethin like this from you.
But I think Dealer's voice should be like he's more than 50 y.o (in human terms) and/or smoked pack of cigarettes per day since childhood

I don't think the Enervation was intentional. If it is stated as being artificial, I apologize.Derpmind wrote:

If nothing else, it's clear that Project Horizons is something that is to be activated, since in ch.45 Blackjack is prompted if she wants to activate it by Goldenblood's basement terminal. EC-1101 probably is able to deactivate Hoofington's defenses, but that's what EC-1101 does: Key to Equestria. Besides all that, deactivating Hoofington's defenses still leaves the problem of heading into the source of Enervation.
If PH has some effect on all of Equestria, it could've had some effect on the SPP or Littlepip's comrades. My connection between EC and PH was that since the failure of EC to locate suitable candidates causes it to activate PH, it might be for just that. The manual override might have been some sort of failsafe, and the Ministry forces at the house weren't mentioned to have found the command terminal, which was found as the house was falling down over Blackjack's head.

Been a tiring day at work, but a bit of fresh air coming into my place is keeping me awake and alert.
Writing newest chapter of my own story and almost finished with it, so I'm heavily brushing up on it, (hopefully) improving the quality quite a lot as I've added a further 600 words over about 2,200 in what was previously there.
(which makes me happy, as I've been feeling guilty in how long this chapter has taken to write.)

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
I did briefly have the thought cross my mind that Horizons was an endgame weapon of mass destruction, involving sending a massive amount of starmetal to the moon, making it go kersplode with enough force to wipe out all surface life on Equestria. But it's really far-fetched. And then there's all the "evidence against" reasons you listed.Cptadder wrote:Theory 1
Project Horizon is a super weapon
There are roughly seventeen theories I've read about PH that all fall under this grouping. Project Horizons is a superweapon of some kind.
Evidence For:
We have four main reasons to think that PH is a superweapon. One Trueblood is terrified of it activating, he all but has a full freakout in the Arena after Blackjack tells him that EC-1101 is gone. If PH was in any way just a benign or helpful secret Project we should not expect Trueblood to react like that to the news it was going off (He knew that if EC-1101 was lost it auto triggered). Second we have the simple evidence that the majority of the other projects were all based around either winning the war or surviving it, granted that evidence applies both ways but I throw it in here because every single Project to date has been prime example of mad scientist thinking rather than rational scientific exploration. To go on a slight tangent what I mean by that, it's one thing to try to bring the dead back to life, it's quite another thing to start with your dead wife or a hulking brute made up of a dozen corpses stitched together rather than say... a bunny rabbit first. Sure it's not as impressive but if things go wrong... hey rabbits are easier to put down than your ex-wife or Frankenstein. Back on topic we have evidence in the form of the Moonstone which has been mentioned together before with Project Horizons at least twice by my memory. And the only thing we know about Moonstone is the fact that it can be used to create a bloody Anti-matter/Matter annihilation reaction between itself and any bits of the Eater you poke it with. That's something incredibly dangerous, sure it's not as powerful as a real AM/M reaction (Fun fact if what Blackjack tried in Chapter 44 had been real AM/M the reaction range would have been in the ten kiloton range, IE two thirds a Hiroshima and she was standing on the other side of the door from THAT). Last reason to think PH is a weapon is it's autofire mechanize, IE it automaticly goes off if everyone on EC-1101's list is dead, this implies that it's set to trigger if the entire government dies which implies a deadman switch of sorts. If so that's not something you generally set to make sunshine and rainbows, that something you set to say "If I'm going down I'm taking you with me!"
Evidence Against:
The main piece of evidence against PH being a superweapon is the existence of Project Redoubt, it's not Gardens of Equestria, Goldy put together both PH and the Gardens why duplicate his own work but then why make PH if Redoubt as it sounds like were some sort of super stables? Redoubt does not make sense of PH is the megaspell to drop the Moon directly onto the Eater of Souls for one giant bang and a purging of Hoofington. You could not do that and hope for an intact planet afterwords. And then there is the name itself, Project Horizons which does not fit a mega spell to end it all.
Your usage of images has made me lol. Sweetie Belleswicked wrote:

He's about your height and... I'm not sure on weight, I think a little less then that. anyway, you sound cuddly. I could totally go for that - especially right now after having spent the last six hours straight working on my story - I only added 3,000 words which for that time span sucks - but I did go through the entire thing combing it for grammar and bolstering its descriptions, rewriting parts for higher quality conversation, pondering on how to write this and that, and so on.
then once I was done writing all the new content (an extra 1,500 - 2,000 words from scratch) I went over that again and increased its quality, so yeah.. lots of work done at least!

Sounds like really great progress to me, best I've ever gotten was taking a full day to write up around 2100, usually it took me around a week to finish a 1200-2000 word segment. Just keep trying your best, Kipper, and get some rest when you can.

Re: [GRIMDARK] Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons Discussion
There is an easy way to turn off Hoffington's defenses. The consoles in question controlling the the defenses are all probably still logged with the corpses of the operators still at their stations since two hundred years ago when the AM/M generator running off of the Eater got kicked out the enervation fields also kicked in and murdered the Hoofington defenders at their posts. The problem with turning the defenses off is the simple fact they are going to be in a central located underground command and control bunker. Such a location will have both active and passive defenses as well as decoy bunkers nearby to confuse a Zebra infiltration squad trying to blow the bunker in preparation for another invasion attempt The location will probably be underground between the central towers in the red line marked military area behind a few dozen blast doors in a maze of identical coordinators which suddenly open up to reveal a big classic control room full of beeping monitors and giant displays... oh and aside from about ten kilometers of automated defenses and having to burn through a dozen foot thick steel blast doors the entire area is going to be neck deep in the biggest possible enervation field. It's not like Horse is going to have the control room set anywhere but directly over the Eater's crater... Imagine having the control room a dozen meters east of the real center of eldritch evil in Hoofington? Who could bear the shame of that architectural goof of having your Hellmouth entrance slightly to the side of the yawning chasm of unmaking? Sweetie Bot would not approve of having the CIC anywhere but directly over the horror from the dark spaces between galaxies.Derpmind wrote:The military Ponies who were in charge of Hoofington's defenses? Oh well.
I'm of the opinion that it's the other way, Horizons is a moon based automated facility with a Moonstone tipped missile designed to tunnel into the Hoofington crater and keplode the Eater directly. Remember Hoofington was designed as a trap, lots of juicy targets for the Zebra's to hit but so well defended (deceptively well considering the amount of tunnel work) that every attack is doomed to failure. What better failsafe then taking advantage of the presences of the Eater and it's aversion to Moonstone then by dropping a rocket on it's burial location to get a sixty megaton soul nuke as the Eater releases energies and souls as the moonstone is slammed into it at twelve kilometers per second. Lets just hope they calculated everything correctly as the last thing Blackjack needs to deal with is a Resonance cascade on top of a sixty megaton explosion.RoboRed wrote:
