Well, my Track a commander (Mounted equivalent of a Squad Leader) appears to have disowned me after the First Sergeant saw me in the base camp DFAC, wowing/repulsing the dismounts by deepthroating a Popsicle. One of the dismount Squad Leaders mentioned he "had my doubts about you already"

In other news, I'm hoping that my Introduction to Robotics professor will have mercy on me. There appears to have been some fault, whether a software glitch or operator error on my part, with the online file submission system, with the result being that the homework assignment I thought I turned in a week early has actually been turned in four days late. That means that the professor could take up to 40% off the grade, and homeworks are the only grades in this course. I've got a good reputation for punctuality and can show that the files, which are complete, haven't been modified since well before the due date, but it's still not a comfortable position to be in.

Well, my friend. I'm stuck at work too..though it's from 9am to 6 pm.
As for that schedule...I don't know for how long you keep going like that, but at times, when I didn't have any job (for about a year), sometimes I've stayed awake for ~28 hours. But then again, around that time I got hooked on energy drinks. And coffee.
I'm not sure, that I'm paying the price now or not, but my headaches become more regular. Before that it was ~once in 4-6 month, now it's twice or three times in ~3 month. Have to take some pills and drink lots of water.

Well, now coffee takes opposite effect on me, in some cases. When I go to my training course after work, I usually drink tea there. Too many times coffee forced me to half-sleep state and teacher worries about me falling with my face flat on keyboard, so when I feel sleepy or tired at training I just try NOT to sit and drink some tea.
And now, when i actually need stay awake only thing I need for that is reason to stay and something to occupy me. Ofc occasional cup of coffee wouldn't hurt too.

Well, at work I can drink whatever I like, unless it's alcohol.
At training center teacher buys tea and sugar, some of students buy coffee and I, as tradition buy cookies.
But at training we're allowed to drink anything we bloody want. Time is usually after work and..that would be weird to say, but few gulps of beer helps to understand why the hell 2 servers with RAID doesn't want to become cluster.

I usually don't drink alcohol.

Well, training is not even from my work, I pay for it myself. And at work..well. There is some..um 'alcohol enthusiasts' here.
And that's reasonable to ban alcohol (unless it's for cleaning) at nuclear plant.

Nah. I decided to go on training myself. At my work, well, they allow me to go earlier there (while I would still need to be at work), but they have no spare money to pay for me, even though it's ~1/4 of my small salary. I'm investing in myself, don't want owe anything to this company.
Right now I'm finishing with Windows server(s), in month or so I'll start learning about Unix/Linux systems. Not that I don't know about them, but more like System administrator, than user.
Though it's not all that bad, if I'll show them some seminar or week training and justify why I need it - they might pay for it. Or if it's free - allow me not to go to work, while I will be there.

From what I gathered, in US, government companies provide good salary. Here..well. In our branches most people get minimal salary + bonuses (which usually is ~+75% to salary). For example. My friend, who was working in one of the branches as IT support specialist was working full day from Monday to Friday. In same time 'cleaner lady' would work 3 days in a week for like 3 hours..and still get the very same salary as my friend. I'm getting slightly better salary, but main reason why I'm still here - I get good practice, my employer doesn't bothered by my training, even if I have to work less on some days. And..pretty much that's it.
