Keep in mind that they were primarily a piratical raid force--storm in, grab everything shiny and a few slaves, kill anyone between you and said shiny things/slaves, then storm back out to profit. There were exceptions, such as Turgeis The Devil's massacre through Ireland, but that mostly came about when their hardcore warrior-culture overflowed into psychosis, more or less. A few ships ravaging a countryside for the sake of killing is less "war" and just a bunch of crazies with axes going apeshit. Likewise, Zang Xianzhong's 17th century depopulation of the Sichuan province was pretty much a peasant revolt helmed by an absolutely blasted-ass crazy motherfucker who wanted everything on earth to die. Not a war.

To be an Infantryman (which means you're qualified for just about anything else, so I assume it's the same Army-wide) you have to have vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye, and 20/200 in the other.
