Something very odd about Brass, that I keep wanting to mention and forgetting... There's just something about her that when I think of her, my first instinct is to see her as being a human. It's really odd, and she's the only pony I think of that way.

Well, I just wanted to make it look cute, as an idea completely separate from Brass' interpersonal relations.

I was imagining a lot of fight scenes all wrong.
Well I'm glad you can "D'aww" about it, heh. And yes, manticores are supposed to be quite large, though I may not have gotten the scale exactly right myself.

Well, I tried my best, heh, and I do believe it was Random Blank who suggested it, yes. Also:

I've had an idea for a FOE fic bouncing around in my head for a few months (I actually wrote the prologue last week *gasp*) and I was going to have the group spot a suprisingly undamaged blue police box on a corner as they're passing by then its gone the next time they pass through.

I haven't seen anyone else put Whooves in a fic yet. He would be the most overpowered character in the wasteland by a wide margin...

Incidentally, the design of a pony gasmask is an interesting challenge. I'm thinking something with the filters at the back of the neck with hoses leading to a flexible, baggy glove-like construct at the mouth.

sounds kinda silly looking. I think steel ranger helmet only a little more blastmaster helmet like but with the filter on the side of the mouth piece(or maybe even two to make it symetrical)

Not all that silly looking, I think. As for putting the filter(s) on the sides, that would simplify some things, but on the other hand it would required additional support systems. And you'd still have to have properly run air passages. Steel Ranger helmets really aren't suitable; in addition to being significantly more expensive than what I'm aiming for, they prevent the mouth from being used for manipulation.

Still, at least gas masks are easier than the design of zebra fighter pilot oxygen masks.

swicked, you pretty much hit the nail on the head for why I love coming by and hanging out here.
The Project Horizon RP? First joined because I knew it was just going to be a silly, fun, informal game with some cool guys, now there's talk of turning it into a fic in and of itself.
I kinda feel bad I'm not in this thread more to try to get into the conversations now, but I usually have multiple tabs and pages up at any point in time.

Fnny you should mention making the rp into a story itself...

I am now tempted to refuse the use of ByR or the stuffs I deed... if only for the sheer joy of saying no.... then again, I'm not like that anymore... actually it was only a slightly amused moment of time in my head wher I thought what if I refused to let them play with my toy admiral rum? or his toy ByR> then it would just suck because it is almost like a form of praise to have something which is your art adaptedor taken into inspiration for another story.... makes for the juice

Honestly who has not thought of the scenario where romeo and juliette did not die at the end?

well check ya'll later

As far as I am aware, it actually isn't a challenge at all - a pony gasmask would be exactly like the Raider's Blastmaster Helm. I don't say this simply because that's my absolute favorite helmet out of all of Fallout 3 and New Vegas (I almost refused to buy NV cause of conflicting initial information as to whether it would have the Blastmaster Helm or not) - I say it because no one cares about earth ponies. There's no way they'd design a mask simply to make things easier for them. Though I must say, your idea is pretty interesting sounding.

Hello everypony. Sorry, I've come to the conclusion that May is cursed. That's all there is to it. It's cursed and evil. And 45 is even more cursed than 44. For instance, I had an idea... changed it... returned to it... went with the first idea. And that was just dealing with Rain...

Now I'm 15p in and in scene 3 of 5. So hopefully brushing tues or weds... we'll see...

Sorry. On a good note, I got enough money to go to the dentist. He'll say I should get a crown... and I'll get a filling instead. Sigh. still, less jaw agony for me in the future...

Aye. While that'll do as gas protection, the mouth can't be used for manipulation.

Still, though, there are two reasons why something like this would be designed. The first is the weaker one: there does seem to be concern for earth ponies and the "Earth Pony Way" in Equestria. I don't know if Applejack reached down that far, but, if she did, I don't see her neglecting earth pony soldiers and civilian workers. The second reason, though, ensures that something like this would be designed: zebras have the same manipulation abilities, and therefore the same interface needs, as earth ponies.

Of course, it's possible that Equestria just stole our design, adapted it for its own use, and lied about where it came from. Wouldn't surprise me.

You do make good points, though honestly I don't see equality for earth
ponies as being a driving factor. Equestria doesn't seem very geared
towards chemical warfare, so except for zebra designing masks to protect
them from their own weapons, I actually question whether they'd really
need to be invented in the first place. What would actually make some
amount of sense for zebra would be an air-permeable goop that they dip
their muzzle in, that lets them still breathe but prevents contact with
other substances. I doubt it would be very widespread, but it could
definitely lead to a design like you're thinking - however keeping it
fitting tight enough, while still letting the pony breath would be a
challenge. Perhaps a tube that comes in the side actually down into the
throat, or something like that. It seems like something a
special-interest group could create, at least.

Also, "stole our design" lol...

Of course, it's possible that Equestria just stole our design, adapted it for its own use, and lied about where it came from. Wouldn't surprise me.

But Applejack didn't neglect earth ponies. Sure it would make it near impossible to use handguns with their mouths but it wouldn't really affect mouth bits for battle saddles. if it came down to it strips could be removed from the underside without compromising the mask too much to still allow the bit to be used more comfortably. Or perhaps it comes with a bit already installed that can just be plugged into the battle saddle. a blastmaster helmet still works.

"Stole our design" *cough cough* how do you think they came across guns, and trains, and park benches that are obviously not designed for them, and hammers, and pencils, scissors. the list goes on.

Anyone remember that one timeline talking about nano technology to help us manipulate elements and what not and how we lost what we thought was our shape and adopted new forms and at like the year 3000 celestia was born.

Btw Happy Birthday Somber! 12:54 as I'm typing.

And what about for things other than battlesaddles or firearm mouthgrips? I suppose that some sort of claw could be mounted to the mouthpiece, but that seems likely to be significantly more expensive and failure-prone than just a properly treated and designed bit of fabric.

I was speaking of Zebra designs, not human.

Well, like WavemasterRyx said, wouldn't the zebras just use their affinity for alchemy to create 'air-permeable goop that they dip
their muzzle in' instead of a piece of equipment? would retain your ability to use your mouth and still be able to breath in otherwise hazardous air conditions.

Possibly, and it's a very interesting idea. The goo would have to be replaced after use, though, and might have problems with drying out unless it was stored in properly sealed containers. There would also be considerable variance in the application. There is also the problem of protecting the eyes. On the plus side, the goo would be more compact and, depending on the design, possibly easier to inspect. Masks, on the other hand, would easier to put on properly, probably less likely to go bad, and can be reused. Both have their advantages, but I'm rather in favor of masks at the moment. Goo might be used for emergency supplies, though, and perhaps goggles could be included in the packaging.

maybe make the goo putty like or easily refreshable. as for the goggles, hell you could probably make the container the goggles.
